Cozy's Tea Room

In two words: ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!Had this been my first tea room experience, I don't think I'd ever try another.Definitely not worth the 66 miles and 1/4 tank of gas.On a scale of 1 - 10, 1 being poorest,I'd rate them as a -7.The 'fresh' food,cheese and fruit, looked like they were pulled from a buffet that was over 3 days ago.Strawberries had soft brown,over ripe spots, pineapple pieces were either dark and shriveled, or parts of the core. Way too many sweets, small cupcakes with white icing and blue sprinkles.. um did you pick these up at a food lion? Mini sandwiches were so-so. Egg salad was runny with mayo,cucumber sandwich..was on 'crusty' white bread...altho minus the crusts. The waitress' finger nails were dirty and she couldn't explain the foods on the trays. She made a comment,'oh y... (more)ou'll figure it out'.The waitress came to our table with a purell bottle and cleaned her hands in front of us at the table. Hands,not fingernails...try some running water next time. Not to mention that her black uniform was dirty. There was a wet/musty smell that got worse when the a/c turned off. The only decent part of this fiasco, was the tea. Although good, was disappointed that it was only Harney & Son tea offered (bagged tea) and they were out of many of the flavors they 'usually have'. Oh, and the price? Way too much..$18.99 became $23.xx with tax and added 20% gratuity. Yes, THEY ADDED the 20%.The waitress seemed surprised that we didn't want to take the two tiers of sweets home.Oh please,we had put ourselves through enough gastrointestinal disappointment and distress.The tea 'room' was actually part of the restaurant that was separated by an accordian-folding type of divider.
