Variety:     Artistry:     Service:     Food: I agree with all the recent reviews, this is a fantastic tea house. Sophisticated, superbly elegant yet comfortable. The food presentation is superb and it taste as good as it looks. We just love the beautiful fresh flowers on every plate, orchids, roses, it's always beautiful. Scones are the best we have ever had and right out of the oven too! Well appointed with exquisite fine china, crystal and silver accessories. Fine selection of loose leaf teas, you are made to feel like an old friend coming to visit. If you want a true High Tea experience this is where to go. One of the best Tea Houses in Southern Cal. Should have a much higher rating here, we have visited the top 5 and the High Tea Cottage should be up there too. Make reservations.

Variety:     Artistry:     Service:     Food: We have been to the High Tea Cottage three times. The owners are very nice and incredibly well educated about tea. The husband makes his rounds to each table to greet his patrons and chit chat about tea, and the wife will sometimes bring out a canister of tea for everyone to smell. That is super rare and definitely appreciated. The tea selection and food are great, and they have the best tasting jams for scones. The atmosphere is very home-like and warm. We will definitely return.

I would recommend the Royal Ascot Tea, which gives more sandwiches, scones and pastries than you can eat. The lavender lemonade and the kama sutra tea were divine! The owner, Jen, was a delight: funny, accommodating and very generous. We look forward to returning. Terri, our waitress, was also lovely. The setting is intimate and beautiful. It feels like you're worlds away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles.

Variety:     Artistry:     Service:     Food: This was my 1st visit to this tea room and my friends 3rd, she took me here today for my birthday. The experience was fantastic. From the minute we walked in the front door we were greeted like old friends. The interior is charming just like entering a private home. The color scheme is very relaxing yet elegant with tapastry, on the walls, fresh flowers on the tables. They have loose leaf tea and we were able to smell our selections before we made our choice. The tea sandwiches were very fresh, the chicken is the best I have ever tasted and my friend loved the curried egg. The scones were just out of the oven and so yummy, the sweet morsals more than we could eat so we took a 'doggy bag' which we enjoyed after dinner tonight. Variety:     Artistry:     Service:     Food: This was my third time to this tea room. We were waited on personally by the owner. She spent lots of time with us, letting us smell different teas. If we were not happy with our choice, we would have been able to have a different one. We had the Royal tea which is traditionally English. There is also a French tea and an Australian tea. The atmosphere is cozy cottage, just how I envision a tea room should be. The food has been consistently good each time I have eaten here.

Variety:     Artistry:     Service:     Food: My girlfriends and I came to the teahouse as a final celebratation of our 30th High School Reunion after seeing it listed on TeaMap. I have been to many tearooms in the area but had not been to this one. The teahouse was beautiful as each table was adorned with fresh flowers and beautiful china. The owners were delightful and the stories of the tea sets and british history was fascinating. By the end of the afternoon, we were completely charmed by the owners. We felt like royalty with our Royal High Tea. I plan to return as often as I can with my family and friends. Oh, did I mention the food and tea? Delicious! This teahouse is a must to visit.

However, outstanding tearooms are hard to find in the area we visit for business, but this one was extremely delightful and stood out miles apart from the rest! We found out about it from teamap when we searched for the zipcode we were going to be in. The pictures on teamap were beautiful, and when we arrived, it was even more so! The tables were set so perfectly with pastel napkins and crisp white tablecloths. Jenn, the owner, uses beautiful matching antique bone china (which are all in excellent condition) to serve her guests. The flowers are fresh and coordinate so perfectly with the table schemes. I can tell she is an artist and has a flare for color and arrangements - her tearoom is beautifully appointed, plus her presentation of the food is just as luscious with fresh garnish such as orchids and freshly minced parsley against bright, red, juicey tomatoes. We were first greeted by her charming husband, Ken. He is so very interesting and extremely attentive. The sandwiches were fresh and delicious and the teas she offered were soothing and had excellent flavors. We had a lovely chat with these two beautiful and gracious hosts after our service. We couldn't of asked for a lovelier tea time after a long ride to Glendale and hectic business appointments. Ken and Jenn made us feel relaxed and pampered. We sure hope to do the same for them when they come down to visit us in our tearoom in Coronado. They need the pampering real soon! We thank you for a lovely afternoon in your gorgeous tearoom! Variety:     Artistry:     Service:     Food: It was my first visit and we were greeted warmly. I encourage everyone to try the lavender lemonade, it was delicious. I had an organic Assam tea served in 150 year old china! The collection of china is pretty amazing there. The food was excellent and every plate was adorned with fresh flowers. We had plenty of food and I really like the ginger tea cake. I will definitely be back, it also looks like they have a nice size private room to hold parties in.

Variety:     Artistry:     Service:     Food: I had a wonderful experience at this tea establishment with a group of girlfriends. We were greeted immediately and seated promptly. The interior is very well decorated and everything is clean and tidy, including the restroom. Service was very attentive and the tea was excellent. When we had questions, our server, and the owner, was more than happy to go get the various teas in question and have us smell them and explained the differences, which I found most helpful. All the food was excellent. You just have to try the lavender lemonade. It is just fantastic! The scones and homemade jams were wonderful. The portions are also extremely generous. We all had the Royal Tea. We were not rushed at all and actually spent several hours working through all the tea and courses. It was a very pleasant afternoon and we have already made plans to return again! I would highly recommend this place to my friends and family.

I can't wait to bring my sister who said 'I've been doing this for years so glad you have caught up. The tea sandwiches especially the one with the berry and nut. I could eat more than just one. I fell in love with the Belgium chocolate flavor. Who doesn't like chocolate. Add chocolate mousse, cake, tarts, and fruit!!!! I went to heaven with chocolate on my cheek. The staff most informing about tea and created a great atmosphere. I shall return with family and friends very soon.

My friends and I go all over the place trying different tea houses and this is one of the better ones. Lex was our server and she was knowledgable, helpful and friendly. The pace of the tea was just perfect. I've lived in the area for years and never noticed this spot - I think the outside needs a bit freshening up, but the inside is clean and charming. Will defiinitely return here again and again!

Variety:     Artistry:     Service:     Food: My sister and I have been to this tea room 4 times now, Firstly we were invited to a baby shower there and were so impressed with both the service and the food we decided to come back on our own. Each time it is excellent. You get a lot of food, endless tea and if you don't like your choice they give you another for no charge. The decor is very elegant and we had fresh flowers on the tables and all the courses. Service from the staff is always attentive and the owner very charming. We took our 86 year old Mom for Mother's Day and it was perfect. They really did it right and the guitarist played favorite songs for Mom. There is a charming garden patio and we love the Salon. Highly recommend the High Tea Cottage, it's better than the Ritz Carlton in Pasadena and local.

Although the exterior made me a bit hesitant, I was pleasantly surprised by the warm and cozy interior. The owner was not that friendly and welcoming. The tearoom is a converted house, and I felt that we were 'intruding' because of her attitude. They have a nice selection of tea, and the food was plentiful (we had the royal tea). But, the experience that stayed with me the most was the poor and puzzling service. Our server kept asking if we were done with our course or if we wanted her to pack up the remaining food so we can move to the next course. It did not seem appropriate to rush customers at a tearoom. She also took our teapots to refill them or heat them, and forgot to bring it ba... (more)ck for my friend. The oddest thing was, between courses, she brought out a not so discreet handheld broom with a small dustpan, and began sweeping our table. I understand this is done in fine restaurants, but normally it's done with a little popsicle stick, and done discreetly. Finally, when the dessert tray came out, she offered us no silverware or extra plates. We asked, but were told that they were just bite sized desserts. I felt uncomfortable popping these desserts in my mouth without any plate or fork! I wish I had a better experience so that I could say I found a lovely neighborhood tea room.

Variety:     Artistry:     Service:     Food: I have been here time after time and I cannot get enough!! They serve the tea (if you order the Royal Service) on 150 year old bone china. Very relaxing and wonderful place, you forget the world outside. The food is made as you order it, NEVER refrigirated, so everything tastes amazing. It is an honor to have Jenn, the owner in this location, and it is an honor to be in her presence. This woman knows tea. Try the Buckingham Palace blend, with milk. Lots of different food items on the menu as well, and tons of tea selections. Also, they have china sets and tea gifts for sale. Love them!!

The food was desent but pricey. The staff is ignorant and oblivious. The decor is cute. I'd return but I recommend the Gilded Rose if you are in the valley, it is far superior.

On walking in we were so pleased with the decore, absolutely beautiful, very eurooean. We were greeted by a lovely man who welcomed us and took us to our table. The table setting was beautiful, with English china, silver spoons, linens and beautiful fresh spring flowers. The waitress, Lex came over and explained the menu that is very large, and explained all the different 3, 4 or 7 course tea services and the salads and crepes. The man who greeted us came back and explained all the teas in detail, we found he is a retired Doctor and engaged to the owner. We placed our food order and selected our teas. The finger sandwiches arrived and were perfect, fresh, tasty and even fresh flowers decorated the plates, we also had some of the sandwiches placed on our plate by silver tongs. Next came the scones, just out of the oven which were so yummy, we voted them the best we have ever tasted. They have a jam cart and you get to select what you would like. The sweets came last, oh my, little jam and fruit tarts, dark chocolate cups with fresh strawberries and cream, cream puffs and magnificent lemon tart. We had oodles of food, we all took leftovers home (can you believe leftovers at a Tea house??) The background music is perfect for Tea. No one rushed us, we had unlimited tea and were even invited to taste some of the more unusual teas they carry, we were made to feel we were dining in someone’s home. The owner came out, she is the chef, very charming and made us feel even more welcome, and did I mention, I was given a birthday gift, a beautiful piece of jewelry! Never have we had such a lovely tea experience anywhere. I highly recommend this establishment, don’t be put off by the outside, it’s an absolute gem once you walk in.

We were both very impressed with the tea selection and the food was very delectable. The service was excellent and the owner even gave my mother a birthday gift. Several teas were offered to primarily coffee drinkers and time allowed us to smell each tea. We ended up choosing and exchanging sips and becoming tea toadlers. Each course was beautifully presented garnished with orchids on beautiful china. Don't be put off by its outside appearance...it's quaint, warm, cozy and quiet inside. T

I arrived just before a large party was scheduled to start, so I had the place to myself for 30 minutes. With a view of the garden patio, I was able to take in the cottage's charm. Even when the party attendee's started to arrive, it remained peaceful, since they were in a separate room. I was served by Terry who was friendly and attentive. I wanted to try a bit of everything for my first visit and got both The Royal Tea and a chicken salad sandwich. The chicken salad sandwich was delicious and served with an organic green salad accompanied with raspberry dressy. That would have made a most succulent meal all by itself. Then, came the roy... The curried egg did not appeal to me and I think I would have preferred the ham with another condiment, rather than mustard. I devoured the flavorful mini spinach quiches. Then came the ginger cake. I was expecting your basic ginger bread, but the cake had a soft filling. Served warm and drizzled with cream, it was more like a bread pudding. Scrumptious. I had delectable fruit scones and could smell the cranberry aroma coming long before the scones arrived at my table. Finally, there were petite desserts consisting of chocolate cups and fresh fruits. Everything was carefully and artfully presented, as picturesque as it was flavorful. I cannot wait to return to have the chicken salad again.

My sisters and I took my mother for her birthday.The food was delicious. Our server brought out our food at just the right time, not too fast and not too slow. The tea was reheated if necessary. We spent 2 or so hours but it was a perfect celebration.

The portion of food was good but I've had tastier sandwiches and my tea was ok. The service and atmosphere was a bit off as well. I had a reservation yet was told service was slow because there were so many 'walk-ins'. How does that make sense? I had a reservation! I don't think I will be returning.

From the moment we walked in our senses were overwhelmed. It was raining outside and there was a roaring fire going in the corner fireplace. The smells from the kitchen and the fire made one close their eyes and breathe deeply. The tables were each set differently with exquisite china, beautiful stemware and lovely linens. The music was just loud enough to hear without interfering with conversation...and the selection was just perfect. Our server was wonderful. She was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. We were made to feel that our experience was not to be hurried, but relaxed and leisurely. Half way through our 3 hour lunch, I told my friend that... From our tea selection, Buckingham Palace Garden Party (we bought some to take home), to the beautifully presented and delicious tea sandwiches, yummy quiche, unbelievable scones with jam and sweet treats...everything was a delight. The most scrumptious part of our High Tea, however, was the Ginger Cake, Queen Elizabeth's favorite. It was unbelievable! Variety:     Artistry:     Service:     Food: we were 4 friends for tea today. we usually have a good time getting together for tea. but, today was exceptional. the Buckingham Palace tea was amazing. the food was amazing. we were made to feel as though we had to rush through our meal. but, rather to take our time and savor our food and conversation. very cozy atmosphere. clean, elegant but cozy. like being in a friends home and enjoying each others company. the host was very versed in his tea education and we all learned a few new thing about tea. we all had such a good time there that we did not realize we were there for 3 hours. we will definatly be back for more.

After visiting High Tea Cottage today we agreed that it's one of the best. The service, atmosphere, food and specially the artistry of tea preparation were superb. Variety:     Artistry:     Service:     Food: I organize a Lunch Bunch for Wdl Hills Woman's Club and a member suggested the Tea Cottage. I planned a date and selected the teas and sandwiches. The atmosphere is warm and homey--beautifully set up tables and interesting decor all around. Our reception was top drawer. Service could not have been better. 18 ladies enjoyed themselves sooo much and would recommend this experience for anyone. I especially liked the cream cheese that had cranberries in it. So good.

Variety:     Artistry:     Service:     Food: Worst experience at tea I've ever had. The wait staff is horrible, bad attitudes and unfriendly. The service was slow and lacking. Server lacked knowledge of menu. Food was OK, but not worth it. I was extremely disappointed. I wouldn't recommend this tea room to anyone.

Variety:     Artistry:     Service:     Food: I visited 2 weeks ago - and had made a reservation well in advance. When I arrived, they made me feel as though they had no idea I was coming, and never acknowledged my reservation. I observed several other ladies who arrived and were made wait as well - at least 15 minutes standing at crowded door. They too had a reservation. Humm. After I was sat, the one I thought would be my server passed by me several times and entirely ignored I was there, finally, someone else came 'as a matter of factly', as if no one else wanted or could serve me. DID I MENTION - I HAD A RESERVATION? There was live music, granted, but the room is very crowded and not relaxed at all. I felt crammed and cornered and tea left at table for I to handle. I did not get the personable service I am used to and not sure I will return here. There are a few items here available for sale - teacups, tea, and scone mixes...

Variety:     Artistry:     Service:     Food: My wife and I enjoyed Sunday Brunch at this establishment and we both were very impressed with everything, including the guitarist (his rendition of the Holiday Season music was just fabulous). I chose the crepes, loved the Hollandaise Sauce and the huge organic green salad. My wife went for the healthy choice of the Vegetarian Quiche (made with an egg substitute) which she informed the whole cottage was absolutely marvelous! The menu is small, crepes and volovontes (with a range of choices) and 3 types of fresh baked quiche. We chose scones as our dessert (fresh out of the oven) and they were delicious as well. Unlimited OJ and tea and both found that our portions of food were very large. In summary we had a lovely time with good food, service and music and did I mention the intimate atmosphere? Variety:     Artistry:     Service:     Food: I was very disappointed with the entree menu for the Sunday brunch. We are all urged to follow a healthy life style and although it is not possible at every meal, a restaurant must offer an alternative item instead of slathering either of the only two menu choices with a huge amount of hollandaise sauce. Either a sauce should be optional or served on the side If that is not possible as I was told, that the sauce is already on the dish and cannot be served another way then there should be an additional item that is not loaded with cholesterol on the menu. Many older people unfortunately have restrictions regarding cholesterol and young people are encouraged to watch their intake. The fresh fruit salad was excellent and the desserts good but rich, However, with dessert one can take it or leave it or just sample as much or as little as one wants. That is not possible with the 2 entrees.

Variety:     Artistry:     Service:     Food: Had lunch here and it was excellent, lots of loose leaf teas and we tried 7 and were only charged for 1 pot, service was great, waitress was Terry and the food really fresh, couldn't find any faults. Highly recommend and we will be back again.

Variety:     Artistry:     Service:     Food: The BEST OF THE BEST!!! The food is amazing, the service is impecable. The ambience is phenominal. What a great experience. Don't miss this one. If you're into High Tea like my friends and I, check this place out. Even the Sunday brunch was great. I'm a regular. I won't say who, but saw a few celebs hanging out there as well.

Good food, good service, a lovely atmosphere, I would highly recommend it. Also, the largest variety of meals to chose from that I've ever seen at a tea house - French, English, and even Australian!

Very friendly and attentive staff, a very large menu to choose from and great tea sandwiches. The scones were fresh out of the oven each time we visited. We will be back again and again!!

Variety:     Artistry:     Service:     Food: I have had tea at the cottage twice. Both times the service was excellent and the young women who work there are very genteel and hospitable. The food is wonderful, very fresh and tasty. The decor is lovely, very European, not the usual Victorian theme that is so common in tea rooms. Thank you for bringing such a lovely tea experience to the valley. Phyllis 10-05-07
