This is one of my 2 favorite tea rooms. The décor is Victorian and very pretty. The high tea is always excellent. The teas served are leaf teas and there is a good selection. The soups are varied and different. This time it was carrot ginger. Delicious!!! The owner is pleasant and very accommodating. I love going to this tea room. You will have a great experience when you try this tearoom.

This tea house has a beautiful Victorian ambiance! It also offers a small gift shop with delightful items. Our Lighthouse Christian Center church regulates this tea house often for good reason! :) The Ladies just love it!! Elegant and tasteful with endearing memories that always ensue.

What a wonderful experience to visit this tea room! As soon as you walk in the door, you are transported back in time to Downton Abby time period. I have never been to a more beautiful Victorian tea room.
And the food was fabulous and plentiful. The service was excellent and very friendly. On my visit last week, Abigail's was all decorated in the Valentine's Day Theme, unlike anything I have ever seen in any establishment. Professionally done with great taste and elegance, yet now over done. Just Perfect! We had a wonderful time as always and are already planning our return.

My wife and I visited Abigail's on January 4th. I wasnt sure what to expect but had a really nice lunch. It was a great date for the misses and me. The china was very nice, so much that I was nervous to handle it lol. Really neat gift shop and the ladies were very accomodating. Looking forward to coming back.

My friend, Nikki and I visited your tearoom, and we were so impressed, we already made a reservation for next month. Everything was beautifully presented, and beautifully decorated. Rita, the owner, was so nice, and our server was very pleasant. Very relaxing afternoon, and we can't wait for our next visit.

- Marty 01/14/14

Tearoom Response
Marty, I remember you and Nikki, you both have a great sense of humor :) We always enjoy down to earth, happy go lucky people. You asked when we take down the Christmas decorations and put up the Valentines Day..And that I did this last weekend..So come on back and have a look. Abigail's is all decked out in red and white hearts and rose! Although, I just remembered I forgot to take the poinsettias out of the swan planter at our front door. I guess I better get a move on! Just when I thought I was done!

Wow! We loved our visit so much, we already made reservations for next month! The owner was there, she seated us and even talked to us about the building and history. Truly was impressed the time they put into the decorating, really takes you back in time. Food was great, tea was hot, and our server was very pleasant. Our new favorite tearoom!

- Nikki 01/14/14

Tearoom Response
Nikki, I'm glad we can be your new favorite tea room and while we have many regular favorite guest we would be honored to make you one of them. We are greatful so many of our regulars are like family :) Come on back! We'll keep the light on for you!

Upon our arrival, the owner was talking to an employee and never looked up to greet us. After waiting several minutes, she eventually looked up, asked our name, then scolded us for being 10 minutes late. She spent the next 10 minutes 'looking' for a table for 5 of us. The entire place had one other party of four!!! Then we were told we could only order 3 pots of tea for the 5 of us. It's a Tea Room!!! The waitress looked mad from the time she approached our table. She never smiled the entire time. The soup was good, but it was downhill from there. The tea sandwiches were tastelass. They had virtually nothing on them. The bread was dry. We were each given one teeny tiny scone on a plate. No more were included. The deserts were tastless, dry and not at all interesting. I would never go back to this dusty, tired old palce with crabby, senile, old ladies running it.

- Pat Murray 01/11/14

Tearoom Response
Pat..I am very sorry that you felt your visit was this bad. Frankly I just don't understand it at all, as told this way. I have never scolded anyone, although I may have mentioned you were almost 20 minutes late and we do understand, that many times with traffic, that can always happen. The problem was all our other tables were reserved for a large group coming in and since we try and give all our quest a full 2 hours to enjoy tea with Abigails, your table may have had to be changed to another so you would have that quality time with your quest. On busy days even 10 or 20 minutes late can become a problem. But I did seat you at a very nice large table and yes I 'suggested' a 3 pot limit on your table but, I also explained why. That is because 5 pots of tea on the table with all the other food we do bring for each quest, your table would be to cluttered and there would be no room for the tiered individule servers we bring each quest. However, I always tell my tables that we will refill your your pots with the same flavor or a different flavor and that they you will never run out of tea! And I do know we made a lot more pots of tea for your table and we were happy to do so.

As for the rest of your comments about the food, my staff and the old ladies running it, I guess it is best left alone. All in all it was a bad experience for you and I can't change that but I am truly sorry we did not meet your expetations on this day.

This is the second time I have been to Abigail's Tea Room for there Victorian Candle Light Christmas Tea. The food was very good we had the five course tea. First course was scones and tea bread w/ sweet cream and jelly. 2nd course was bowl of Soup DeJour, 3rd course toss salad w/ choice of dressing, 4th course was 5 different tea sandwiches w/ fruit and cream puff swan and choice of dessert. My only recommendation would be that they would have more wait staff. Our waitress seem very busy and we had to ask for some things like cream and tea refills. I also think the gift shop could offer more tea related items.

- Nancy 12/09/13

Tearoom Response
Nancy..I'm glad you enjoyed your visit with us and hope to see you again. You were here in December and our gift shop was very busy during november and december and we did sell out of many tea items..However, when in next time and if there is something special tea related you are looking for, just ask a staff member because due to our limeted gift shop space we have many things not on immediate display but we probably have them. We also have a full online website where we can ship directly to your home ..just about anything you can think of tea related we can ship from our website..thanks again for your visit

Tried to use a Living
Social voucher three times and could never get a reservation...especially when I said I was bringing my granddaughter. I guess they don't like children.

- Mary Abrahms, Pottstown 11/17/13

Tearoom Response
Mary..sorry you could not get a reservation. there were however black out dates stated on your living social coupon and may have been a factor. and november and december are extremly busy months for us..we suggest make reservations at leat 10 day or more in advance because many days we are sold out with no tables left..We have many, many children that enjoy tea hear at Abigail's Tea Room, although we do not have a children's menu or high chairs. and we prefer no child under age of 5 be brought to tea, they are just to young to sit and enjoy.

Abigail's Tea Room far surpassed my expectations. It's located in a Victorian home with the rooms elegantly decorated in that period. The Victorian Royal High Tea was excellent and contained pots of tea (many selections), scones, soup, salad, tea sandwiches and fantastic desserts. Very leisurely experience.

I recently visited Abigail's Tea Room with a friend and we both thouroughly enjoyed the experience! The Tea Room is located in a charming Victorian house and decorated wonderfullly decorated...the ambience and friendliness of the staff were a breath of fresh air from the usual harried lunch time establishment. In addition the food was delicious-a variety of tea sandwiches, fresh homemade soups, scones, tea bread and desserts and of course an almost overwhelming choice of tea flavors! I can not wait to return to try some of the other menu items and of course some different teas!

As you noticed we serve high tea here at Abigail's, a little different then most tea rooms and we are pleased that you enjoyed your time with us. Hope to see you soon.

I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised. I was a little hesitant at first because the pictures on the internet looked so beautiful. However, when you actually visit the tea room you will feel as if you have been transported back in time. The decor with the subtle music in the background just adds to the ambiance.. The service is excellent, you are able to enjoy your tea without being rushed. The food was delicious and the presentation was tastefully done. I will be visiting this tea room a lot more now that I have found this little jewel.

- Manuela Werley 10/01/13

Tearoom Response
Manuela, Thank you! I am glad to see you enjoyed your visit and took notice of our music. Seven years ago when we opened Abigail's I believed the right music playing in the background was essential to our guests enjoying their dining pleasure with us. I just hate it when I go to a resturant and the music is so loud and obnoxious that I can hardly hear my friends conversation. So glad to know you appreciate our music choice. Hope to see you soon! Thanks Rita

I went to Abigail's Tea Room in Reading, PA for the first time, and it was a BEAUTIFUL experience!!! The room was beautifully decorated and had such an artistic, formal atmosphere, with great attention to detail. The food was delicious, and offered great variety. My tea was delicious and was served from a covered teapot. And the icing on the cake, so to speak, was the gift shop which offered unique and beautiful gifts not seen elsewhere!

I had heard that Abigail's Tea Room was lovely but you have to experience it for yourself to appreciate what a real treat it is. The decor is stunning, it's as if you're stepping back in time to the Victorian era; the choice of teas is vast; and the food and the way it is presented is glorious. The gift shop is worth a visit alone. There are so beautiful tea-related items for sale that I haven't seen anywhere.
Take a friend or a group of friends and enjoy a wonderful, relaxing afternoon.
