Abby Rose

I was traveling through Hannibal, MO and looking for a tearoom in the historic town. When I found the Abby Rose listing on TeaMap, I decided to have lunch there. The photo in the listing showing a 2-story house is misleading. The tearoom is located in downtown Hannibal business district in a renovated storefront. The day I visited the air conditioning was not working which seemed to contribute to a problem with flies. The atmosphere was quaint and looked like they were trying for Victorian but there a bar which is not normally seen in a tearoom. I had earl grey iced tea, the only flavor available. The tea was fresh-brewed and tasted fine however it would have been better to have options such as a berry flavor. I chose the Caribbean chicken sandwich topped with swiss cheese, tomato and baco... (more)n on a pretzel bun. The sandwich was quite good with a sweet mango sauce. I was hoping to finish lunch with homemade dessert but was informed that there were no desserts which was disappointing. I will also note that the restroom was dirty and not easily accessible. Overall my expectations were not met and the tearoom is lacking.
