This establishment does a regular, very traditional English Afternoon Tea with lots of sweets and good sandwiches, plus standard-issue tea like Earl Grey or Chamomille served in lovely tea pots. They also do an xmas tea in December which is even heavier on the sweets but very fun. Three stars for meeting expectations but and extra half-star for the room, which is all red with some booths and pictures of the Tudor kings on the walls, which is hilarious. Excellent service but also pub-noisy.

As Alma mentioned, this is a room attached to a pub, so it smells rather like fish and chips. You really need to make a reservation, and the hours are short, which is surprisingly inconvenient since Tudor House is across the street. Despite the fishy inconvenience, the tea room has high-backed comfortable booths with a nicely private feel and flowery wallpaper. They serve on a 3-tiered trays with nice presentation, which Tudor House doesn't. The food is very traditional English, fairly heavy on the sweets, but quite good.

Good tea, good sandwiches, particularly the sausage roll. Scones a little dry but then we find all scones dry. Petit fours too sweet but we find all petit fours too sweet. All in all, a pleasant atmosphere, good service, and the price is great.

It's a nice place to stop by if you're in the Santa Monica area. The tea sandwiches were okay but there really was not much variety; I did enjoy the little sausage rolls. When we went, there were flies as the door/windows were open to take advantage of the nice weather, and it's attached to a pub, so the ambience was less than we'd hoped for. Overall, though, it was a pleasant way to spend an afternoon near the Santa Monica Pier.
