Variety: Miss Bonnie's enthusiasm for tea was evident when my group of 6 visited her for tea the first week in October. An added bonus to our delightful experience was Miss Bonnie's knowledge of her tea accroutrements. She served us using fine china hand-painted by her great-grandmother. Every tea accessory had a story and Miss Bonnie was eager to share. We were served a berry tea by Harney & Sons and Ginger Peach by Bentley. Both teas were contained in tea bags. The Ginger Peach was my favorite and normally, I don't like ginger, but 2 lumps of sugar really brought out the flavor and even softened it to make it very enjoyable for me to sip. My group was not hungry, but Miss Bonnie gave each of us a tasty sweet treat to enjoy nibbling while sipping our tea. We thoroughly enjoyed Miss Bonnie'... (more) |

Variety: I have visited here several times over the last few years and I must say it is the best tea room by far in the area. The owner goes out of her way to prepare everything fresh with flowers, etc. The best scones and cream, melt in your mouth. I had my bridal tea here and it will always be remembered as a very special day! Just a tea-riffic place to come and take in the wonderful historic home while relaxing your day away. |

Variety: What a rare find in Elizabeth City. This gal sure knows how to serve the finest teas and elegant food in a beautiful historic house. Even with the heat of the summer we had the best time and were certainly stuffed when we left. The hostess really pours her heart and soul into her business. Thanks and we will be back when we visit again! |

Variety: I thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing formal tea as a pleasant break from the hectic pre-wedding preparations. My most memorable bite was the mouth watering truffles, but all the tea, sandwiches and pastries were divine. I was most thrilled with the easy charm of our hostess which included receipes! An elegant sufficiency. I will definitely recommend it to all my friends. |

Variety: What a wonderful surprise to have all of this history and elegance right under my nose. I grew up in this town and never knew the history of this beautiful home until I was invited to tea by my friends. The food was out of this world and the tea was wonderful. I never expected the tour of the entire home and I loved it. I hope to go back soon. What a special treat. |

Variety:
The tour of Elizabeth City under the guidance of Bonnie Hanbury-Calliotte was a treat indeed. Her knowledge and perspective coupled with a keen sense of time made for a most interesting experience. The Tea Room in her wonderfully restored vintage home was every thing one could hope for with excellent food in a delightful setting. Don't miss this tour. |

Variety:
While visiting Elizabeth City last week, I got a chance to participate in Bonnie's kitchen with the preparation of making homemade scones:) The secret to making them is quick, while adding pieces of cold real butter. At the end we added white chocolate pieces and blueberries. (Yummy) |

Variety: The first time I went to this tea house I took my family that came in from Miami Florida. Needless to say they pretty much have seen it all. So I wanted to take them somewhere different and a co-worker suggested I take them to the De' tour house in Elizabeth city. Setting up the appointment was very easy and the price was very affordable. I was not sure what to expect, but to my surprise the hostess was very engaging, well informed and extremely attentive. Every thing was done very tastefully. We had such a wonderful experience that I have made this tea house one of my own personal favorite places to go to here in Elizabeth city. I also booked a tea for the ladies in church and we had the best time taking photos and trying on hats. The hostess was delightful, the food gave a sense of Europ... (more) |

Variety: Bonnie is a wonderful hostess. We called her at the last minute to see if she could provide a tea for a friend's surprise birthday. It was wonderful! She gave us a tour of the house and her knowledge of antiques and history is amazing. The food was especially good and served on her family's hand painted china. I would highly recommend this tearoom. |
