We recently discovered Daffodil Vintage on Main and three of us enjoyed the Full Afternoon Tea which includes soup, scones, savories and sweets. We drove from Williamsburg to Gloucester on a Saturday afternoon. We called in advance to make our reservations which are required for afternoon tea.. I might add how important this is for the guests as well as the tearoom.. That assures you that a table will be available when you arrive.

We entered and were warmly greeted and led to our table. The tearoom is beautifully decorated in a Victorian decor. Each table had been carefully set with lovely china and glassware to reflect the table linens colors. Our table was soft green, with green floral china and table linens to match. Our young server came quickly to remove our china and it caught us by surprise. We found out why later, when our food came to us on this very china. It was different, but nice. We were given a tea menu to select our individual teas. The tea selection includes blacks, greens, flavored and herbals. Two soups were offered, the choices were a Tomato or Corn Chowder. We all selected the Corn Chowder.

Each individual tea pots were brought out with cozies to keep it hot. The tea was perfectly prepared and my oolong was very good. The scones came next and were warm and tender not dry like many are. Very good. Three spreads were offered. I did miss the clotted cream. Also on the scone plate was a very pretty edible daffodil made out of a pineapple slice. Our soup and savories came next. The soup was served hot and very good. The savories included chicken salad, a ham sandwich and veggie sticks displayed in a hollowed out piece of french bread which had a dip for the veggies. Clever idea and different. The sweets included gingerbread, red velvet cake, a petite lemon tartlet and a parfait.

While we were enjoying our tea the owner and her Mother came to our table and we had a lovely conversation with them.

To conclude Daffodil Vintage is a lovely way to enjoy tea. There are a variety of styles of Teas to choose from. They also offer lunch each day. Our service was excellent and you need to plan to spend time enjoying the experience. A good Tea takes time to prepare and tells me it will be fresh. If you are in a hurry choose another day to go. There is a nice selection of gifts and take time to enjoy the many displays and collections through out the shop. I purchased a lovely daffodil story book written and autographed by a local author. I also suggest going to their lovely website for more information and directions. Thank You for a lovely afternoon of Tea.
