Variety: It's been some time since our visit, sorry it's taken so long to review! My family and I travel far and wide for afternoon tea, just about every week. This is a very unique experience, a tea-and-tour hosted by the owners of the mansion. Very warm, genuine service, you feel like you're visiting old friends. We accidentally left my son's hat on his chair, and when we drove back to retrieve it, the hostess sent my husband back with an extra scone for the road because she knew how much we loved them. Very nice people. Go for a different type of tea experience! |

Variety: We spent 4.5 hours with Zeda. Unfortunately Dennis was gone. We have experienced teas from New Zealand to Canada to England and be assured this was a memorable experience. Very enjoyable and we will return. |

Bill and Clare, I look forward to your next visit. The time we spent together was filled with joy for me. I wanted you to stay longer, you both have such wisdom, some many experiences. Dennis will not be away for business the next time. He is looking forward to meeting you both. Thank you for coming for Tea with me. God Bless, and travel back here safely, we will be waiting.

Variety: Zeda and Dennis are superb hosts. They are gracious and they make their guests feel special. They are both full of life, great conversationalist, and listeners too. The food was delicious! My friends and I had a great time! |

Variety: WOW! We have been to the teahouse on two separate occasions. First my husband and I went out of a curiosity for Victorian-era homes and then we returned for my daughters' 11th birthday party. Both times were phenomenal. The first time we not only received excellent food and a wide collection of teas (I favoured the Queens' Tea!) but we got a delightful tour of the tea house and the many collectables housed within. Dolls? Yes. Music? Yes. Furniture? Fixtures? Victrolas? Woodwork? History? Yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes. We there about three hours and had an extraordinary adventure. We returned for the birthday party and once again they did not disappoint. Not only did Zeda research and create a special tea just for the girls, she made tea cakes and sandwiches that they devou... Luanne,Thank you for your lovely remarks. I do indeed remember your first visit with your husband then the second time with the girls. Your daughter and her friends were so well behaved, I welcome them back anytime. Good job mum and Dad. |

Variety: This was the most amazing tea experience that my friends and I have had. It was unlike the normal tea room experience, much better. Deep in the redwoods this old mansion adds flavor to the wonderful food and amazing service. The environment was almost spiritual and the couple that runs the business was so accommodating and friendly. My husband, who is a manly man, even enjoyed it. This spot will for sure be on the mandatory to do list each time I visit the Northern California area. |

Dion,Thank you for your lovely comments. I must say that both my husband and I remarked on what a striking beauty you are. You and your husband make a handsome couple. |

Variety: Just had a bridal shower here last weekend. The place is very pretty, though difficult to find. Service and food were average. The owners were very talkative and, honestly, quite odd. Not sure I'll be coming back again, nor do I recommend it. |

Heather and Miss C, (review below) both found our home pretty. We appreciate that. Our home and tea room is nestled in the heart of the redwood forest. To find such beauty, one must search for it. This reviewer found us talkative and odd. If odd means to be eccentric enough to rescue an old mansion and turn it into a place of beauty, to be enthusiastic about ones joys in life and share this with others, then we are indeed odd. Most people attending tea here enjoy the tea, food, Mansion, its history, tour and the antiques that accompany the experience. One must come to see for themselves. |

Variety: Though the house was beautiful, the owners charged us for 10 people when only 9 were there. When my sister emailed them afterwards to ask about it, she got a long response back, with the owner (Zeda Elizabeth Ali Dowell) calling the tea guests rude, and telling her that all their proceeds go to charity, so asking for a refund was making laser eye patients in Guyana suffer: 'patients who cannot afford treatment will serve the consequences.' 'I am sorry to say but because of your bridal shower and the rudeness of your guests, I will have to reconsider doing any more showers I do believe this will be a loss to this community but we do not need this to happen again to us.' Wow - all this after asking for clarification of an overcharge of one person? We were all very nice a... (more) |

Tearoom Response
We wish to thank 'Miss C' for her comment regarding how beautiful our home is. We have received separate email expressing what a good time was had by all. The person requesting this party was given a contract and she informed us that 10 people would attend. 10 people were prepared for, tea and food were consumed for 10. Even so, to keep her happy, we have offered to refund the amount of one person. We care for all our customers and have never called anyone rude. To do so would be counter-productive and wrong. The implication by this reviewer that someone in a third world country would go without surgery because of one tea not collected from our tea room is silly. Proceeds from our tea room do go to several charities as will be the case for this party. This reviewer is not telling the truth. |

Variety: My girlfriends and I had a wonderful time at this beautiful, antique-filled home. Zeda and Dennis do welcome you into their lovely home and share its rich history with you. They offer a wide variety of teas not commonly found in most tea rooms as well as the usual teas like Earl Grey. Our gumbo was rich and hearty and the butterscotch pecan scones were warm, buttery and sweet. Zeda brought plenty of fluffy cream for the scones to keep some of us from pilfering our neighbors dish. This is a warm and inviting place tucked into the redwoods and I highly recommend it. |

Variety: I visit tea rooms often and I must say this one was a most wonderful experience. While a bit different than a fluffy tea room, it rates for me right at the top. The food was excellent, ample and fresh. Zeda and her husband Dennis are great hosts who invite you into their home, share experiences and serve one of the most wonderful tea lunches I have ever had in the large dining room of this beautiful renovated mansion in the hills. It sets the stage making you feel like you are transported to a country home in Europe. While there is plenty of time to visit with the pals you bring to tea, you also leave feeling like you have met and made new friends in Zeda and Dennis. Just a wonderful experience. I hope to visit again soon. |
