Fantastic, what an experience, I have had tea at most of the Tea establishments shown on Tea Map in the greater Hampton Roads area and this place stands alone, it's no wonder they were voted one of the top ten tearooms in the US. This place is exceptional. On arrival our names were on a welcome sign outside, from the minute we entered we were warmly welcomed and treated like royalty. We were introduced to teas we would never dream of having. Our scones were light, and the devonshire cream to die for. The food is exceptionally fresh with beautiful presentation including fresh flowers. The service is professional and friendly and decorated beautifully for the holidays, you can tell the owner loves doing what she does. This is a first class act which other Tea Houses don't even come close to, you arrive as customers and leave as friends, a rare gift in today's world. Make reservations as she can get busy! Thank you De'Tours for an absolutely delightful afternoon spent in your little slice of heaven.

Wonderful day spent here in a quaint coastal town. This tea room was beautiful from the antiques to the china. Food was superb, scones melted in your mouth. Everything made from scratch. The history of the home and town was exceptional. What a special day we had here at DeTours. Thanks Bonnie for everything!

One word description 'OUTSTANDING', this tearoom is by far the most relaxing and true to any I have been. A different twist with the tour and eating in the oldest brick house in town surrouonded by beautiful antiques and decor. The food is to die for. Ask for the chocolate truffles:) when you book a tea. We enjoyed that it was our day and loved our hostess.
Will be back for a repeat visit, such a quaint town.

We had a marvelous time here enjoying our tea-time. The homemade scones and tarts were out of this world. We had several different types of teas to try, all wonderful tasting and hot! Especially liked the truffles, if you like chocolate ask for these:)
Thanks for everything, we enjoyed our day from the hectic life in Hampton Roads.

What a perfect afternoon. From all the details, with fresh flowers to delicate china to the lush gardens and the tour of the city..all add up to make a real deal. The best part is Bonnie, the owner, who makes you feel like a personal guest in her home, she's warm and lovely and engages you in conversation about Victorian tea life and her city which is so much fun. A fabulous experience from beginning to end.

Bonnie is one of a kind. The enthusiasm for what she does is so obvious, it draws you into the past not only with the history of the city, but a true Victorian tea, which is an art that is almost forgotten. We have been several times and I must say each time is a new experience---A must do if you want to experience life in the 19th century.

A little bit of heaven we found here. Felt like coming home with a big welcome! Everything was delicious, just as a afternoon tea should be. So soothing with the music playing in the background and the aroma of all the unique fares was perfect. Thanks for making our tea and tour a rememberance always.

Well organized, pleasant, slow paced tour with excellent presentation. It is well fitting and reminescent of slower paced dys of the Old South, as well as the genteel atmosphere and environment of the teatime.

This was my first formal tea so was uncertain what to expect...what a pleasant surprise! The lovely Miz Billie Greene and I were warmly greeted by our hostess who welcomed us into her comfortable, antique-filled home as if we were family stopping by to visit. The atmosphere was inviting and authentic, the food was visually appealing, delicious and served with a quite good tasting tea (would like to try more than one flavor but that may be so we make a return trip:)
It was a beautiful day and Bonnie was a fun, knowledgeable tour guide as she showed us a bit of the charm and history of Elizabeth City.
Thank you for a great experience that I highly recommend!

When my family visited us in August 2009, I wanted to treat them to something special that would give them a little flavor of the history of Elizabeth City. I saw De'Tours online and decided to give it a try. Being new to the Hertford, NC area, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was hopeful it would be a pleasant experience for all the different age groups--teens through senior citizens. When Bonnie greeted us, she made us feel like we were long-time friends stopping by for a visit. As you walk into her home, you feel as if you are transformed back in time. Stepping into the dining room, you will be impressed by the beautifully-set table--many of the pieces inherited from Bonnie's family. Once seated and given a little history, the goodies arrive on beautifully- displayed trays. All ar... (more)
