Variety: I visit this tea house on a regular, just about 4 -5 times per week. With the large variety of tea they serve I am certain that I will never grow tired of drinking tea. The service is always top notch and the decor is very classy. I would highly recomend this tea house to anyone who has a true love for tea. |

Variety: I'm not sure why so many people feel there is a need for music. If you want that kind of atmosphere then Starbucks is more your speed. This place is not sterile, it's a calm oasis where conversation takes precedent. The point is to focus on the tea, not decor or music. I have also never found the service there lacking. They are always extremely friendly and good tea takes time. The cookies are made from tea and they actually go quite well most what they serve. I wouldn't exactly call them an asian tea room as they serve teas from all over the world. Their website even calls them a contemporary tea house. I've only been to one other place that I have liked more than Cha Ma Gu Dao. Don't let these negative reviews stop you from visiting. |

Variety: Chamagudao is excellent in so many ways, but I wonder if the owner reads the reviews? The ambiance is colder than a Popsicle--a little music, either classical or electronic 'chill' would be in order. I have also gotten merely adequate service when you would think that the staff would go out of their way when business is slow. I won't elaborate because the other reviews are accurate--this place is quite a mixed bag when it should be spectacular. Too much depends on a throw of the dice. |

Variety: This teahouse is fantastic! They carry something like 300 teas! I am an avid tea drinker and was pleased to come across a place in town serving a quality cup of tea. Simple, and inviting. |

Variety: I visited twice and am an avid tea drinker. I found the ambience to be sterile more than modern. I get the sparce decorations, but it was just bland more than anything. There was no background music to set any sort of mood so my table could hear the conversations of the other two tables echoing throughout the restaurant. The employees seemed more interested in their own conversation than in helping us or making us feel welcome, even though the place was nearly empty. I don't get the Parisian cookies/pastries in a Chinese styled tea house. I was expecting at least some Asian type sweets and savories. Location is not great either. I am really not sure how they've stayed in business for so long. Both trips were disappointing and I have no plans to go back. |

Variety: I absolutely loved this tea house. The decor is modern but inviting. Their tea menu is larger than the menus at many restuarants. 250 types of loose leaf tea is quite a selection! I had a hard time deciding but eventually settled on the high mountain light roasted oolong. It was heavenly. The service was great, both during my tea and while making other purchases as well. I picked up a japanese white tea, a beautiful small washi box and one of their three tiered tea tins. I cannot wait to go back and try their other teas as well as the delicious looking cookies they had. This place is truely a hidden gem. Parking can be tough in downtown Montclair so I suggest using the municipal parking lot that is just before the store. |

Variety: This tea house is AWESOME. The owner, Miu (at least I think she's the owner), was there and, despite being short-staffed, went out of her way to make me a free cup of tea for the wait. I bought some Earl Grey and Rum Vanilla loose tea. The Rum Vanilla is really good. I highly recommend it. |
