Food: I have visited other Tea Rooms both locally and out of state, but Basically British was, by far, the most delightful! The tea menu was impressive and I cannot wait to return to sample another selection. The food was beautifully presented and tasted twice as good as it looked. The calm atmosphere was enhanced by the hosts who were warm, cheerful,and informative and they treated us as if we were family. Basically British is truly a bright jewel located in the heart of the Gem City. |

Food: I'm only basing this review upon the variety of teas (which is fairly extensive even if it is already boxed/canned and not available in bulk at least at the time of my last visit a couple of months ago) and upon the of service offered by Terry the owner (I haven't yet met Vicki his wife). Since the teamap system WON'T let me leave a review without checking all boxes I'll give the food and tea preparation an average rating since I haven't yet experienced this. Terry is a very dedicated tea merchant who loves his trade and at the last time I visited was expanding the business to have the actual Afternoon Tearoom experience of the traditional British tea. Food: Sept. 10, 2009 LOVELY!~ My friend and I enjoyed a wonderful, classic Afternoon Tea at Basically British in Dayton, Ohio. The atmosphere was so relaxing, and the owners, Terry and Vicki, were delightful. This isn't a 'faux' tea experience: there were 60 high-quality loose teas to choose from, and they were properly prepared. We each got our own pot of tea, which earns big points with me; so often a table is expected to share and the tea runs out quickly (in our case, anyway!), and you're left waiting for a refill, but NOT at Basically British Tea Room! The menu changes monthly,(more points!) and the chef knows what she's doing– everything was delicious, the amount of food was satisfying,and was served on the traditional three-tiered plate stand and ranging from savories to scones and sweet...
