Overview

The Victorian era was a time when food and conversation were enjoyed in a leisurely yet elegant atmosphere.

Miss Mable's Tea Room, located in the heart of Dickson, Tennessee, away from the hustle and bustle of nearby Nashville, re-creates that era in a beautiful Victorian home now converted into this elegant restaurant.

Established in December of 1995, Miss Mable's Tea Room opened its doors to serve an authentic English Tea in a traditional Victorian setting to patrons seeking an atmosphere of calm and romance. Owners Fay and Mark Davidson bought the 109-year-old-home near downtown Dickson and restored it to its original period design and decor, complete with lace curtains, ornate mirrors, beautiful furniture and gorgeous accessories.

Part of the charming atmosphere of the tearoom is that patrons are encouraged to dress the part once they enter the front door. The Davidson's have gathered more than 400 hats plus boas and gloves for the clientele to wear as they sip their tea and nibble on a variety of food items, including scones with Devonshire cream, dainty finger sandwiches, miniature muffins, wonderful soup, quiche, and delectable desserts. The food reflects a menu that might be served at an English Afternoon Tea. On Friday and Saturday evening, Miss Mable's also serves an English High Tea, which adds a dish such as Beef Wellington or Breast of Chicken Wrapped In Phylo to the Afternoon Tea.

I have been eating at Miss Mable's for about 9 years and I have never been disapointed! They have an amazing menu with more tea choices than imaginable. The staff is always sweet and the owner, Faye, is one of the nicest ladies that I have ever met! Miss Mable's Tea Room has gone out of their way over the years to help our church with events and I am very thankful. Thanks especially to Jennifer for all of your help!

This is the sweetest tearoom I have ever been too. The food is wonderful and the tea sandwiches are great!
They change the menu every month which
gives you a chance to try many different foods. The full afternoon tea is a lot of food and well worth the $19.95 price. I have been to several tearooms and by far this is the best deal for the money. Everyone must try Miss Mable's Tearoom. It is a true tea experience. Just what I had hope for.

This was my first visit to a Tennessee tea room. I was disappointed. While there was a seemingly large variety of tea, I only had one choice without being charged more. The food was seriously lacking. We (my mom, daughter, and I) were not the least bit impressed. It LOOKED good, but tasted terrible. Also, our waitress did not seem real interested in serving us. I don't know who ranks the tea rooms in Tennessee, but if this is the best, I would hate to go anywhere else.

We went to Mable's on the recommendation of a friend and were hugely dissapointed. The atmosphere was nice. The salad and
scone were delicious but the sandwiches and desserts were not anything to talk about. The bread for the sandwiches was a little dry and the fillings were not very tasty. For our 19.95 we got two kinds of sandwiches, a piece of nut bread and a little tiny fruit cup and the tasty salad and scone and fruit. Very disappointing. If you want to go to the best Tea place in the U.S. go to the one in Tillamook, OR, called LaTeaDa. It is the best.

My friends and I have made 3 trips from Memphis to enjoy tea at Miss Mables. Every minute was a delight; food, tea and of course the shopping. Will always remember the snow falling out the window while enjoying a great cup of hot tea and all that goes with it. Looking forward to another road trip. I have been to Miss Mable's twice, but only becuse I do not live close to Dickson. But both times I was so impressed with it all. The second time my friends and I wore the hats and Boa's. We had so much fun and the food was GREAT. I didn't find anything bad about the whole experience. I don't know how that one lady complained about the food or service. The food and tea was great and the people were more than kind. I will for sure go again the next chance I get.

Last summer, I brought 11 of my Red Hat ladies from Jackson, TN. It took us a while to get there, but it was worth the drive. We all loved the whole experience! We were enchanted with the decor, and delighted with the presentation of the tea, all the accoutrements, and the excellent food. There was such a variety of teas available, we were quite confused and asked a lot of questions! Our server was a lovely young woman who took very good care of us. We enjoyed going upstairs after our tea. I bought a pair of red and purple teapot earrings and everyone in Jackson who sees them wants to know where I got them. I have enthusiastically recommended they drive to Dickson! We will be back.

My friend & I visited for the first time in October & drove all the way out from Nashville (Green Hills area). I was so impressed! I don't even like teas but thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Food was delicious, wait staff was so friendly & the presentation was so nice. I also enjoyed the shopping upstairs! In fact, I am leaving my home now to pick up Elisabeth again because we have a reservation today! I can't wait!!! It's worth the 40 minute drive!

I simply love going to Miss Mables. I take my Mom & all of my closest friends when they are in town. The food & house are great!! It is the best tea room I have ever been to. I have had a couple of experiences that were not up to par but the owner was very accommodating and I still return because I know those experiences were not the norm. Overall, this is one of my favorite places. Thank you for the great customer service and delightful food/tea.

I am looking forward to returning to Miss Mabel's Tea Room in November. I have dined at many Tea Rooms and Miss Mabel's is by far the best. An elegant, Southern tea room.

I would rate this the best tearoom ever. Bruce Richardson was right when he put Miss Mable's in his book. I go to tearooms all the time and Miss Mable's know how to serve tea.

I am an employee at Miss Mable's, and I really must retort. When I serve guests in the tearoom, it's like welcoming them into my home. It's not like going to a chain. We put a lot of work into this, and our own ideas and time. It is insulting to serve someone over and over, and know that he/she will complain yet keep returning. Fay's right - if you're looking for a handout go somewhere else. You drive up our costs and therefore our prices. We cannot afford to feed you for free all the time. If there truly is a problem, we all do everything we can to correct it and ensure the satisfaction and desire to return in our customers, but if every time you return you feel the need to complain, then obviously the tearoom, food, and staff is not the problem.

Even if you didn't enjoy your two plates of food, you ought to have tipped your server.

We went to Miss Mable's Tea Room for dinner friday night. How disapointing it was. The food was awful! This was my first time we went for dinner and I spoke to the owner about the food being sub-standard but, she got angry and wanted us to leave . We had gotten the buffet. Yuck! The catfish was bad at best tasting like the gravel at the bottom of an aquarium, the 'chopped steak' was a scalloped hamburger patty that you can get from wal mart, the veggies were soggy and tastless and mostly stalk. It was all a disaster! The owner was rude, unprofessional, and not a very good hostess to her guests. Needless to say, we will never again will I pay 52.00 for a salad and cup of tea and to be treated so badly. Miss Mables is not a good place to dine at all. The decor is great but thats about it. That night was a monstrous disappointment and I will never return to that bitter, rude, greedy and spiteful woman's establishment ever again. I suggest you all save your hard earned money and go somewhere else.

OK Sherry if you are going to complain, lets be honest, You have been here 4 other times and each time and recieved your food for free. You mother seems to think this is how you eat in Dickson. Complain just to get free food. Two of our waitress are suppose to be your friends yet you did not tip them. If the food the food is bad it was not their fought.
The meal was $52.00 but you had to-go orders and I did charge you for four teas and $8.00 for the three salads. The house was full and no other complaints. I still don't understand why you didn't like it when all three of you had two plates each. I did check with some of the other resraunts in town and found out this is how the Vivian Williams family works. What a sad way to live. I never asked your family to leave but let it be know if you do come to any of my business, I will call the authorities. You will not get anymore free meals from me.
