Intelligentsia Coffee and Tea Inc. is a very solid coffee and tea shop that provides both a good cup of coffee as well as loose leaf tea options which is always a plus for me. Good place to sit down and enjoy a cup

I've been their big supporter for a long time until a couple of poor service and product experiences turned me off completely.

First, both their tea and coffee quality has gone down. And I don't think it's so much a product issue as more 'lack of care', laziness on behalf of their stuff.

Which brings me to the second point: people are either very unhappy or rather snobby at that establishment. Feels like you have to belong to their clique to be treated like a human being.

Sorry, I will go to Tea and Coffee Exchange for my daily cup of tea from now on.

Despite the overwhelming smell of coffee, one can have a quality cup of loose-leaf tea in this urban spot.

I have been very impressed by Intelligentsia's range of coffees and teas. I was surprised to see that they spend as much attention on the quality of the tea as they do their coffee. I've bought and consumed tea elsewhere, Starbucks, Argo and the only one that came close was TeaGshwender on Halsted.

intelligentsia is one chicago's finest coffee companies. it is also one of the notorious poor service establishments. their original shop on broadway boasts great quality lattes and horrible service with very unhappy and sometimes snobby employees.

Now tea. With the recent tea boom, starbucks and other coffee companies decided to take a bite of the tea market. intelligentsia humbly followed.

while coffee was, is and will be their niche, I would stay away from this place for the same two reasons: one, they are not a tea company. Two, their service ain't there.

My advice for tea in chicago? Teavana, Argo Tea and Ten Ren in chinatown.

Very few tea choices, and not very special. If you are a tea lover, this should not be your destination in Chicago. They really love coffee; enough said.
