Variety: On October 30th I had the distinct pleasure of joining my friends for our 'Witches Brew' tea. What a wonderful time. The food was outstanding and the host and hostess most gracious. Can't wait to return next month for our Holiday Tea. |

Variety: Ditto to everything Joyce said. I was one of the 12 there for a Halloween Tea. I also had been there before and will be returning for the Candlelight Tea. They are the most accommodating and gracious hosts you will ever have. The food is absolutely delicious. Kudos to Laurie and Roger. |

Variety: Twelve of us ladies enjoyed another wonderful tea at the Cross and Bluebird on Saturday, October 31, for Halloween. Having been there before, I knew the service would be great and we would get the royal treatment. Laurie and Roger once again went out of their way to make the event extra special for us. The table setting was beautiful and the food was plentiful and delicious. If you want to experience a tea room that gives you lovely atmosphere, tasty tea, delicious food, and warm hospitality, this is the place to come. You won't be disappointed. In fact, 13 of us will be returning again on November 29 for the Candlelight Tea with Ulysses S. Grant and Mrs. Julia Dent Grant. Can’t wait!! Thanks Laurie and Roger. |

Variety: On July 12, 2009 my sister, her daughter, my daughter and I had tea at Cross and Bluebird. It was a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and each of the teas we chose was exceptional. Being Civil War re-enactors we were very interested in the history of the farm. The charming quilt in the Garden room started a delightful conversation about our mutual interest in quilts and quilting. We will certainly return to Cross and Bluebird. We will also pass on the word about this great place. Nancy |

Variety: My husband loves Civil War history so I thought this would be a place for us to go, he gets the history and I get to go for a relaxing tea luncheon!!! Even if you are not interested in Civil War history, this is a wonderful tea room. We went there for tea last week. Laurie and Roger were amazing hosts. We had a relaxing afternoon. The zucchini soup was homemade and delightful! The scones were still warm from the oven! The tea sandwiches were creative and plentiful. The desserts were very good too. I would highly recommend the tea room. Our tea was lovely! I think Laurie and Roger have a great attention to detail and service! We have been to many tea rooms all over the country and this tea room is one of my favorites! *Please remember it is not located in the actual town part of Gettysburg, but it is well worth the short drive!!! |

Variety: Cross and Bluebird is wonderful! We just had a bridal tea for my daughter and everyone had a great time. The setting and atmosphere set the tone and Laurie and Roger were perfect hosts making everyone welcome and relaxed. The food and the tea were both excellent. A whole outbuilding with teapots... what more could you want? |

Variety: I've been to a lot of tea rooms, and Cross & Bluebird is by far the best. I've been back many times, bringing different friends each time and they all agree that it is the best tea room they've been to. Even the guys love it - and want to go back. Each visit is just as wonderful as the time before - if not better! Laurie & Roger are the most gracious hosts. They are very welcoming, making you feel like friends from the moment you arrive. Their home is cozy and full of history - we can talk for hours about the history of the area. And Laurie's cooking is to die for - especially her soups!! And the portions are more than enough to fill you up - twice! I can not say enough good things about this great tea room and recommend it to everyone. Laurie & Roger - you are the best! ... (more) |

Variety: My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our tea at The Cross and Bluebird this past Friday. The farm itself was built in the 1700s and is FULL of fascinating history, both before and after the Civil War, which Laurie is more than happy to fill you in on. You are greeted by their cats, sheep, chickens and roosters as you enter. Inside, the home itself is full of enchanting history and decor and exudes a real sense of peace. The tea, from Harney and Sons, is sublime, matched only by Laurie's cooking, which is gourmet quality with very generous portions. The price is very reasonable and it is well worth the drive to PA for this wonderful get-away. By the way,you can easily get there by following the directions off of route 15. |

Variety: What an enjoyable tea I experienced with my friends this past Sunday. We all enjoyed the tea called Paris along with the chocolate tea that was served with our chocolate cheesecake. Both teas were wonderful and blended well with the food that was served to all of us by the most gracious and informative hosts. It was like we stepped back in time. I absolutely enjoyed myself and hope to return soon with my friends for another day of much needed laughter. Thanks Laurie and Roger for making the day so enjoyable. |

Variety: I definitely recommend the Cross and Bluebird to everyone that loves to go to teas and has a love for history. Seven of us ladies enjoyed a St. Patty’s Day tea on Sunday and Laurie and Roger made us feel special from the moment we arrived. The atmosphere of their home was very warm and inviting. This is now my all time favorite place to have tea. I am already looking forward to returning when the shops are open and the weather will allow us to enjoy the outdoor settings. Having tea at the Cross and Bluebird was such a delightful experience and one that we will definitely do again. Thanks Laurie and Roger. |

Variety: Wendy, The point is....This tea room IS NOT in GETTYSBURG!!! So, why does the tea hostess have a Gettysburg address on this tea map? I think she should list her tea room in the town which it resides; HUNTERSTOWN... Not GETTYSBURG.....It is very misleading. |

Tearoom Response
Tori,We are located in historic Hunterstown, 4 miles NE of Gettysburg. Hunterstown does not, as of yet, have its own post office, hence the Gettysburg address. Directions are given on our website, or we'd be happy to give them when you call. Laurie & Roger |
|
Variety: I've not been there yet but plan on going. Did any of you, who couldn't find it in G-Burg, think of getting directions from this site first. I just looked and got detailed directions. I never try a new tea room out of town without getting good directions from their site or from the tea hostess when I book my reservation. I also ask about the parking situation. |

Variety: The food is fantastic, the house is fascinating, but most of all, Laurie is wonderful. She made us feel as though we were invited friends in her home - and we were by the time we left!!! Lovely in every way. |

Variety: What a lovely experience. I held a bridal party for my daughter and Laurie was more than accomodating for the event. The girls loved the food and the home is so warm and cozy. Laurie and Roger are amazing hosts. Our second experience was a birthday party for my mother. We included the guys and everyone had such a wonderful time. The food was beautifully presented and was absolutely delicious. The 'guys' were concerned about going to a tea and getting enough to eat but they were all very happy and full when we left. Laurie went the extra mile to make my mother feel special on that day. Roger was great with the guys taking them on a tour of the home and discussing the events of the period and the weapons. We are looking forward to our next vist. |

Variety: I would recommend the Cross and Bluebird to everyone that loves to go to teas and especially loves history. It is a lovely old home that is full of history and the two people in charge, Laurie & Roger, makes it even more special. The food is also out of this world. It is a MUST GO SEE and experience. |

Variety: My husband and I had lunch/tea here recently and it was an amazing experience! The peanut soup was so delicious and the scones just melted in my mouth! There was more food than we could eat! Roger and Laurie are wonderful hosts and truly take pride in their home. The setting at the Tate Farm is so peaceful and quaint. As a photographer I found some superb photo ops! For those Civil War buffs and historians, the Tate Farm was the site for George Washington's and later, General Custer's visit. I highly recommend the short drive away from the hub-bub of Gettysburg to visit this tea room! It will be worth your while!!! |
