DO NOT GO TO THIS 'PLACE.' I would not even qualify it as a restaurant, let alone a tea house.
The waiter was the husband of the owner, and he couldn't hear your order, let alone take it to someone who could process it.
The surroundings were 'castle-like.' It was dirty, delapidated, cold, smelly (no smells from the kitchen whatsoever) and broken down. No chairs matched at any table (some were folding chairs, and some wooden ones had missing/broken arms), the tables looked like they came from a yard sale, the couches you waited on were shredded and old. We waited an hour past our reservation time to finally be seated, and that was the beginning of more bad experiences.
For a tea, you get a tea bag steeped in a large tea pot (no infuser, no nothing). The tea... (more) had no smell, no color and no taste. We never received our tea sandwiches because we left. However, we did ask for something while we waited for everything else. They promoted their chicken soup, which arrived cold and almost fermented tasting. No one took more than two spoonsful. It was awful.
We were cold, hungry and frustrated beyond compare, and this was a tea with four mothers on Mother's Day. An incredible disappointment after driving 90 minutes from the DC area. And, the establishment had the nerve to follow their apology with a 'please come again.' Right.

I go to Beans in the Belfry for the atmosphere more than for the tea. They carry one brand of tea in an assortment of flavors (sorry, can't recall the brand name) and serve it nicely, but I'd love to see them branch out into a less commercial, more robust brand.
That said, the shop itself is beautiful, with a fun, rotating assortment of furniture and gorgeous stained glass windows. Wonderful place to spend time with a pot of tea, a tasty snack, and a book. I'm very happy to see them becoming so popular.

A great discovery in Brunswick, I take many friends there and even my father-in-law loved it! Lovely lady is always very attentive to us and makes great sandwiches and desserts. Huge selection of teas and great atmosphere in the beautiful church. Planning my next visit.
