If you like getting your tea served with the tea bag string coming out of the spout(no kidding) with a vinyl tablecloth by all means go there. I was astonished at the 'diner' feel this place had and couldn't wait to leave-absolutely zero atmosphere
Needs a total revamp in my book.

You can hear yourself think or enjoy the conversation of the person you are with here, moreso than at Teaberry's. This is a lot closer to the tearooms I experienced outside London in 2005. The cheese and onion pie is very similar to what I had in Bath and yummy. I drive about 50 miles to go shopping at Flemington and this is my favorite dish here. If you like the chintz and bricabrac and the sheer NOISE, by all means go to Teaberry's. If you want filling food with a bit of English flair and a nice variety close by the shopping, this is a GOOD place. I would say that Canterbury is a working, everyday tea room closer to what is in England currently and that the 'high Victorian' style is more a recent American invention. Only the big deluxe hotels like the Dorchester in London serve the triple stand. The teas served here are all to be found where I went to tea when I visited England.

At least the teas that are packaged are English and not ALL people like English tea only. Thanks for the variety. I thought the food was very exquisite and were English gems..AKA Pennylane, Cheese and Onion Pie, at least when I last visited there..Has been awhile..And at the time of my visit, there was an on-site baker making delicious bakery goods, aka, choc eclairs, Apple muffins in fall and homemade Fruit cake at Xmas time...

Canterbury Corner should not even be called a tea room. The tea comes in bags and is just an assortment of supermarket classics. The sandwiches were nothing more then ham and cheese on white bread. Terrible experience.

You would be better to spend your time and money at a real tea room like Teaberry's. They are also located in Flemington and you will not be disappointed here!!
