Had such a good time at your restaurant and wanted to thank you for all the great information you gave us. We're definately bringing 'the Beast' our pug to Beacon Barks on Saturday. See you then.

Are you kidding me! I just wanted to write a review for a tea room that I thought was outstanding. When I read the previous reviews I thought they must be thinking of a different tea room. Where I went today was wonderful, plaid tablecloths, decor etc. was beautiful. I also had a afternoon tea and don't understand the complaints one bit. My tea was hot and my sanwiches were tasty and desserts were yummy. If I lived near there I would I think I would go a lot.

Wow!! I am shocked at the two lastest reviews that the Cup & Saucer Tea Room received. I have been thoughly enjoying tea at this establishment for the past 6 years.Their selection of teas are enormous. They even give you a choice of tea pot sizes. So if your only looking for a spot of tea chose the small pot. If you love tea, as much as I do, than go for the large. You will get at least 4 tea cups full out of this size. I have also enjoyed the meals served there. Their homemade, yes I said homemade, chicken soup is as good as the memory of my mothers. My three favorite things to eat there are the freshly made bread pudding, the curry chicken salad, and the sheppards pie. All made by the owner, Shirley. I always bring friends and family there whenever they come to visit. The seating area is... (more)

After reading all of the positive reviews about this tea house over the years, I was delighted to have the opportunity to bring my 2 children to the tea house on 2/18/12. My family and I have visted several tea rooms over the years and had high expectations for the cup and saucer. Unfortunatley this experience was very disappointing. I should have see the red flags when I saw the limited tea menu, or when the sugar bowl had sugar and sweet and low packets jammed into it. However, I hoped for the best. Aftenoon tea in the tea house resembled a hodge podge affair. The sandwiches not finger sandwiches, unless you are a giant. The scones resembled mushrooms with cream cheese in the middle and the desserts were dime sized hard as rock cookies, I think, and brownie bites that I am sure cam... (more)

I am sorry you did not enjoy your experience here, and I remember the incident with the egg salad. The plastic you refer to was just a stray frill from the toothpick and you failed to mention that you were not charged for your egg salad sandwich.
The finger sandwiches may not be as small as you are used too, but I try to make sure that my customers don't leave hungry.
I make make my scones in a muffin pan, the same pan I make my brownies in, when they rise they get mushroom tops which most people adore.
Again I am sorry that you did not have a great time.

I have been to about 10 tea rooms in the states and many in both France & England. After seeing all of the five star reviews on here, I was excited to try the Cup & Saucer Tea Room today with two friends. Unfortunately, It did not live up to all of this hype. ... The waitress asked for our order when I had barely even taken my coat off yet. When I asked if they used loose leaf teas, I was told 'no, not for the Afternoon tea party.' The grocery store quality tea bags are just left in the pot with no timer, no nothing, not even a place to rest the bags after brewing. The desserts included blueberry muffins (so odd?) and what appeared very much like store bought brownie bites one would find at costco. Also, they were out of BOTH quiche AND crepes? How bizarre. Not to mention that ever... (more)

Tearoom Response
I thank you ladies for taking the time to come all the way from NJ to visit the tea room and am sorry it was disappointing to you. It was an unexpectedly very busy day for a Monday (Presidents Day), and Joan my server was trying hard to please everyone, including taking the time to take your pictures and talk to you about the area. I myself was at your table and could have addressed any issues you had. I was oblivious to any discomfort and apologize.
As far as being out of crepes and quiche, as I mentioned it was a very busy lunch and we ran out. I make my food fresh and in quantities I feel will serve the day.
My glass showcases are filled with more than the 3 crazy cat lady mugs you focused on including china tea cups and saucers ,teapots, gift sets, miniature teacups, whimsical teapots, salt and pepper collectibles and a variety of teas and English items.

I must follow up by saying that reviews good or bad can make or break a business, and in this economy it is even harder to please every one.
I understand that customers can be disappointed in many different ways, and I try hard to satisfy my guests given the opportunity.

I am loving it here. The food, the music, the atmosphere all come together in perfect harmony to make the most enjoyable meal. They have won me over. This is my new best restaurant in Southern Dutchess/Beacon area.

What a beautiful place this tea room is. I went there to discuss my soon to be daughter in law's Bridal Shower. Shirley was so helpful and talked about all the details with such professionalism. I am so happy I went and have decided this is definately the place to host the shower.

Incredibly fun evening at the cup and Saucer Tea Room's Gingerbread House demo. My wife and I had a great time making Gingerbread houses and Shirley was a wonderful hostess, she was flitting from table to table commenting and helping every one. The baker Derek was very informative and was a great help. The whole evening was very special and we're definitely going to do it again next year.

Wednesday is the perfect day for my lunch club since we're older and most of us don't like to go out on the weekends. One of my ladies suggested the Tea Room because her grand daughter had been given a surprise shower there and commented on how wonderful it was. I was elected to post this review since I'm the youngest (63). We all had a great time, Joan our waitress is as old as we are and we enjoyed her tremendously. Of course the food and tea were good, as well as the atmosphere.

I live in NYC but traveled to Beacon to see my Aunt for Thanksgiving. She took me to the cup and saucer tea room for lunch as she knows I like a good cuppa. They had a wonderful variety of teas and I settled for the Pumpkin Spice, a warm fall flavored tea that hit the right spot. We shared a tea party for two which was delicious and oh so pretty.
I had a really nice weekend topped off by going to this tea room. I'm happy to think about my Aunt enjoying her tea etc. when I think of her.

Stopped in with my Mother to see if we would host my sister's Baby Shower here, I'd seen it on facebook and it looked cute, but you never know until you go in person. I don't live in the area but came home for Thanksgiving, so it was the perfect opportunity to stop by. They where busy and we waited a few minutes for our food but we enjoyed everything we ate. Then when it slowed up a little Shirley was able to come out and talk to us about the shower. I am so happy we decided to go in, Shirley was so gracious and helped aleviate any doubts we had about our party. So we booked it today and I can't wait until March.

We went to the benefit at the Cup and Saucer Saturday, and had the best time. The music and food were top notch. I am amazed at the quality of product we were served for the price. I am on the list for the next event but won't wait until then to go back. Did I say how outstanding the music was.

Have you seen Beacon lately. It's awesome. My friends and me went to Beacon to see there Windows on Main art show and were totally surprised at how bohemian and funky the town has become. I don't live far (Wappingers) but rarely went to Beacon years ago, but I will be going all the time now and to top it off going to the Cup and Saucer was a special treat. The food the teas all of it was great. They where very very busy and we had to wait a while for the food but I can tell you it was worth the wait.

I stopped into the Cup and Saucer while waiting to meet friends. I just wanted a little something. The sweetest server, I think she said her name was Sara, told me the specials which all sounded very good, but I was meeting friends so I wasn't staying for food. Sara also told me the beverage special which was a razzle basil lemonade which was all that I wanted. What an unusual refreshing drink, not sweet and syrupy as you'd expect lemonade to taste, but crisp and aromatic. I love it! Called my friends and told them to meet me at the tea room where we all enjoyed the razzle basil lemonade before heading to the Dia museum.

On a HOT day after being in the scorching sun, what a relief it was to go to this charming little tea room. The iced tea was cool, refreshing and very tasty, also very good food. A nice place to relax on a hot day or anytime.

Came to Beacon and stayed at the Swann Inn B+B. Beautiful place, the owner reccommended the Cup and Saucer as a great place to have lunch (or tea). So we stopped before our hike up Mount Beacon.
Evrything was fantastic from the food to the service. I also highly recommend this place.

Tried out the tea room this afternoon for the first time, I found a coupon on Facebook for free dessert with a frend because it was National Best Frend Day. I had a wonderful lemon berry cake and my frend had the strawberry crepe. We already decided were going back next week with a couple of other frends for tea.

I completely agree with the other reviewers. I was hoping that the tea room was as good as the reviews led me to believe. I have been to a couple of places I'd seen on this site and I wasn't totally dissapointed but I wasn't quite as enthusiastic as some of the other reviewers. I definately was not the slightest bit dissapointed with this lovely tea room. Every thing from the teas, food and service was wonderful. I too will be going back regularly.
