Variety: Gooseberries is a very cute pink-and-ruffles place for tea. We had the full three course tea and were impressed with the variety and quality of the sandwiches (date and walnut butter and tomato with homemade raspberry vinaigrette were faves) and scones (real Devonshire cream and lemon curd!) and the desserts were nice too. The service was extremely friendly and personable. Overall, we felt this was an excellent high tea experience presented with care and pride. |

Variety: So very happy my friend Dannie found this wonderful place. The experience was above what I expected, the tea party made you feel so special. Even the water was soooo special that I had to take home the tea and receipe for home. Will go back to this special place whenever I need a time out from crazy schedule. Looking forward to Nov. 27th special noon tea with entertainment. Love it. |

Variety: My Sister and I visited The Gooseberries tea room whilst on holiday in Arizona.Unfortuately we did not discover it until our last day in Arizona otherwise we would have been daily visitors. The Ambience is really quaint and reminds us both of Home which is England. the service was cheerful and prompt. and the food was very good. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would recommend to anyone who would like a touch of an English Home. Overall an excellent experience and look forward to repeating the exoerience on our next trip to Arizona. A BIG THUMBS UP.mY SISTER D.Exton will be sending her own review when she returns to England. |

Variety: Today my husband and I went to Gooseberries for lunch which was excellent. I have been to Afternoon Tea a few times and have always found it most delightful. The ambiance is quite lovely and relaxing but not so 'foo-foo' that my husband would not enjoy it. Our lunch was delicious and I enjoyed the house-blend iced tea (I normally have a pot of hot tea but today was 106 degrees so I opted for the iced tea which was quite yummy!). I always enjoy a tour around the shop for browsing all the goodies on display for sale! A wonderful and relaxing afternoon! |

Variety: My first visit to Gooseberries was with my daughter-in-law and two grandaughters, ages 5 and 9. It was a nice place to go in the heat of the summer. It was quiet and rather slow the day we went, but the service and food were excellent. The children split an adult-fare tea and it was very satisfactory. Our server Pam was efficient and gracious. My 5 year old grandaughter spotted the perfect lamp for her bedroom - very 'girlie.' We all agreed that it was a very pleasant experience. Joan |

Variety: Fathers Day 2009 - a special day, one of choices. For a man these choices usually revolve around food. I can barbeque a good steak and with the trimmings and have a first class meal. However, for my special Father’s Day meal this year, I wanted to do something different. I also know that for my wife and daughter, going to a steak house for a big slab of meat would be about as exciting as going with me to an Ace Hardware store. I decided to go to Gooseberries, a local tea room, and also one of their favorite places to eat. I went with a purpose. They have a great chicken & fruit pasta salad, with crunchy noodles and a thick creamy yogurt dressing. Plus fresh rolls. It’s a meal a man can relate to and enjoy. By making a choice to eat at Gooseberries, I let my daughter and wife know that a part of my special day is sharing time together and surprising them! |

Variety: My sister, daughter, and myself were celebrating our mother/grandmother's memory as she died last year. She loved tea parties. We were extremely pleased with the whole experience. The tea choices were excellent. We used the house blend and then a chia tea. The whole place was decorated beautifully. We had different plates for each course. We had three courses of food which were tiny sandwiches. We liked the tomato ones the best because of the great house dressing on them. The scones were the second course and they were outstanding. The lemon curd and the clotted cream were so good. The last course was dessert and there were three desserts and all were good. |

Variety: This review is in regards to the comment made by Marge S. on 5/3/09. I'm an employee at Gooseberries and I happen to work the front desk. I've never heard Debbie talking in a demeaning way to any of her employees. That's not how she is. She likes to kid around sometimes, but nothing more than that. I know she cares for us as well as for our customers. I do hope you can visit the tearoom again and get to know Debbie, as she's a wonderful, caring person. |

Variety: I’m a server at Gooseberries and I was quite surprised at your review. I know that occasionally things do not go as well as we might wish and I’m sure the owner, Debbie, will attempt to address your concerns. My response is prompted more by your remarks regarding the work environment. I can not imagine who you overheard at the front desk but in the nearly three years I’ve worked there, Debbie has rarely voiced criticism that was deserved much less said anything demeaning. That is simply not who she is. As far as your other ratings, our chef Tracy is talented and has exceptional food presentation. Our Gooseberries house tea is excellent and we also have a tea list that provides a variety of choices (over 33) from black, Darjeeling, green, herbal, oolong, white and rooibus teas which can be individually prepared to your liking. I hope you will come again as the experience you describe was not typical. Deb, the server |

Variety: I had tea the other day at Gooseberries, honestly the tea selection is very poor. I feel like I would have had better tea if I had gone to a coffee shop and boughten a bag there. The owner was at the front desk and I heard her talking very demeaningly to her employees, if this is how she expects to keep her employees happy, it shows that she simply doesn't care for her customers either! |

Variety: I love Gooseberries and have been going there for years. Debbie and Doug have, however, found just the right combination of atmosphere,a classic English Afternoon Tea and a very talented chef. Be sure to try the date sandwiches--different, interesting and delicious. What a pleasant surprise! My friends and I go to Afternoon Tea quite often. This was the first time since Debbie and Doug took over, though, and we rank it right up at the top of our list. Thanks for a terrific afternoon!! We will definitely be back. |

Variety: I love Gooseberries! I grew up going there as a treat with my mother. We always saw it as a special place to 'get away' in the middle of the city :) I loved it so much I had my bridal luncheon there the day before my wedding. All of the ladies, including out-of-towners enjoyed it and thought of it as a 'secret place'. A couple weeks ago, some girlfriends and I went there for a birthday lunch and again, had a wonderful experience wondering why we hadn't visited in so long! Thanks for the memories so far; and my loved ones and I will continue to share them there.. and pass the word on! God bless. |

Variety: I would highly recommend this teahouse. The food was meticulously prepared, quality and fresh ingredients were used. The bread pudding was one of the best we've tried. The breast of chicken placed on the salad appeared to be prepared by a 'slow-poach' infusion method that left the strips full of moisture and flavor. |

Variety: I took my 4 year old daughter here for her birthday tea party. Her 8 year old brother even loved the food and tea. The tea sandwiches are so yummy, especially the rasberry vinegrete marinated tomato on pumpernikel bread. Oh my word the scones were the highlight of the tea service. The cinamon scone with very finely crushed almonds was so scrumptious. The plain scone was also excellent. The atmosphere is so cute and pretty. Make your reservation today you will not de dissapointed. |

Variety: Gooseberries will give you goosebumps!!! I have been a loyal customer for the past 15 years. It is a delightful Victorian decorated tearoom/boutique that offers a variety of unique gifts and tea and food choices. The menu has many items to choose from including their famous bread pudding! The owners & servers are personable and make you feel like you are eating a meal right at home with a family member. You have GOT to check this place out!! Variety: The atmosphere is fun, the employees are kind, and the food is very good. (I recommend the signature salad.) I love the rose water. The hot tea is my favorite - and we can get it decaf! I have taken my mom, 3-year old niece, and out of town company - they all loved it. |

Variety: My husband took me to Gooseberries for our anniversary brunch. It was a lovely experience; the setting was cozy and charming, the omelet was delicious, and the service was just right. I don't know enough about tea to accurately rate the variety offered, but I can say we both enjoyed a perfect pot of Earl Grey. |

Variety: I cannot say enough good things about Gooseberries! I recently had a baby shower for a dear friend there. I live out of town so I never even saw Gooseberries until I walked in the door. I was just delighted. The food was delicious (the lemon curd is to die for) and décor is delightful. The service was way above and beyond, every detail was perfect. They tables were set up in a way that we were able to feel like a group, but not crowded. Several guests said that this was the best baby shower that they had ever been to. It was the easiest shower that I have ever given. I was even able to relax and enjoy the guest. I will definitely be back! |
