Overview

*2009 IS THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF 91 ACRE LITTLE BRITAIN FARM. Little Britain House was built in about 1880 on beautiful rolling acres of what is now a Kentucky Horse Farm. The house was built by a prominent doctor. When you enter the foyer your Tea adventure begins. There is a tall pier mirror where you may enjoy trying on some of the many hats and assessories for your Tea,just for fun. There is an antique tall case clock and as you walk through to the parlor you will see a collection of Victorian furniture. Several pieces from the collection of a KY statesman, senator and vice president Albin Barkley. This room is nice for a Cream Tea for two, if requested. You will then proceed through the gift shop, overloaded wilh teas, tea pots, cozies, misc. other tea needs, blown glass jewelry, etc, books & minitures, You then arrive at the Den where if you return on your own one day, you may request a Cream Tea here and read one of the many books as you enjoy your Tea. Next you will stroll through the Garden area, with many tropical plants and a view of the stables. Here too is a nice place to have a Cream Tea. Then comes the dining room area where Cream Teas, Petite Full Teas and Full Teas and Group Teas are served. Each room is furnished with antiques from around the world creating an ambiance of comfortable elegance. We hope that Tea at Little Britain House will confirm that you are a very special guest and leave you with the desire to return again very soon.

I took my granddaughter for her 'first' tea. She was delighted the owner Phyllis made her feel so special and she enjoyed her dress up attire.

Little Britain House offers a relaxing, beautiful atmosphere for tea. I felt very pampered, sipping Jasmine Pearl tea, eating the delicious bread pudding, and surrounded by the incredible antiques and accessories. Other items on the menu that I recommend as especially tasty:
the creamy rich cheese potato soup,
the Benedictine and honey nut sandwiches, and the bite-sized quiche. The owner is very welcoming
in sharing her home and her enjoyment of the tea experience with those who come to Little Britain.

Best tea experience this side of the British Isles or anywhere Asian. A striking attention to comfort and style--a solid combination hard to achieve in a tea room--and the tea and treats are delicious. Phyllis is Kentucky's top tea alchemist.

My first visit to the Little Britain House Teahouse was wonderful. Upon entering I first saw many formal European furnishings, the table was set so suberberly with Christmas decorations and formal linens. I took a tour of the tearoom and its many music boxes and small intimate sitting areas.
The food was delicious, especially the Scones and many cookies available. A favorite sandwich was the 'Benedictine', a cucumber sandwich. The teas that were served were a black premium Ceylon tea from SriLanka fused with natural vanilla plus a Premium Herbal Brew from South Africa infused with natural Peach.
Both were excellent .
The hostess, Phyllis, was very charming and informational about the history of teas and tea rooms. All in all I had a very delightful afternoon. I will return in the Spring for a new adventure in tea room dining.

- Sue Ann Wehrman 12/11/08
