We had a wonderful time at Abigail's Tea Room!! The food was delicious, we each got our own beautiful teapot full of amazing tea and we got to take pictures in the stunning manor house afterwards! What a magical afternoon! The gift shop had so many fun and unique items, the adorable gifts had me, my grandmother and my mom laughing! Even stunning jewelry! Will definitely be back! Even the wait staff was amazing, very personable and gave us a tour or the manor house when we entered! Unbelievable service, beautiful antique manor house setting and unforgettable food and tea!! Thank you Abigail's Tea Room for brightening up a rainy day! :D

Sue was our server, and my best friend and I enjoyed a lovely and delightful experience at this tea room. She was very attentive, and even told us to be careful coming down the windy staircase after we went up there to view the 2nd upstairs gift shop. The décor is beyond compare! I will definitely go back to Abagail's!

We did not make reservations but the hostess/waitress/chef was very accommodating to myself and 5 year old daughter. I loved the unique sandwiches and desserts. My daughters favorite part was the store. She picked out the cutest child size items for her at home tea set. We will be back ~ hoping for a Mrs. Claus tea :)

My mother and I enjoyed the Royal High Tea at Abigail's Tea Room so much that we came back and brought my sisters with us. The presentation of the food is beautiful and the waitress who served us was helpful and friendly. I love the variety of tea, with plenty of black and herbal teas to choose from. The house blend is excellent! We can't wait to go back again.

Abigail's Tea Room is a truly Victorian experience. High Tea has six courses: tea, scones, soup, salad, sandwiches & fruit, dessert. The atmosphere is wonderful! The gift shop is glorious! It was a unique and most satisfying experience, one which I will participate in again. The decor and detail reflecting the era noted a special effort. The decaf mint tea was delicious. I enjoyed the tea sandwiches, mini desserts, and the lobster bisque. Our server was solicitous to our needs, and very friendly. My friend and I also enjoyed the two hour posted on our reserve card. It was a very relaxing experience. The gift shop revealed many items that appealed to my taste in jewelry, scarves and a attractive sweater that fit perfectly. We were able to park on the lot opposed to off st. parking, and I will be returning with many friends. Thank you, we are very fortunate to have this in our area.

We had a lovely experience at Abigail's Tea Room. The tea was fantastic. We both had the apricot peach tea and we loved it. The pot came with a cozy so the tea stayed warm. It was a generous pot of tea and not a little stingy pot. We also enjoyed the lovely Victorian decor which set a wonderful atmosphere for our tea. The Victorian decor was more historically authentic at this tea room and not 'cutesy'. I loved it!

My daughter and I both loved the soup. We each had a different one. It was wonderful and came out nice and hot. We also really enjoyed the tea sandwiches too. There were some that we had never had before. I particularly like the one with apricot in it. Everything was tasty and served in a beautiful fashion. We were not rush and had plenty of time for conversation. If you don't visit this tea room you are truly missing out on a relaxing afternoon tea experience.

We plan to visit again soon!

This was my first time at Abigails and it was wonderful. The Victorian era was beautiful and you feel as if you are back in time. My friend and I had the Queen Anne Royal High tea. The presentation and food were very good. The tea sandwiches and desserts we had were delicious. There scones are served warm and are scrumptious. There were many teas to choose from and if you wanted an ice tea they had two choices. One was Peach the other Raspberry . The Raspberry was delicious. Went on a Friday afternoon and they were busy but everyone was pleasant. I would recommend anyone to try it at least once.

My granddaughter and I were transported back into time as we enjoyed the very elegant Royal Tea. One of the things that struck me was some of the little details that makes for a successful tea. For example - the temperature of the tea and soup - Hot! The tea pots were large and sported tea cozies. My first choice of tea, recommended by Sue, was not for me but she cheerfully swapped it out for the French Vanilla which was amazing. We added 2 sugar cubes and a dollop of honey (we asked for that) and it was rich and full-bodied. We loved it. The tea bread and scones were miniature in size, as is usual in a Victorian style tea. The dollops of sweet cream and preserves were also tiny but adequate and artfully presented. The soup was amazing - a creamy potato bacon. After that came a nice-sized ... (more)

Upon our arrival, the owner was talking to an employee and never looked up to greet us. After waiting several minutes, she eventually looked up, asked our name, then scolded us for being 10 minutes late. She spent the next 10 minutes 'looking' for a table for 5 of us. The entire place had one other party of four!!! Then we were told we could only order 3 pots of tea for the 5 of us. It's a Tea Room!!! The waitress looked mad from the time she approached our table. She never smiled the entire time. The soup was good, but it was downhill from there. The tea sandwiches were tastelass. They had virtually nothing on them. The bread was dry. We were each given one teeny tiny scone on a plate. No more were included. The deserts were tastless, dry and not at all interesting. I would never go back to this dusty, tired old palce with crabby, senile, old ladies running it.

- Pat Murray Jan 11th '14

Tearoom Response
Pat..I am very sorry that you felt your visit was this bad. Frankly I just don't understand it at all, as told this way. I have never scolded anyone, although I may have mentioned you were almost 20 minutes late and we do understand, that many times with traffic, that can always happen. The problem was all our other tables were reserved for a large group coming in and since we try and give all our quest a full 2 hours to enjoy tea with Abigails, your table may have had to be changed to another so you would have that quality time with your quest. On busy days even 10 or 20 minutes late can become a problem. But I did seat you at a very nice large table and yes I 'suggested' a 3 pot limit on your table but, I also explained why. That is because 5 pots of tea on the table with all the other food we do bring for each quest, your table would be to cluttered and there would be no room for the tiered individule servers we bring each quest. However, I always tell my tables that we will refill your your pots with the same flavor or a different flavor and that they you will never run out of tea! And I do know we made a lot more pots of tea for your table and we were happy to do so.

As for the rest of your comments about the food, my staff and the old ladies running it, I guess it is best left alone. All in all it was a bad experience for you and I can't change that but I am truly sorry we did not meet your expetations on this day.

Tried to use a Living
Social voucher three times and could never get a reservation...especially when I said I was bringing my granddaughter. I guess they don't like children.

- Mary Abrahms, Pottstown Nov 17th '13

Tearoom Response
Mary..sorry you could not get a reservation. there were however black out dates stated on your living social coupon and may have been a factor. and november and december are extremly busy months for us..we suggest make reservations at leat 10 day or more in advance because many days we are sold out with no tables left..We have many, many children that enjoy tea hear at Abigail's Tea Room, although we do not have a children's menu or high chairs. and we prefer no child under age of 5 be brought to tea, they are just to young to sit and enjoy.

Abigail's Tea Room far surpassed my expectations. It's located in a Victorian home with the rooms elegantly decorated in that period. The Victorian Royal High Tea was excellent and contained pots of tea (many selections), scones, soup, salad, tea sandwiches and fantastic desserts. Very leisurely experience.

I recently visited Abigail's Tea Room with a friend and we both thouroughly enjoyed the experience! The Tea Room is located in a charming Victorian house and decorated wonderfullly decorated...the ambience and friendliness of the staff were a breath of fresh air from the usual harried lunch time establishment. In addition the food was delicious-a variety of tea sandwiches, fresh homemade soups, scones, tea bread and desserts and of course an almost overwhelming choice of tea flavors! I can not wait to return to try some of the other menu items and of course some different teas!

I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised. I was a little hesitant at first because the pictures on the internet looked so beautiful. However, when you actually visit the tea room you will feel as if you have been transported back in time. The decor with the subtle music in the background just adds to the ambiance.. The service is excellent, you are able to enjoy your tea without being rushed. The food was delicious and the presentation was tastefully done. I will be visiting this tea room a lot more now that I have found this little jewel.

Manuela, Thank you! I am glad to see you enjoyed your visit and took notice of our music. Seven years ago when we opened Abigail's I believed the right music playing in the background was essential to our guests enjoying their dining pleasure with us. I just hate it when I go to a resturant and the music is so loud and obnoxious that I can hardly hear my friends conversation. So glad to know you appreciate our music choice. Hope to see you soon! I went to Abigail's Tea Room in Reading, PA for the first time, and it was a BEAUTIFUL experience!!! The room was beautifully decorated and had such an artistic, formal atmosphere, with great attention to detail. The food was delicious, and offered great variety. My tea was delicious and was served from a covered teapot. And the icing on the cake, so to speak, was the gift shop which offered unique and beautiful gifts not seen elsewhere!

The decor is stunning, it's as if you're stepping back in time to the Victorian era; the choice of teas is vast; and the food and the way it is presented is glorious. The gift shop is worth a visit alone. There are so beautiful tea-related items for sale that I haven't seen anywhere.
Take a friend or a group of friends and enjoy a wonderful, relaxing afternoon.

The selection of teas was very good--not so many you're overwhelmed in the choosing, not so few that you can't find something to try. The finger sandwiches--my favorite part of taking tea--were splendid, as was the entire Royal Tea menu, and everything was served in a lovely manner. What a pleasure. I am planning on attending very soon. While we were there was a young lady who was just turning 13, her mom had bought her for her special day. What a joy it was to watch her. The waitess took a picture of them and then i also went over asking if i could take some of the both of them. There is a beautiful doll in period dress, in which i took picture of her with the doll. I think she will remember specail day for years to come. As you see i am a people watcher. Enjoy your tea. ;-)

I will not be returning to this tearoom. Our recent experience at this tearoom has changed my opinion drastically. We had pleasant experiences there the past few years, but things have changed. It started when we went to make a reservation. We'd recently had my 1-yr-old nephew there (very well behaved, we wouldn't have taken him otherwise), but when I mentioned we'd need a high chair for this visit, I was told very firmly that they don't have high chairs. Confused, I inquired further, until I was told the one they had was broken and they would not be replacing it. The conversation continued with me feeling reprimanded because 'Do you really think bringing a child is a good idea? They don't have a very long attention span,' and basically telling me, without actually saying the words, that t... (more)
