The Butterfly Garden Tea Room and Itty Bitty Bakery is a unique and quaint retreat. Voted the "Best Tea Room in Virginia Beach" we are the 2009 Gold Award recipient in the Best of the Beach contest! The decor of soothing lavender, iris and greens is a mix of garden style, country french and shabby chic. Our tables are set with linens, china and fresh flowers. We offer a luncheon tea menu with a variety of freshly prepared items and desserts. Our Butterfly Tea is a full afternoon tea served in three courses. We have over 2 dozen gourmet blend teas on our tea menu as well as monthly specialty teas we feature to accompany our afternnon tea service. The cuisine for our Butterfly Tea changes monthly, so as to bring our guests new and delicious tasty treats. It is a place where we welcome guests to sit and chat over expertly brewed pots of tea and freshly baked gourmet scones as they celebrate a special event with our wonderful luncheon or afternoon Butterfly Tea Service. WE NOW FEATURE GOURMET CUPCAKES baked on premises with fresh quality ingredients and topped high with homemade buttercream frostings.

Food: We had a baby shower at this tea house food was good but service was not. This is not a child friendly place we had two children age 8 and 6 and the staff were not accomodating to the children. Quality of food for children was terrible the drink was watered down and the children had cheese sandwiches on white bread. They also had little bitty tea sets to drink out of. This tea room also does not accomodate large parties. |

Hello Lorraine,I am sorry that you feel we were not able to accomodate the children in your party. I am not sure what accomodations you requested, but our hostesses have no recollection of any special requests by you or the person making the reservations. The food prepared for the children would have been ordered by you (or the person who hosted the party). Whomever it was must have ordered a Lady Bug plate which is set to please the palates of children ages 4-9 and includes a sandwich of which can be filled with cheese, pbj, turkey or chicken salad on white bread with the crusts removed. They also recieve a cookie, mini cupcake, assorted fruit, cheese cubes and finally the plate is sprinkled with chocolate chips for a sweet finish! They have a choice of drinks including punch, warm tea or iced tea. The tea ware (cups, tea pots and silver) for this plate is child sized which allows them to be able to pour and handle tea pots and cups without assistance from parents. Of course, if you wanted the children to have adult sized meals that option was available simply by ordering off the menu at the time of your visit. As far as accomodating large parties we do have seating for 30-32 guests and host a variety of bridal and baby showers, birthday parties, red hat groups, ladies church groups and book clubs just to mention a few! So, again, I'm not sure what size of facility you needed to accomodate your party but we do a lot of larger groups. Food: My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful luncheon in the tea room this past Saturday. Mango iced tea, quiche, superior food, service and atmosphere. I try to hold marketing lunches here- often. What a special place of heaven on earth!!! Run, don't walk! You will enjoy the experience. |

Food: On the 16th, we once again visited one of our favorite tea rooms. Butterfly Garden has such a charming atmosphere! Debbie was most accomdating in seating my 93 year old mother where she would be most comfortable. As usual,the food and service were excellent! We enjoyed Kim's newest cupcake creations, but still love her scones! We will certainly be back! |

Food: This dainty little tearoom defantly has earned its rating; the food is impecible, the atmosphere adorable, and the service is small town-esque and friendly. I've gone with friends, family, and my husband, we've even had my daughter's birthday at the Butterfly Garden. The soup is unique, the tea first class, and I can promise you satisfaction! |

Food: This was my first visit to a tea room and I loved it! There were about 20 teas to choose from and the hostess was very helpful in choosing a tea, especially for my daughter who doesn't care for tea usually. The food was very well prepared; it was fresh, well prepared, plentiful, and there was an interesting variety. I would certainly recommend this tea room. |

Food: I have been going to this tea room for many, many, months and always enjoyed the food and scones. However, over the past few months, I have noticed the scones getting cut down even smaller and smaller. Pretty soon you could eat them in 2 bites. What bothers me is that you have increased the price on the scones, yet made them smaller. |

Thank you for your praise of our scones. We make them daily, in small batches and by hand. We are dedicated to bringing the best and freshest ingredients to all our menu items. Due to rising costs of our raw ingredients (flour,real butter,cream and fruit) we have had a small increase to some of our menu items over the past few months. But, I can assure you we have not made the scones smaller. I make them every morning and we still get an even dozen out of each batch. However, when we add fresh fruit such as blueberries or chopped nuts they add bulk to the size, whereas a scone with lemon juice and zest do not get that extra bulk. It could make them appear to be smaller, but infact the dough is the same amount in all flavors. Thank you again for taking time to give us your feedback!
