This was our second trip to British Bell and while the first trip was enjoyable, this trip bordered on awful! Our waitress was non attentive, had to chase for ice water, silverware and finally the check. The food was not nearly as good as last time. My tea, vanilla cream, over brewed, the sandwiches were mediocre at best scone was overbaked and hard as a rock, and the quiche was way overdone. The final insult was waiting almost ten minutes to pay the bill while the gentleman continued with a phone call not paying attention to the three people in line waiting to pay then finally said in a really disgusted tone: 'I have to go'. Not very good service!

The British Bell Tea Room's location is somewhat obscure. It is among several establishments; but not far from the cinema. Once you enter the British Bell you are met with a treasure trove of wonderful tea gifts. Personally, self-control eluded me. One shopping spree and I purchased gifts for all of my tea time friends. Thomas, our server, had a servants heart. He made sure that our tea time was magnificent. We brought to his attention an item that was served that needed attention. He quickly remedied the matter. The tea tier treats were delightful. The pumpkin scone was the best that I have had thus far. It was flavorful, flakey and the texture was just right. Dawn, the hostess/owner was so graceful. She assured me that my mother, who has alzheimers, would not be a problem. She made ever... (more)

visited today for my daughter's 21st birthday; I have been here several times before. The tea room is lovely inside and service was excellent. The bread sticks served with soup or salad with high tea are excellent, as is their signature turkey sausage roll. You get to select 3 of 6 traditional sandwiches, egg salad, cucumber, salmon, roast beef, chicken or tuna salad. All very good; not extraordinary. The desserts were superb, and choice of 3 types of scones were also excellent. I will definitely be back, but would love to see some new surprises with the sandwiches; perhaps something new and different occasionally for the return customers. If you've not been here before, it is worth the visit; I travelled from MD and was not disappointed.
