Hidden Chateau and Gardens

buyer beware? my fiance and i are extremely saddened and disappointed over our experience with the hidden chateau, and never in a million years could we, in good conscience be able to recommend them. we met with jill, very excited about having our wedding there. we specifically discussed the fact the we had a budget that we needed to stick to and jill assured us that it would not be a problem. regardless, she led us in direction that was much more expensive than we discussed. she even wanted to charge us to rent extra toilets because her venue's bathroom situation couldn't accommadate 75 guests comfortably. when we got the proposal back it was thousands of dollars beyond our budget, we told her that unfortunately, we couldn't afford it. we felt she should have guided us and made sure that... (more) this would be doable before taking a $1200 'non-refundable' deposit. after speaking with her about our dilemma, she agreed to give us back $850. 2 weeks went by without hearing from her or receiving anything. she didn't return several calls we made to her so finally we had to try to speak with her face to face. she told us she'd changed her mind. she said she was 'advised' not to return any portion of the deposit. we tried to give her every opportunity to do right and told her we'd appreciate her kindness and ultimately use her facility some other time. she still refused. she had no other wedding scheduled that day and it was 7 months in advance so there was no hardship to her or her business. she just wanted to keep the money. jill mulligan is unethical and misleading with her business practices. she'll pretend to be very kind at first, but watch out for her. she is ruthless and heartless when it comes to money. the place is nice, but she is not. buy at your own risk. we are taking her to small claims. if you want your wedding to be a positive experience, we recommend trying elsewhere.
