This is not the traditional tea experience that I have had in California tea rooms. The tea sandwiches, salad, fruit, quiche were all on one plate. The scone came already filled with clotted cream? and preserves. It looked like a cream puff. Don't get me wrong, everything was tasty, just the presentation was not what I am use to. We didn't make a reservation and it was not a problem. The ladies there for lunch looked like they were having regular lunch fare, not tea. Their food looked very appetizing as well. You do have to make a reservation if you are having high tea. So maybe the presentation is more traditional at high tea. Very charming place. The village is full of refurbished old homes transplanted there and made into shops. Worth the visit. Couldn't find another tea parlor in San Antonio. I'll go back. I liked it.

Oh boy - I am from Florida, with LOTS of fantastic tea rooms here, so I have HIGH expectations. I will say this - when in San Antonio - I MUST return to this tea room with a reservation and give the High tea ceremony a try. There was a bit of misunderstanding as to reservations when I called before my visit, so we just ordered salads and scone/tea service. I must say the presentation of the food was very appealing and the taste FANTASTIC. The scones were served non-traditionally - in HUGE portions and pre-spread with devon cream and strawberry preserves, cut in half. (Sandwich style) They were SUPERB and very indulgent. We had to take one home, they were so big! The prices are great. And the village this tea room is set in - a MUST visit. I loved the shops, the feel - OH MY - not enough minutes in a day! Both mom & grandma joined in, and I have already referred my cousin who lives locally. Thanks for a great afternoon! My visit was on January 18th, 2008.

Off the beaten path but just get there!! VERY Worth the inconvenience of having to make a reservation. Attention to detail and the generosity and quality of the food was impeccable. My husband and I had a great time while visiting the area.

This is an awesome place that I love. The fish and chips and the Sheppard's Pie are delicious! The scones are to die for.
