Food: Worst experience ever! Bridal Shower for my sister in law to be today. They called us 6:30 pm last night because they lost the contract for the event and did not know what they were supposed to do for the shower today. Luckily my wife had a copy of the contract and was able to help them recreate it over the phone. 30 minutes before the event today nothing was ready. They barely got it ready in time. Then half way thru the event they pull my wife aside to get payment, and wanted to charge way more than the original amount agreed upon. My wife refused and they called her a B**** and said they would throw us out. Yes they called a customer during the middle of a shower a B****. They called the police and completely ruined the shower. Marsha the owner was the real B****. Absolute worse experience ever with any business I have ever dealt with. STAY AWAY!!!!!!! |

Food: This was a disappointing experience overall. We had a large group seated a long table so we wanted 4 pot of tea instead of three so we would have enough. They reluctanly agreed but then did not keep the pots full and we ran out of tea several times and they were slow to bring us more. However the tea was the best thing we had. The scones and sandwiches were merely 'OK' but nothing special. The desserts were just horrible. There was a tastless white cake cut in squares with a glob of white iceing. I had a mini eclair that had to be 2 weeks old. When I bit into it it just crumbled. I almost gagged it was so dry and tastless. I ended up just eating the fruit whuch was rather limp. Food: I am very sad to hear that the manager left the Lavender House! She made the place, always nice & overly helpful. I have never had a good experience with the owner there! She is more concerned with herself than to take care of her customers! The other day when I went in & found out the manager had left, the owner couldn't even be pulled off her cell phone to help customers! What a lady! Since then I have told all of my friends not to go to this establishment again the owner is so self absorbed and bitchy whats the point. I would rather go to Alice's Tea Shoppe at least there the service, owner and food are great! |

Food: I just had my wedding reception at the Lavender House! Simply Wonderful! I could not have asked for a better time. We have a few problems with the cake not being delivered on time from another vendor. The manager took over, and told me not to worry about a thing. The staff and food were awesome! They made everything perfect! |

Food: My sister and I have eaten lunch at The Lavender House twice in the past three months, and had similar experiences both times. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and definitely a ladies place. The food is good, but not great, and the waitresses are friendly. They do, however, have a tendency to forget to bring items that are described on the menu as being included in the meal, as well as condiments such as dressing for the salad and butter for the bread. When reminded, they bring the items promptly, but it shouldn't be necessary. I think the problem is they are understaffed for the volume of business they do at lunch and the waitresses are just too busy. We will continue to have lunch here when we are visiting historic McKinney as it is the nicest restaurant in old McKinney. |
