This is a tearoom with a secret. It is also a great restaurant! The entrees are creative feasts and the soups are exquisite. We tried a unique Strawberry Rose cold soup. It was delicate, fragrant, and mildly sweet. I had the Penne ala Vodka that was to die for. My friend chose the Salmon with a fresh peach glaze that was heaven.
The room has a spacious layout. Tables are placed at a very comfortable distance affording an air of privacy in an otherwise open room. And yet, both times I've dined there I found myself caught up in friendly conversation with other diners–mostly about the great food. If you are going to Beacon, or if you're lucky enough to live there, you MUST try The Cup and Saucer.

Thank you both for making the evening so much fun. You brought with you good humour and I had a delightful time with both of you. My sign on the wall which says 'Enter as strangers, leave as friends' says it all.

Shirley,
My daughter Krystal and I had a
tea-riffic time at your tea house. Everthing from the decor, ambiance friendly and couteous service not to mention the tea-lightful lunch we share. I especially enjoyed the strawberry chill soup and mango smoothtea. My daughter love the scone. Thank you so much for being so friendly and courteous. I have been to other tearoom in which people are so unpleasant. You surely have a piece of heaven within your soul. I wish you great success!!! I will be looking forward to Mondays from now on thinking of what you have dreamt up for lunch.

Cup and Saucer Tea Room
This place was fabulous and I am really glad we drove out to Beacon, NY for this experience. It was worth the drive. We are definitely planning on going back, especially for one of their monthly special events (like “Jeopartea” on April 6, 2008). The “tea party for one special” came with six tea sandwiches, all unique and all in a different shape, tea, a scone, and small desserts. The tea sandwich with cinnamon bread (shaped like a diamond) was magnificent, the turkey one with cranberries was splendid, and the egg salad (shaped like a butterfly) was outstanding. The blueberry lemon scone with lemon curd was the best I have ever had. It was crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. Nydia had the “brunch special” (comes with soup, salad, tea, choic... (more)e of entre, and choice of dessert). Her choice of soup was the some type of potato and corn with cheese soup. We both loved it. Her choice of entre was the ham and asparagus quiche. Nydia and I got a chance to meet the owner/chef as well. She and our waitress was spectacular and remarkable! I am impressed with this place and have been inspired to make the next tea party I have even better than the last.
Here is a snippet of each picture:
Pic 434: Nydia and I eating our meals. Also notice the tea cozy. I wish I had taken a picture of the tea pot because it was unique and beautiful.
Pic 435: Another pic of us.
Pic 437: The chef/owner’s signature: bread pudding. This bread pudding was a special dessert for the day. It was a cranberry orange bread pudding with an apricot (I think) glaze on top and a lemon custard sauce on the bottom. This was the best bread pudding I have ever had!
Pic 438: Nydia and I with the chef/owner. She has worked at this place as the chef for six years but became owner about 18 months ago. She is from England. Notice the background - lots of beautiful stuff for sale. I love how she has the tea cup and saucers hanging from the wall. Good idea! 3/16/08

What a wonderful city and the perfect place for afternoon tea! I was delighted to find this tea room on my first visit to Beacon. I will recommend it to all of my friends for bridal showers and baby showers...a perfect place to celebrate with family and friends. Keep up the great food, atmopshere, and outstanding service. I felt like we were the only table in the room.

I love this place. The ambience is delightful. I had the black bean soup that was absolutely phenonmenal. The warm 'salzburg' rice pudding was the best I have ever had. I should know because I have been to Austria. I am so looking forward to their Octoberfest. The owner was so friendly, but would not share her secret 'family' recipe. The service was exceptional!!!

I visit the tearoom from time to time with my mom & sister, and live in Beacon. Every time we have gone to the tearoom we have had an excellent experience. The staff was VERY friendly and the food was delightful! We are not sure why some people are wrting such negative things. We recommend it 100% and believe that you will not be disappointed.

Thankyou Jill for your kind words, I too am at a loss and don't understand the negative comments. We hand out comment cards so that we can get feedback to either improve or help any unsatisfied customers. I can only say that our comment cards do not reflect the negativity of some of our reviews. Thank you again and I appreciate your ongoing loyalty. Shirley

we were very disappointed.
we visited on a very hot day. no customers in the tearoom when we entered and we had to wait about 5 minutes, and then had to finally ask, to get any ice water to quench our thirst, while we looked the
menu over. Husband order special
of the day.........potato pancakes.
came out burned. sent them back and staff replaced them with some
that were a 'little' less burned.
3, not much bigger than a silver
dollar...not much for the money.
my spinach quiche excellent and
also accompanying salad. Friend
had spinach, strawberry salad.
Was supposed to have strawberry
dressing which was not what she
was served. Nice but no exceptional.
Scones very good, however, no
cream (whipped butter instead) ) and jelly... (more)R>
was served in small Smuckers plastic
package such as the diners serve
with their breakfast toast.
We expected a 'little' more elegance. Certainly not a cheerful
atmosphere. Young lady and young
man running the tearoom who seemed
to really not want to be there.
perhaps we hit it on a bad day, but
would certainly not go back.

I am very sorry that you felt unsatisfied with the special, potato pancake Appetizer, that you ordered I was not made aware of your dis-satisfaction and would certainly have made amends. The strawberry salad ALWAYS has the strawberry vinaigrette and you may possibly have been confused by the Balsamic glace drizzled on the top.
Water is only served when requested and unfortunately you are correct when pointing out that the young waitress seemed to really not want to be here. We have since granted her wish and she has moved on and is no longer with us.
