Overview

As you enter the Crown & Thistle Tea Room you are greeted by a small gift shop full of beautiful and fun tea-related items. All of the seventy teas from our tea menu can be purchased and our knowledgeable staff is available to answer any tea questions.
Customers can be served either in the Scottish Room or the Garden Room. The Scottish Room has a traditional feel where murals of castles and glens of the highlands surround you on all four walls. The Garden Room is decorated with painted magnolias, beautiful birds and vivid butterflies caught in mid-flight. All of the tables are set with fresh flowers, silver plated flatware and pressed linens.
The lunch menu has something for everyone from traditional English fare to vegetarian choices. We serve lunch on cream porcelain dinnerware and during tea time our fine bone china is used to create a truly elegant experience. You may choose from patterns of lilacs, roses or violets acquired in honor of my grandmothers and great aunt.
We believe that afternoon tea is an experience of delicious food, bottomless tea pots, pleasant conversation and good manners. Our staff is very friendly, engaging and strives to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. Visit us soon to enjoy a reprieve from today's fast pace world!
Lunch is offered Mon.- Sat. 11:00 - 1:30 p.m. and Afternoon Tea is served at 11 & 3 o'clock. Please call for reservations or for a schedule of upcoming events.

Beautifully decorated wall and tables that leave a lasting impression. It was a hot day and the rooms were a bit warm, but everthing else was lovely. The tomato soup was tasty, the mini crabcake were a pleasent suprise and the chocolate covered strawberries were a fabulous finish.

I took eight of my coworkers to our end of the year luncheon this afternoon - to glowing praise. Everyone marveled at the selection of items on the menu and fine quality of the food. After trying the homemade key lime pie, one of my colleagues exclaimed, 'That is the BEST key lime pie I have EVER had!' We appreciated the warm service (the staff went out of their way to please us), the pampering atmosphere and certainly the respite this lovely establishment brought us. I highly, highly recommend a visit to The Crown and Thistle! You will not be disappointed!

This is such a nice tea room, I am glad they serve lunch as I can go there more often! I love to take visiting friends for lunch, but recently I set up a group lunch of 16 for the moms of 5th graders at St. Joseph's School. They loved it so much - the food, the service and price - they insisted I set up another for May. Not one complaint from anyone. We enjoyed the tea selections, the choices of entrees and the 'get away'.

When I travel from NJ to visit my daughter in MD, we always go to tea. During my visit to see her in March, she took me to the Crown and Thistle for afternoon tea and I was truly taken in. The tea shop has wonderful, authentic offerings from the UK and a wide selection of teas from the expansive menu. What impressed me the most was the genuine staff (you can tell they truly love working here), and the superb quality of the food. Everything was prepared with the freshest of ingredients, and very temptingly and artfully arranged. My daughter loves this tea room, and simply, so do I. Thanks to everyone at the Crown and Thistle! I can't recommend this place highly enough.

This Tea Room was GREAT!! I was recently given a baby shower here as a private party on a Sunday. This china was beautiful, the music enchanting and the servers were very friendly. All of the guests had a wonderful time and continuously commented how great the food was. The owner, Jen, made it a very Special Day - a time I will never forget! I will definitely be back soon! And I must add how much I loved the Scottish Room. Thank you for a delightful time by all.

My friend Melissa and I went to tea here about a month ago. We try and go to tea often. I really enjoyed Crown & Thistle on our visit. Not what you expect from a tea room in a strip mall. The food was wonderful although I would have liked to have had the banger roll but I think the server misunderstood and thought we both wanted the mini crab cake (which I couldn't eat). But from what I understand the crab cake was very good.
I'll be taking my sister and mother here very soon!

My first time at the Crown and Thistle was great. The staff worked with me for a tea tasting and they were very pleasant and hospitable. The china was beautiful and the the food was delicious. (Rave reviews about the soup and salad)There were 18 in my party, and we thoroughly enjoyed the high tea in the lovely Scottish room. I highly recommend this tearoom. Many in my group plan to return for tea in the near future.

I went with my ZTA Alum group on February 26. The tea selection was excellent. We ordered several different types and the tea kept flowing throughout our stay. The high tea comes with soup, salad, assorted sandwiches, scones, and cookies. All were superior and we ended up taking some of it home with us. They have a little shop in the front where you can buy the teas that you enjoyed while dining. The atmosphere is very cozy, the dinner ware is elegant, and I loved the paintings of the birds on the walls. The service was excellent. I highly recommend this tea house.

I headed here for my annual High Tea ($21.95) with my ZTA Alum group. When you walk in you are welcome by hand painted murals the cover the walls. We were in the Garden room where the walls have hand painted magnolia flowers and beautiful birds resting on vines. The tables are set with English fine bone china.

The High Tea includes the following:
1. Donna’s delight salad- spring mix, pine nuts, dried cranberries and crumbled blue cheese sprinkled with raspberry vinaigrette. This salad was very light and refreshing and the pine nuts and cheese crumbles added a great texture.
2. Soup of the day. I had the Tomato Bisque which was very good and had lots of chucks of tomato. It was very smooth besides the chunks. They also have a chicken tex-mex soup that sounded very good.... (more)

Wow. I went to my first tearoom at Crown & Thistle with my friend Tameaka Shelton a couple of months ago. What a wonderful time I had. The tea is delicious and the food is outstanding. I have never had anything I didn't like. The soups are fabulous. I can only speak of great things to say about Crown & Thistle. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The owner is extremely accommodating and the atmosphere is very soothing. I look forward to Saturday's so I can call Tameaka and say 'It's Crown & Thistle time'. I can’t say enough about the tearoom but 'TRY IT YOU’LL LOVE IT'

This was my second visit, and I can't say enough good things about this place! I have enjoyed many tearooms in the state, and what sets Crown & Thistle apart from the rest is their policy of allowing customers to try many different pots of tea throughout the visit. The tea selection is extensive, so this is your chance to have some fun! Being a black tea (no fuss) person, I enjoy their Ceylon and Queen Catherine teas. As for the food provided for the Afternoon Tea, delicious! Three types of scones with an unlimited supply of our selected condiments (no rationing the devon cream here!), three clever tea sandwiches, and three types of tasty sweets were more than filling. It all showed an attention to detail, and the server couldn't have been more attentive and personable. I will make this tearoom a stop whenever I'm in the area.

This was my second visit to Crown & Thistle & both times the food was great & the server was very friendly but the music was very annoying. Both times it was Louis Armstrong & was played too loud & not very conducive to quiet conversation.

tearoom response
Marsha, Thank you for letting us know that the food was great and the server was very friendly both times you were here. I only wish that on your second visit that you had mentioned something to us because we could have easily changed the music. We generally play upbeat music during lunch and softer music during tea time. While we know that we can not satisfy everyone's musical tastes 100% of the time we do have several choices of CD's - Spanish guitar, Dinner in Paris, Celtic Mystic, Pachelbel, Vivaldi, Woodland Harp and English Country Garden - just to name a few. We carry all of these titles in our tea shop and occasionally a customer will ask us to play a CD as they dine so they may hear it before they purchase it. Next time please don't be shy, so you can enjoy your entire visit!

We went for a light tea to relax with family and friends before a wedding. Although setting up the tea wasn't as easy as I would have liked, our experience there was very enjoyable. I am a tea novice, but the staff was helpful in selecting teas and making the experience a relaxing, serene one. I highly recommend this place for a gathering or a break from the hustle and bustle.

My daughter and I had been here before. This time we took my mother and a friend of mine to have tea. My mother and our friend enjoyed the tea house sooo much. They loved the ambiamce and was not crowded. The teas were plentiful and warming. The soup was creamy and the scones a delite. The meal was fresh and a sheer delight. My daughter thought the crab ball was a real treat! My grilfriend needed a little R and R and told me she really had a wonderful couple of hours at the tea house with us. And it was great seeing her smile. If you get a chane to visit The Crown & Thistle do so the people are wonderful as well as the food. Go and take a break from the day and the world. You wont be disapointed! We will be back for sure hope to see you there.

My daughters and I spent a wonderful afternoon at Crown & Thistle. The tea list is huge and we each got a little pot of our own and between us we tried 4 or 5 different varieties before we were done. Our server never seemed to tire of refilling our pots. My favorite was the Keenum Panda. The food was really well done - we especially enjoyed the delicate cucumber sandwiches, the sizzling hot banger rolls, and the scones with cream and jam. We opted for the high tea menu and the soup and salad were absolutely delicious and fresh and beautifully served. Our server was especially attentive and warm. From the place settings to the ambiance to the food to the service - there is nothing negative to say, except - I wish I lived a little closer!
