Variety: A friend and I ventured down to Prince George to the Gourmet Briar Patch Tea Room. We were not sure what to expect but imagine our surprise when we entered the tea room and felt as if we had gone back in time, It was such a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We were welcomed as if we were friends, not customers. The tea was outstanding and the food was awesome. The friendly atmosphere with other customers was wonderful and we really felt a part of the community. IF you want a wonderful afternoon or lunch, away from the a rushed lifestyle, take a trip to Prince George VA and have tea at the Gourmet Briar Patch. You will be glad you did.And don't forget to visit the gift area. It was also a very pleasant experience. |

Variety: My favorite tearoom. I can't get there often enough. The food is delicious. Our last visit we had scrumptious miniature roast beef on home made bread, pimento cheese with pecan, cucumber sandwiches, cinnamon scones, egg salad with a variety of desserts. It was wonderful. My friends will come back as often as we can. |

Add curry, cinnamon and cook 1 minute stirring constantly. Stir in sweet potatoes, broth thyme, bay leaves and salt and pepper. Increase your heat till it comes to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer 25 minutes..I remove the bay leaves and use my stick blender to puree. I then add the half and half and raisins. Serve with a dollop of plain yogurt and peanuts. |

Variety: On the spur of the moment today, I decided to visit Ron and Ginger at the Gourmet Briar Patch Tea Room and to have lunch. As many times as I have enjoyed their mid-day tea lunch over the years, Ginger always seems to come up with something new, different and delicious. I am never disappointed in her food selections and culinary skills. Along with the mid-day lunch plate, I had the pumpkin spice tea which was wonderful and very appropriate for a cool fall day like today. For a sweet ending, the three layer tipsy custard cake was scrumptious! I’m already looking forward to my next lunch date when I will bring my friend from Newport News to have lunch here at the tea room. |

Variety: Recently visited Ron & Ginger Moyer for Mid-day tea and it was like a 'Homecoming'. I'd forgotten how plentiful the portions are and how much better homemade tastes vs 'bought & presented'. The tea Ron served was splendid and the food items were culinary delights! The scones were tasty, moist...freshly baked. The Moyers are able to keep a very competitive price by making their food items from scratch. Good taste, good price and good company! |

Glad you enjoyed your tea. Happy to share:Irish Tea Bread 2 1/2 cups of currants, or golden raisins. 1 c dark brown sugar, and 1 c of strong tea ( I use the Rongit). Soak these 3 overnight. Add until mixed 2 cups of flour, 1 tsp b soda, 3 tsp of baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1 beaten egg (large). Pour into a well greased loaf pan or 4 mini pans. Bake at 350 for 30 min and check for doneness. Size of pans dictates this. Should take no more than 1 1/2 hours. If pans dark, reduce heat 25 degrees. Pots of Blessings |

Variety: I have been to the tearoom twice in the last week. The first just because we enjoy the atmosphere and friendliness of Ginger and Ron the second time was to introduce my out of town niece to the pleasure of eating there. The cold soup and freshly made peach ice cream were out of this world and, of course, the rest of the meal was delicious. My niece had not been to a tearoom before so the experience was new and very refreshing too her. She wants to go again next visit. |
