Come relax and reflect as this 1899 French Chateauesque historical building lends itself to the past, present and future of those who visit. Located in the downtown historical district, within walking distance of Albemarle Museum, Encore Theater and several historical bed and breakfast establishments.

Menu consists of a variety of tea sandwiches, a specialty each day which could be seafood salad, chicken salad, New England Clam Chowder, other soups, salad, a variety of scones, and dessert. We carry a variety of loose teas, a variety of special teas and just good old Southern sweet tea for your choosing.
We can help you with your special event, book club meeting, bridal luncheon, showers, receptions or even a small wedding and reception. Menu can be adjusted to accommodate your event. Reservations requested for special events.
We offer 4 tea rooms for your convenience; the Alma Room seats 12, the Jeanette Room seats 12, the Harbour Room and the Loft tea room each seat eight.

Food: Today was my esecond visit to your tea room. I shared an enjoyable visit with my mother and my teenage daughter. The soup, salad, dessert, fruit, cheese,and specialty sandwiches were great, but the tea and scones were best of all. Thanks for an elegant experience that I could share with two very important people in my life. Also thanks for providing some place nice to eat on Saturday in Elizabeth City as well as incorporating your dining experience into a piece of architectural history. |

The iced coconut tea was delicious and refreshing; ALL the food was simply scrumptious; our waitress, Cotrisha, was attentive and helpful and talking with you, the hostess, was delightful. Food: How wonderful to have this tea house nestled in our historical downtown area! As I entered the front door it was as though I had stepped into another place and time. The individual rooms, the decor, and the lighting were all conducive to making this a wonderful experience. You become ensconced in this atmosphere and leave the busy outside world behind for awhile. The menu includes options to suit absolutely any appetite. Quite impressive was the presentation of each course and the taste of each selection was beyond reproach! The atmosphere is soothing and relaxing and you are welcome to stay and enjoy as long as you like. The variety of teas is excellent. Coconut Pouchong is definitely my favorite so far. The food is prepared fresh by the owner and wonderfully tasty. The gift shoppe has many unique items. Food: While visiting my mother she took me and my 11 yr old son to the Harbour Tea House for lunch. The blueberry scones were absolutely delicious. Dessert was butterscotch pudding in a pastry cup. All I can say is I had forgotten how delicious real butterscotch taste. I loved the ham sandwiches on fresh crousants. And the servers were very knowlegable and friendly; especially Sarah. My son even enjoyed the experience saying it was 'fancy'. Coming from Philadelphia I have visited many tea houses and Harbour Tea House is at the top of my list. I will be back at every visit to my mother. Thank you for an enjoyable relaxing 2 hours. |

Food: I have visited the Harbor Tea House twice and both times were delightful. The visit on Valentines Day was especially memorable. I was there with my husband and ninety-seven year old dear friend, who is not shy about expressing her opinion about anything. She said the visit was lovely, but the soup was a not hot enough. My husband and I were not as discriminating, and we had a thoroughly delightful visit. (The rose was a nice touch). WE enjoyed the tea, lunch and the conversation. Service was excellent. What a grand addition to Elizabeth City. |

Food: My friends and I were there for lunch opening day and we enjoyed it so very much. The tea was hot, the food excellent and the service superb. I make a visit at least once a week and always bring a new person with me. I love the fact that it is not 'by reservation only' as is with other tea houses in the area. It's nice to sit back and savour it all in a leisurely fashion. For those special occassion lunches or just sitting back relaxing with a pot of tea this is just what what Elizabeth City needed. I am sorry that you and your TEA Friends got caught up in the middle of a most unfortunate happning; a group of over 15 people without reservations just prior to your visit. It's difficult in a TEA house to steep tea for that many people and wait on other tables. We are not a quick luncheon place of business, but rather a TEA house of quiet and relaxation none of which you had the opportunity to experience. It has been suggested that I operate by reservations only, but to do that would exclude a lot of people who can't make reservations because of work travel outside of the City,etc. Sorry this wasn't what you expected. Food: Staff was not knowledgable about tea. Food was minimal and we left hungry. THE TEA WAS COLD!!!! WHY? THIS IS WHAT THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO AT A TEA ROOM! Owner was boringly boastful. The gift shop was sparse. Ambiance was pleasant enough. I am hopeful; that this tea room will improve as it becomes more established. |

Food: I had reservations at the Harbour TEA & Gift Shoppe for my mother's 60th birthday party last night for 13, consisting of family and friends. The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all! The hospitality, relaxed atmosphere, service, presentation and food was impeccable! What a wonderful place to share conversation, quality time and fellowship with friends and family! We ordered 3 different pots of tea, Coconut Pouchong, Asian Plum and Chai,and shared among us. We truly had a tea birthday party! An array of tea fares which include scones, fruit, muffins, dessert of the day, soup, salad, etc. are offered. The turkey/han croissant with herb cheese spread is absolutely divine. Food: I love the atmosphere! It is very relaxing and before I knew it, we had been there for an hour and a half! It was a perfect stop for a girls' afternoon. Your tea house has a terrific variety of different teas and the food is fabulous! Our waitress was in training but she did a fantastic job the entire time and kept a smile! I have shared with everyone I know the experience I had and I plan to visit again very soon! |

Food: Last evening we spent a few hours experiencing the warm hospitality and the gracious ambiance of the Harbour Tea House.The tea, scones, sandwiches, cake, and soup were all delicious and presented beautifully. All of the rooms were charming and well appointed. Cotricia and Tommy were charming hosts and Sarah, our server, was delightful. The Harbor Tea House offered us a reprieve from the hetic pace of yesterday's events. We plan on making the Harbour Tea House our special local 'date' destination (we've been married for 33+ years). Food: This was my first time visiting Harbour Tea House and I had a delightful time! I met with my friend who had been quite a few times and has become a bit of a regular. I tried the Coconut Pouchong and fell in love with that tea. It will be difficult for me to go back and try the other teas. I think I should have tried a lesser tea first. The food was dainty and delectable-appropriate with tea. I had been to a few Japanese tea houses so I didn't really know what to expect. I enjoyed the atmosphere because it was calm and quiet. Tea is not something to be rushed so don't be in a hurry to get out of there. It's a great meeting place to catch up with friends or just enjoy a wonderful cup of tea. |

Food: I was visting Elizabeth City to visit family, and was taking to the tea room as a special treat. The history behind the building was very interesting,the conversation with the owner Catrisha was priceles.I could have sat and listened to her all day. Sarah was just as sweet as the owner,a great little server warm and sweet . I had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying myself. The beauty of the tearoom along with the best tea choices I've ever had. The food was awesome warm fresh scones with cotted cream, fresh fruit with assorted cheese were lovely. Food: Was in town and went to this tea shop/room. The tea was not very warm and the sandwiches we not what I had expected. Cream cheese on cocktail bread. Not as authentic as I had expected. However the taste was good. Scones need a little help, oversized cookies for our group. This shop was decorated nicely, but the food needs some help as the service was slow. Hope they have good luck in the future. |
