I have eaten at this 'tea shop' several times always hoping for an improvement. I have give up. The food is expensive to start. It is not fresh. They make it sometime or other and then when you order it, the server microwaves it in front of you. The pastries are not homemade with the exception occassionally of a chocolate chip cookie or so. They come in huge boxes and are displayed in such, are dry and very tasty. They have a deli and make fresh sandwiches to order but they slowly made. A sandwich and soda will set you bac between $10 and $12. The gelato is good but pricey, and it is only good if you get a freshly opened container, summer best time to buy. If you go inwinter ti get the treat, you will get some gooey stuff with it letting you know that it's old and been in a freezer too long. They do how ever have two things that we stop in for. The tea related antiques and the bunny mint. Commercially made mints are available with a pic of a long ago deceased family pet, Bunny the horse. The antiques are normal but occassionally I can find a unique item to add to my collection of tea related items. Skip the food.

took a ride out to Warrenton to go to this tea house.. It was quite cute in a small setting. The food was good..the Gelato was out of this world! It was worth the trip. Prices are in line with most of the tea houses around and I would recommend this to anyone who like to Tea house hop like we do.

I was nervous about my visit because of the range of experiences described on teamap, but I'm pleased to say that my friend and I had a wonderful time. Susan led us to our table, and she was pleasant and friendly. Penny makes the scones and the desserts, and she was very sweet and clearly took pride in her work. Our server was also very good; she let us talk and enjoy our time without hovering over us constantly. I tried the Queen Victoria with Lady Grey tea, and everything was perfect. The tea was light and flavorful and just what I wanted on a sunny afternoon. Penny suggested I try it with lemon, and her suggestion was spot on. The chicken salad on croissant was amazing (served warm!), and the ham was high quality. The scone was delicious, especially with a healthy dollop of lemon curd. The desserts were a chocolate wedding biscuit, a lemon bar, and a blackberry shortcake along with a healthy complimentary scoop of chocolate chocolate-chip gelato. Everything was fantastic, but I have to say that the blackberry shortcake was my favorite. Overall, I was thrilled with my experience, and I would certainly go back.

My daughter, mother and I have been to tea in places all over. I was very disappointed when we came here as this tea room is closer to our house than most. The server told us that scones are supposed to be hard as a rock. I have never had that before in my life. I will say our tea was loose leaf and good. The other problem that I had was that there were so many flies inside the tea room that it really distracted from the experience. My daughter was quiet and I was told that she maybe was not suitable to go to tea. I had to explain that she had been to tea many times before. I will not go back.

My friend and I enjoyed a pleasant spot of tea here yesterday. Downtown Warrenton is fortunate to have The Madison Tea Room presided over by owner Susan who takes pride in both serving tea and telling stories of the historic building. The homemade croissants are perfect. Don't miss tasting Susan's tea creation - Hibiscus Tea. It is wonderful.

my friend and I have had tea in tea rooms all over northern VA. Our experience here was not good. The owner is rude, plain and simple. She told me once that she doesn't like the Red Hat Ladies because they take up too much time at the tables and they're too boisterous. sheesh....I think she is taking herself way too seriously.

My mother and I were in town to celebrate our birthdays by exploring Old Town Warrenton and decided to have tea. As it was a Tuesday afternoon, we had the entire place to ourselves, and enjoyed a beautiful and peaceful tea together.

I had earl grey and the ploughman's lunch, mom had chicken salad and chamomile-hibiscus tea (a specialty of the house). It was delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely. Susan was a fabulous hostess. Also, the creme de menthe gelato is awesome.

I was on here checking out tea room's for my mother and I to try out. I have to say after the comment by the tea room on the last comment, I will not be coming to this tea room ever! I do not know 'Kelly' or the owner but feel it is ridiculous that some criticism cannot be given and taken with more grace. It sounds like this tea room owner needs to learn how to 'become a lady'. I have been to many tea rooms and one that hosted my daughter's 7th birthday party with 8 girls. Part of being a tea room owner I feel should include being a gracious host and have patience towards children who are there for a new experience. I believe a heartfelt apology should have occured under this comment instead of another slam at the customer!

Had it not been for rudeness from the owner my daughters and I would have had a wonderful experience. While I was in the process of informing one of my girls to lower her voice, the owner thought she needed to take over and humiliated her by saying 'There are other people here.' In front of the entire shop this brought my daugther to tears. When I later tried to explain that I was 'on it' the owner told me it was high time that my daughter learn to be a lady. The employees were sweet and wonderful but the owner is insulting and offensive.

I have enjoyed tea here for years with various family members and friends and have never been disappointed. The scones are the best and the service is always wonderful. I look forward to many more visits.

Not a wide variety of teas here, but what they have is excellent, as is the food. My friends and I had the Queen Victoria tea, which came with two small sandwiches (chicken salad on a croissant, ham on white bread), a cranberry scone, a scoop of gelato (your choice of flavors) and three cookies.

Service was wonderful, warm and friendly, and we had a lot of fun looking around the room with its glass and china and other knick-knacks. I'm just sorry I don't live close enough to visit more often!

I really enjoyed tea at Madison's Tea Room. I went with my mother and two young daughters. Three generations, and we all throughly enjoyed our experience. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at Madison's. They were wonderful and most accommodating. The scones were second to none and the gelato was the best I have ever tasted. I look forward to future visits to Madison's Tea Room.

I have visited quite a few tea rooms in the area, and cannot figure out why the Madison Tea Room does not have a higher rating in VA. Keep up your great work!

I had tea here in Spring 2009 with my wife and her friend. The food, tea, and service were all good. I thought the food quality was a step above the Pink Bicycle tea room's food (Occoquan, VA). But, Madison's tea selection is not as extensive. All three of us enjoyed it, and thought it was a good value. Also, they had a really good and interestng selection of English cheeses in the deli side of the house.
