Camellia Rose Tea Room & Boutique

After checking and then rechecking that this was actually the place my friend and I went to tea, I am shocked to find so many positive reviews. Maybe we hit it on a bad day, but a friend and I who were in Orlando for a long weekend drove all the way to Camellia Rose for afternoon tea. The front half of the store is a cute little shop, and the back part is a gorgeous room where the tea is served. Sadly, that's where my positive thoughts end. Between the two of us, my friend and I have had afternoon tea in 4 countries, and at roughly 30+ establishments. This was, by far, our worst experience. The food that everyone is raving about in the other reviews was awful. One sandwich had about a cup of dill on it rendering it virtually inedible. Someone else talked about delicious chicken sal... (more)ad, where we received a hardened slice of curried salad that was disgusting. They served scones with 'devonshire' cream that tasted like cool whip mixed with almond extract, and a raisin scone that was about 98% raisin and 2% scone - and was, again, inedible. The cookies and cakes were extremely, cloyingly sweet and when all was said and done, we barely ate any of the offerings because of their taste. A manager/owner came by and asked how it was and my friend politely replied 'well, the tea is good', and the woman kept on going despite the fact that we were sitting in front of a tower of deconstructed and/or partially eaten items. We were very disappointed that we had driven so far. It is a beautiful space, and perhaps it has a regional taste that just wasn't for us, or we had a bad tower, but for those of you who have experienced wonderful tea services elsewhere, I fear this will not live up to expectations and strongly suggest that you try somewhere else.

I brought my seven year old niece for our annual Christmas tea on Saturday, 12/22. She chose Camellia Rose for the second year in a row because she loves being able to wear a tiara while we have tea. I was glad she did. As always, the food and the tea were delicious and you were very gracious about adjusting the sandwiches to meet her 7 year old taste buds. Thank you for another wonderful experience!

I thoroughly enjoy visiting Camillia Rose. Ellen and her staff are wonderful, the food and teas are perfect and the room itself is very inviting. Two great choices are their chicken curry -nut crusted- sandwiches and the Earl Grey Creme tea. I have been there many times and always leave HAPPY!

We really enjoyed our afternoon at this tea room. They have a very extensive selection of teas, and their server was able to give recommendations and showed knowledge of the menu. We tried several of the tea blends, and the server was polite, cheerful, and this made for an overall great afternoon tea. We have tried several tea rooms in the area that only have 2-3 teas available during a service, so being able to try multiple teas was a definite plus. The food at the tea room was good. Definitely the soup was the highlight of the service, and should not be missed. I left with a couple of the teas that I tried for my home stock, and plan to return.

Very poor service! The owner of the store will not even offer to take faulty merchandise back or give you store credit! Do not shop at this store!

Went again last weekend with a friend after seeing their facebook special for buy one, get one free. As always, it was wonderful! Love the gift shop and the decor of the rooms...and the fun hats available to wear while having tea. The chocolate strawberry tea was delicious. And the sandwiches, scones and desserts...yum! The broccoli cheese soup was rich and creamy. Love the curry chicken salad. Ellen and the rest of the staff are always so gracious! One of my two favorites in the Tampa area!

Love,love,loved this experience that my sisters, nieces, and myself had on Saturday July 14th. My first time visiting a tearoom and it won't be my last. Service was great , food was wonderful, and so was the tea! I especially the mystery cast , they really kept me intrigued. Thank you so very much, can't wait to do it again. Linda
