i love the beehive tearoom and will always be a loyal customer. salt lake has a limited selection of tea rooms and we are so lucky to have this one. its one of my favorite places to spend my time, and money. tea has never been a fast food kind of beverage, so to those who hate waiting, there is always the drive thru at starbucks! the beehive tea room is a must when visiting salt lake. i recommend the spinach artichoke sandwich and the salads. tasty much! my favorite tea is the ginger lime rooibos and the lavender. anyone who appreciates good food, amazing tea and a wonderful ambiance, you must visit.

I'm very surprised at the agressive and critical attitude of a couple of the correspondents to this critique.
I have been eating and enjoying the Beehive's ambience for some months now, and have become a regular customer.
The lady owner, Lisa, has been nothing but courteous and most helpful on every occasion we've visited, and the staff generally very friendly and effective.
As a vegetarian I've loved the unusual selection of healthy foods... and have a very sneaky addictive lust for their Curried Veggie Pasty pie, with perfect spicing and wonderful pastry... with my partner waxing lyrical over the Shepherds Pie with Gravy one when we fall off our calorie wagons. Big portions... but oh, so delicious.
I can only think that the main complainant is from some competitor
Cafe... plus one with an overblown sense of self-importance and vindictive jealousy. Its a shame because this little gem is a find in a million and we love it for its originality and ambience!

tearoom response
Dear Richard and Barbara- The staff and I are very grateful for your kind words. The tea community here is small, but very supportive- customers and competitors alike. We are very fortunate to have so many good and friendly patrons! Tea people really are wonderful!

This little shop has the cutest decor and cozy seating, I used to love to spend a few hours here studying, and drinking tea. Their cup cakes are wonderful too. The past year I have noticed a change in the service. It used to be staffed with employees that fit the whole feel of the place: they were willing and ready to help, and would cheerfully admit that they might need some extra time to fix orders...lately it has shifted to a staff that can barely greet you, tell you it will be a long time if you order ANYTHING...including scones that are within fingertips reach...and they really do take a long time. It has been frustrating, and not relaxing to visit this shop lately. I hope that things turn around for the better so I can continue going there for tea in the afternoons with friends. I wouldn't suggest going unless you have all the time and patience in the world for slow and rude service.

DO NOT GO HERE. There are way better places in Salt Lake. The service is horrible. The staff is rude and makes you wait forever even for acknowledgment. The food is ok, but when you pair it with the incredibly long wait time for food and nasty attitude you get it isn't worth it! I have been there about 4-5 times in the last 2 months and the service is always terrible. No one is behind the counter when you come in, you wait for 2-10 minutes for someone to take your order if no one is even IN the place, they take forever for the simplest orders, and they are rude when they serve you. The ambience is nice, but its not worth it. Go somewhere else. They have a giant chip on their shoulders.

Rude Rude Rude!! Terrible service. The food is not THAT good. The only thing that I found worthy was the Tea Variety. You can find that at another establishment. Dont bother.

My friend and I visited this Tea room after work one day. Very interesting decor and atmosphere. The Teas was great, the Scone very fresh, service was speedy and friendly. Totally enjoyed the experience.

I love the beehive tea room, but the last several times the service has been so rude that my friends don't want to come back. I am going to give them another chance this weekend with reservations, but last weekend they refused to make me a salad because I didn't have reservations, and took an hour to make tea! I know what it takes to make a salad and a cup of tea. It's ridiculous.
