We came to Lady Bug today for the first time and it was delightful!! Millie is an excellent cook and we loved all her family recipes!! There are many fun features to this many-coursed tea, and the decor is homey and fun. There is a beautiful patio out back that overlooks her garden and we want to visit there in the spring.
We were delighted to find that Millie blends and bags her own teas and we learned a few new facts about tea blends! All the teas are named for family members.
I think you will find an enjoyable day at Lady Bug!

My friend and I were at the Ladybug Tea Room on October 31, 2009. I have been there many times and it is delightful. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is as well. I keep going back and will continue to do so!

Tea at the Lady Bug was a relaxing, refreshing event. The food was fabulous and the teas extraordinary. When looking at the fine, crafted goods for sale in the store area, I caught a glimpse of my server making tea bags with the hand mixed teas named after the owner's family. What a delight. My wife and I were utterly full after our tea and enjoyed every minute of the experience. Such a great value in a tough economy. We will be telling all of our friends to go to this tea room - even the ones who aren't necessarily 'tea room people!' Way to go! We'll definitely be back!

This was my first visit to a tea room, and I am so glad it was at The Lady Bug.It smelled wonderful as soon as my best friend Pattie and I walked in the door. All the food as well as the tea was delicious. And Miss Millie was delightful.Even the music playing made me feel relaxed. I will definitely be back. AWESOME!!!!!!

I was appalled to read the negative critique below and also feel this person was mixing it up with another tea room. I have been there twice and the teas are original--not from regular tea bags you buy in the store.
The food has always been wonderful as are the desserts. Keep up the good work!

Though we arrived without reservations and at a time when it was officially closed, we were welcomed into this delightful tearoom. We were served delicious food, in a warm and chatty environment. We truly appreciate the historical recipes, the tour of the garden and the freshness of the foods. We will return!!

Ahhhhhhh The Lady Bug what a delightful experience. I will definitely be returning in the near future.I have read some of the past comments and felt a need to right down my own thoughts about the negative ones.

It's interesting that one of these outlandish reviews mentions no handicap access. I feel that these people have never even stepped a foot into the Lady Bug. If they had they would have noticed the handicap ramp out the dining room door which then leads diretly to the handicap parking in the back. Oh and it also passes the spendid garden of fresh vegetables. Which we were all told about. I invite all to come and enjoy the wonderfull time I had. Love You Ms. Millie, keep up the good work.

I have been to several rooms between Maryland and Pennsylvania and I must say the Lady Bug Tea Room is the BEST! I have been there several times and highly recommend it to all. The owner Ms. Millie and her family want each and every person who enter to have a memorable experience. The food is outstanding and made FRESH with FRESH Local ingredients. Her family recipes are to die for. The staff take time to explain the Tea's thoroughly and are very helpful in guiding you to what best suits your taste buds. I also love that each time I go I get to choose my own tea pot and cup :) In my experiences Ms. Millie is the only owner who really spends time getting to know her customers. She is genuinely interested in what you have to say. So please, don't let the negative comments deter you! I will guarantee if you go to the Lady Bug you will love it and keep coming back for more!!

This was my first visit to the Lady Bug and I have to say that I throughly enjoyed myself. The people are warm and welcomining, the food is wonderful, the tea is cozy and the atmosphere is relaxed. My friends and I had a wonderful time and while there made reservations for the Christmas Tea. Can't wait for my next visit.

I never take the time to post a review, but after reading the negative comments below I felt I had to voice my opinion. My friends & I travel around PA/MD visiting various tea rooms. We have been to MANY tea rooms and I can tell you that we have NEVER been to a tea room more than once, EXCEPT THE LADY BUG. We have been to The Lady Bug 3 times and made our 4th reservation today to come back for their Christmas tea. I have also purchased several of their homemade teas to enjoy at home. Their tea is the BEST I have ever had. There is no comparison! They DO NOT use commerical tea bags! I am not sure why this comment was posted?? I think the person may be confused as to which tea room they were really in? The food is ALWAYS so fresh and so delish and IT IS HOMEMADE! As far as the comment... (more)

I just couldn't let some of these negative comments go by without claifying them. I am an employee at the Lady Bug Tea Room as well as the head of The Royal-tea Club, (www.TheRoyal-teaClub.org). Millie absolutely does not use unpastuerized cream to make her clotted cream. I have had to pick it up for her at times. It comes from the Apple Valley Creamery and is both pastuerized and homogenized. As for the tea bags, they are absolutely not commercial tea bags. I have spent many hours making up tea bags for the tea room. She purchases empty bags, which we fill with her tea blends, and then iron shut. I am sure, if you wish to see them, Millie would be glad to show the loose teas to you. As for the decor - this seems to be such a cheap shot. Every tea room is unique and has it's own s... (more)

My sister and I decided to visit the Lady Bug Tea Room the other day, we were disappointed in the atmosphere, food and tea. Crackers were soggy, soup had no flavor (she needs to add herbs), serving methods lacked grace, desserts especially brownie was not homemade. This tea room is not worth your time or money, Owner does not have a pleasant personality, she needs to stay in the kitchen and improve the food. She needs to decorate and also needs to make the resident wheelchair friendly.

Not your typical tea room atmosphere...very down home, cozy. A large variety of homegrown teas that are given family member names, with a story on each member. You choose your own tea cup and tea pot from a large variety. The food was outstanding, everything freshly made that morning. I will definately have tea here again.

I have been here several times and this place is great! In the winter we are warmed inside with the wonderful hospitality of the owner and her niece (Millie and Jennifer). In the summer it is a pleasure to sit outside and take in the beautiful yard and flowers. The tea and stories make you escape from the worlds troubles and heartaches. I will continue to be a loyal customer for as long as they are there.
This is definitely a great place to relax, laugh, and enjoy friends, family and staff.

My daughters took me to this teahouse for my birthday. The tea and food was good but the owner was constantly interrupting us with her own stories(which were hard to believe). We were looking forward to some much needed mother-daughters time and were very annoyed by the time we were done. Tea time is more than good food and tea- it is to be a relaxing time ofconversation and fellowship. We will not be returning to this tearoom.

MY SON TOOK ME TO THE TEA ROOM FOR MOTHER'S DAY. WHAT CAN I SAY, I AM STILL GLOWING. I WAS AFRAID HE WOULD FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE AND WALK AWAY HUNGRY JUST TO PLEASE ME; BUT, WE BOTH ENJOYED OURSELVES AND LEFT VERY, VERY FULL. THE DECOR INSIDE WAS JUST LOVELY AND MADE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU WERE SITTING IN GRANDMA'S PARLOR HAVING TEA. THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT AND THE VARIETY WAS VERY SURPRISING. WE EAGERLY ANTICIPATED EACH COURSE AND THE STORY THAT WENT WITH IT. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A TEAROOM BEFORE SO I DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THE LADY BUG TEA ROOM. You start by selecting your OWN tea pot and OWN tea cup... and you get tea brewed in the pot you select. You select your own type of delicious tea! It's not just one of two provided in the tea room that evening - many choices every time we've been there. Yes, Millie is a talker, and not prone to let you sit and not feel right at home - in her and her husband's home and tearoom... which after he comes home from work, often helps with serving for the early evening teas - which made it easier on my husband the first time attending a 'tea'. What service! If you don't like in-your-face hospitality, and friendliness, well, I guess you may be irritated at the stories of Millie and her renovations of the old Victorian house in which the family and tea room abide. I have traveled to many tearooms in the area and have enjoyed tea at most. My friends and I visited The Ladybug during the winter and while it was fairly pleasant it was very noisy due to the wood floors. While the 4 of us tried to visit the owner kept interrupting to inform us how everything was from her garden. This was winter and the red and green peppers served were fresh. She also told us that the clotted cream was the real thing. Sorry but I have been to England several times and this was not Devonshire Cream. She also told us she milked the cow and took several hours to make this cream. Really!! Then we were informed that unlike other tea rooms in the area everything was made from scratch. What a sham, as we all just could not believe this comment as we have tried other tea rooms. This is one tea room that has been taken off our list.

Although the outside of this tearoom boasts a Victorian flair, I must admit that upon entry and throughout the tea, I definitely felt more of a down-home, deep in farm country, family legacy atmosphere. For those who say this is the best tea room...I feel that is like comparing apples to oranges. This is not like traditional English tea rooms. It is very simple and honest, modeled after a Japanese tea according to Millie. Millie welcomes you to her home, prepares homegrown, fresh family recipes served with homegrown and blended teas named after family members. I have never experienced a tea room like this. An aura of genuine humility and simple gratefulness shrouds every corner of this place, reminding the guest to leave the hustle and bustle of everyday living at the doorstep and enjoy life for what it is. We savored every bite, and drank every last drop of tea. Millie even shared some of her food secrets with us. Definitely worth visiting!
