Just Wonderful!!!!!!!! Food was excellent, from the soup to entrée to dessert. The owner and waitress were very attentive and charming. The tearoom is lovely and elegant, not overdone or gaudy. They house a great selection of teas. This is one of the best places in Kentucky.

I was passing through Frankfort yesterday and stumbled across this tea room. I was impressed with the enjoyable lunch I had -- food, atmosphere, and service. I especially enjoyed my dessert! I will return as often as I am in town.

Loved this place! The waitresses are friendly and very accommodating, the dining room is warm and inviting, the food is wonderful and the tea is delicious. I don't know how they do it, but the desserts are to die for...YUM! I cannot wait to go back!

What a treat to share an afternoon with your good friends for a 'JUST BECAUSE' lunch! The lunch menu is filled with so many wonderful items to choose from. The desserts are exquisite. What a wonderful find. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the food is excellent. Some of the best chicken salad and quiche I have ever had. When you go, get the Sampler plate, we were impressed from the moment the plates were placed in front of us. We loved the desserts, too. I will definitely be back for more very soon.

Enjoyed my lunch and the huge selection of items on the menu. I had never had benedictine so the owner let me try it and it was excellent. I have been to Candleberry's Tea Room a number of times over the last couple of years. It is one of my favorite places to have lunch. Everytime they change the menu, I am pleasantly surprised by the new menu choices. This happened yesterday again. The summertime lunch menu is wonderful. Such a variety of choices. The food and service are terrific as always.

For my 40th birthday, I decided to go antique shopping and visit a tearoom. I first tried 2 other tearooms in Simpsonville and Frankfort that were closed down. I then ended up here at 1:45pm. There was a small shoppe selling jewelry, candles and a little home decor. I was pleased to see Harney tea! I ordered a sampler and a pot of Chocolate Mint Tea and let them know I wanted to try a few different flavors. The waitperson was pleasant, but started turning out the lights around me before I got my food. Before finishing my food, the owner/manager came to my table in a huff and said that she was told I wanted to order another flavor. I confirmed, but wanted to wait until I finished my meal and the pot I had. I was rudely told they could make it to go. Two minutes later, she briskly ... (more)brought my check and gave instructions to pay. She almost insisted I leave a tip, asking how much. I was never offered dessert and was told no less than 5 times that they close at 2 and she still had employees on the clock waiting for me to leave. I apologized for imposing and left. I usually try to visit a different tearoom for my birthday, try new flavors and stock up. There was no way I was going to buy anything from them, and there's no way I'll be back. I've never been treated so rudely or made to feel so unwelcome in my life! Don't seat a customer at 1:45 if you plan on escorting them out at 2:00. In these times, it's hard to imagine a restaurant that has so many customers that they don't need any more! That's not even to mention common courtesy! This experience fell far below the gracious hosting you'd expect when looking for a tearoom. Ms. Manners was obviously on vacation!

My friend and I had lunch at your tearoom last Saturday. We enjoyed everything very much. The Kentucky Hot Brown (my friend ordered it, but I got a taste) was awesome. We didn't really have room for dessert, but got some anyway. Wow, the bread pudding is the best I have ever had anywhere.

Have to admit...I love controversy and am somewhat curious! I saw some negative comments on Facebook that mentioned Tea Map site and I read some pretty damaging comments here too, so I decided to visit your tea room to see what all the fuss was about! I was expecting a bad experience, but wanted to see for myself how such a place stays in business. I'm not sure whether to be delighted or disappointed! Nothing negative here, just a complete jewel of a tea room. Warm hospitable service, lovely placement of the food on my plate, amazing food of great variety, and the best dessert I have ever seen in any restaurant. So... I do not know what happened over the weekend, but am thankful that the comments made me curious enough to visit! I will of course return, to enjoy the most delightful place I have ever experienced for lunch! And… I won’t believe everything I read on FB and I will be back!

The moment you walk in the gift shop, you realize that the Owners are Christians. It is such a breath of fresh air to see so many spiritual items scattered throughout a gift shop and tearoom. This feeling carries over to the service, atmosphere and food in the tearoom. Thank you for not being afraid to show your beliefs. It meant a lot to me.

Delicious. Charming. Beautiful Decor. Lovely music. Attentive service. We had a wonderful time and will return and bring friends! I could not help but notice the negative comments left over the weekend, and do not understand how anyone could have had a bad experience here.

I was one of the 18 women who was arriving for high tea. When we arrived as you've heard they were not prepared for us. I believe that they were aware of our month advance reservation when it was called in but apparently the staff did not write it down - 100% their fault, no miss communication!! So as christians we tried to make the best of the situation. That was quite difficult as the service was very poor!! I had to get up twice to go and find someone to serve us. The only one who seemed genuine was the woman in the back making our food. She happened to be at the reservation desk when I needed assistance and she was happy to help. I highly recommend that you find another tea house! This is not #1 in my book!!

Reservations for tea were made over a month ago,however, when we arrived after driving for almost 2 hrs, we were told that there was no record of our making reservations. Why would I make reservations over a month before today, 4/10/10, and also give a credit card # to hold the reservations, and also told the lady that we wanted high tea. Was told to call the day before if there cancellations, because there 18 in our party. We did have cancellations, so I called on 4/9 and told a man that we had some cancellations for tea and he said he would tell them. He even acknowledged that he had talked to me the day before. I had also posted on facebook on Fri. that I was looking forward to coming to tea on Sat. and they responded that they were looking forward to our coming. We went on & ordered lunch, and two of our people NEVER did get their lunch. The food was nothing extra. I don't know how this place was # 1 as we have been to tearooms all over Ky. & it definitely not # 1. WE WILL NOT BE BACK!!!!!

The ladies of my family tour Kentucky and visit tea houses. We decided to visit candleberry since it is listed as number one in Kentucky. We made reservations for high tea, when we arrived they didnot have our reservation correct. Some of us drove 2 hours and some were here for their first high tea. We ordered off the menu. Some never got their food! We asked for more crackers twice and got one package each time which became comical. We had to get up twice to get someone for more drinks. Not sure how this place got first. We brought 18 people and none of us will ever be back!

My Wedding Anniversary was last Wednesday. Thank you so much for making me look soooooooo good this year! I made a reservation for my wife and I at your restaurant. She was blown away by the ambiance, decor and food. The Kentucky Hot Brown was outstanding! She enjoyed the Sampler plate and said the quiche was awesome. The whole experience made our day. My best friend and I love out of the way places. We visited your tearoom Thursday. Delightful in every catagory. My plate was lovely and the food delicious. The desserts were unbeleivable – Coconut Merangue Pie! Thank you for telling me I could take some home. My husband loved the slice I took him! . Every detail was accounted for. Nice job!

We dropped in last Friday without a reservation for lunch. It seems it was standing room only. We were pleasantly surprised at the cordial welcome we recieved. The Owner didn't seem put out about having four more customers on top of everything else that was happening. The food was slightly slower than the last time we visited, but not badly timed considering the crush that was occuring. Our tea came out brewed perfectly, the food was outstanding as usual! My cousins and I had our monthly tea lunch at Candleberry's Tearoom and found it to be just delightful. We meet once and month and plan to go again. The furniture and decor were tea room perfect. We had a most memorable lunch and a wonderful time.

Mother and I have been coming to Candleberry Tearoom on a monthly basis after her doctor visits for a year or more. She has been attending for years before that. It has always been one of her favorite places to eat. The food has always been special, as has the service. The desserts fantastic. The Owner, Michelle, always has something sweet to say to my mom. It means a lot to her to have the Owner know her and ask how she is doing. We love coming and having time together

My husband and I were here on a very busy day. I think some group was having some sort of party. Even though the place was packed, our waitress treated us like we were her only customer. I was very impressed with the service, food and everything.

It is always a joy to meet my friends for lunch or special occasions at Candleberry Tearoom. The food is good, the service is excellent and the friendly staff is always willing to take our picture and provide a little something extra as we request.

Discovered your restaurant on facebook. My friend and I decided to give you a try. The food was wonderful! We each had dessert, but we can’t figure out which one was better, they were both so good. Haven’t tried any of the hot teas yet, but we will be back soon to do so.

Wow, our first time there and we were so impressed. The food was wonderful and we haven't experienced customer service like this in a long time. The tea shop had lots of people but we felt as if we were the only ones. Very attentive and sweet. We highly recommend and we will most definitely be back. Loved it!!!

The place is a nice atmosphere but the food leaves a lot to be desired. I found their recipe for their success and it comes from GFS. Nothing is homemade it is all pre-packaged food that is simply warmed and served. So I find that the prices for un-homemade food here is a bit too steep.

I took my girls for lunch and tea as a surprise for the four of us. I was not disappointed and my girls enjoyed it immensely. This will be our new girls day out place!

My family was traveling through your state last week on our way for Christmas with our family. We had found your tearoom here on Teamap and was intrigued by all the comments from satisfied customers so we found a way to schedule a stop to see for ourselves. My office came to Candleberry Tearoom for a Christmas get together. Even though it was a very busy place (many offices apparently had the same idea) we had a wonderful time. We have always had a pleasant experience on our visits. We don’t get to come often enough because we live about an hour away. They serve whole leaf tea with a wide variety. The food positively compliments the teas and is always fresh and delicious. The gift shop attached to the tea room is adorned with all sorts of interesting and tasteful items – and it seems to change everytime we come by. However, what makes this tearoom unique from others I have visited, is the staff. The owner and her serving staff make your experience absolutely wonderful. There is a gentleman waiter that was there on one our latest visit (he asked that we leave a comment here) that made us feel like the only customers even though the place was rather busy. I highly reccommend Candleberry tearoom to anyone wanting a peaceful afternoon to visit with a friend

I wish you sold your desserts by the whole pie. Everytime I visit, the dessert is the hightlight of my lunch.

My girlfriend and I first tried to visit this tearoom in the summer. It was closed to the public because of a party. We finally made it back there this week and it was well worth the wait and the long drive to get there. It was a cozy, relaxing atmosphere. The service was very nice and accommodating. The menu choices were wonderful and the raspberry iced tea was excellent. I can't wait for an excuse to go back again.

A few of us office ladies have been coming to the Tea Room for a couple of years and we always have our Christmas lunch there. While we have been satisfied with the food I am afraid after today's experience we will not be returning. Food was great as always but a misprint in the menu is not the customers fault. It was not appreciated the way that I was spoke to about the situation and I was told that I had to pay that. It was only a dollar more but besides the point. I know that I did not have to pay the amount and after the way I was treated I did not feel as though I should. The woman that waited on us was apologetic and I informed her that it was not her fault but another woman, I assume a manager, was not so polite. This is not the first time that we have had an instance where someone has had a poor sense of people skills but this will be the last time we will stopping in. Sad because we have enjoyed many a lunch there.

Two women and a man. We knew what to expect, but Mike was a little hesitant about eating at a teahouse. (He envisioned “girly” food that would leave him still hungry. But once he saw the menu and got his food in front of him, there was no doubt that he enjoyed himself very much. It is so nice to have a place to eat that appeals to the femine but yet is enjoyable to the masculine also. We will be back, with Mike!

The gift shop is full of wonderful items of all kinds. We could spend days in there and not see everything. We kept calling out to one another saying, “Oh look! Isn’t this beautiful”. The ambiance of the gift shop and tearoom are so unique and unexpected. We have never ever enjoyed a meal out so much, including other tearooms we have visited in the past. We were a party of five celebrating a girls day out and a better time could not have been had. The food was served quickly and wonderfully prepared. There was a wide selection of homemade desserts which we each got something different and passed them around. All were absolutely delicious.

I have to admit, for years I have been having lunch at the same places everyday. I am a creature of habit, and haven’t done much changing in my usual restaurants. I came to Candleberry’s on the advice of a friend who told me how good it was. They were right and I will be back often. Even though I have visited other tearooms in the area, I didn’t realize how wonderful the atmosphere of a true tearoom could be. There is a difference.

I am a member of the Kentucky National Guard. I had heard a few of the other soldiers talk about a good place to eat (your place), but I had not tried it until a few days ago. Really great food and such a relaxing place to sit down at lunchtime. I also appreciate one of your waiters saying, “We appreciate your service to our country”. I don’t get that very often. I could tell he meant it! I was told about your peanut butter pie, which you did not have the day I came (I understand your desserts change daily), but if it is as good as the “paradise pie” that I did have, I am sure I will enjoy it. I will be back and will tell others about Candleberry.

My wife and I stopped by your gift shop to purchase Candleberry Candles. We have heard from friends that those candles are the best around. While we were browsing the candles, we noticed that there was a restaurant attached and we were planning to stop somewhere for lunch after our shopping. We dropped into your restaurant for lunch. My wife loved the atmosphere. I loved the menu! What a pleasant place for lunch. The Kentucky Hot Brown is excellent! I told the gentleman at the gift shop counter that we enjoyed our meal a lot, and he asked me to drop you a comment here. We didn’t take time for dessert, but as we were leaving we heard two ladies in the parking lot talking about a pie they had just eaten. They were talking about how wonderfully rich it was. Candleberry’s Tearoom is everything a tearoom should be! I have visited a lot of so called “tearooms”, that were nothing more than a mediocere café or diner, one especially in this same town. But Candleberry’s Tearoom knows how to provide that tearoom feel and atmosphere. We got the best of both worlds, the café style menu and the tearoom atmosphere and service. I just simply love the quaint and cozy atmosphere. Elegant dishes, wonderfully delightful food. Service is very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed!
