Food: About a year and a half ago, I discovered the Captain's Cottage while looking for a place to have my daughter's 9th birthday party. I can't believe I've lived in the East Bay for so long and not known about it. Glad I do now. We had tea, crumpets and all the rest for a group of nine girls in the Captain's Room. They were all at one table and one other mom and I were able to also sit in the room but at our own table for two. It was absolutely wonderful! Lois, the proprietress, handled everything so spectacularly. Her demeanor, stories, etc.--all of it made it special and fun for the girls. Food: I went to Captain's Cottage last week with my mom, dad and sister, and loved it! I didn't even know tea places existed until I visited one in Tennessee. I wasn't sure I would find one in California with the same charm and good food, but Captain's Cottage has it! The decor is cute as can be, and the staff is so friendly! I will definitely visit again and again! |

Food: The tea shop has improved in decor. Before, it was cluttered with teddy bears on every shelf. The food, however is not that great. Everything including the tea comes warm not hot. There is no warmer for the tea. All the foods are soft in texture and equally bland in color and taste. Nothing is hot or crispy. No kitchen at the shop. foods taste like Costco items. Had to ask to have my teapot filled. the young server (been there several times) always forgets even though I might be the only customer there. The shop could be improved. |
