Ivy's at Shoppes on Grand

Good food. However, we seemed to be a bother to the two women working. No smiles, no 'thank you' or 'you’re welcome'. The two women didn't go out of their way to make us feel welcome in any way. I first thought it was just my perception and didn't say anything to my daughters that were with me (having a mommy/daughter date). My daughters' (ages 10 & 12) commented as we left Ivy's Tea Room that 'those women seemed grumpy'. When we would say 'thank you' to the waitress for bringing us our food or drinks, there was no response. It was just odd. To boot, I don't think that wearing open-toed flip-flops and having your open can of soda sitting on the work table where you are preparing the meals is within the State Food Code requirements. Both women were wearing flip-flops. It just concerns me to... (more) think that if they aren't following the simple requirements of wearing proper shoes when preparing the food, then what else is going on or not being followed behind the scenes, that the customers don't see? Food was good, but cranky unfriendly wait staff really ruined the cozy feel that we expected when having our date at Ivy's Tea Room.
