We love to come to Miss Minerva's Tea room for a pot of tea and a afternoon of relaxation . I love all the teas and the gift shop is full of tea to take home with you, if you live a few miles away. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the food is very good.

Miss Minerva's Tea Room is a dainty delight! We held a surprise bridal shower here and it could not have been more perfect! All of the guests adorned a lovely hat from Grandma's attic to make it quite festive. Monica and Pat were very accommodating and very easy to work with. It is nice to see that Culpeper offers such a wonderful place for a special occasion or just a place to drop in and relax with friends. If your needs require a unique place for a special occasion, look to Miss Minerva's Tea Room for the venue. Carolyn Mawdsley

Miss Minerva's is a delightful experience! With a large variety of teas to choose from, you start by sniffing and selecting, and each tea is served in an individual pot. For my 3-year-old granddaughter they had an adorable animal pot. The food was delicious and healthy, and they can accommodate food allergies, gluten-free, etc. The hostess was attentive and accommodating without interrupting our conversation. Their dress-up room is fun too. Well worth the experience!

Miss Minerva's is an experience you need to have. Located in the old downtown, you couldn't ask for a better atmosphere. The staff are the loveliest little ladies you've ever met. The moment you walk into the tea room to the time you leave, you've made friends and satisfied yourself with the best tea in town. I highly recommend you visit this little jewel if you haven't already

My review of Miss Minerva's is long overdue, my wife and I have been enjoying teas purchased from the shop for many years. The tea selection is as excellent as it is varied, there is something here for every taste and mood. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is traditional, you won't be disappointed! As a tea purchaser, I don't often eat at Miss Minerva's but when I have the soups are always delicious and the orange coolers are a definite treat that pair well with any tea. I highly encourage you to visit. If you live in the area and drink tea at home on a regular basis it will soon become your go-to for the drink we can't live without.

My best friend and I visit at Miss Minerva's twice a year to celebrate our birthdays and catch up with one another --- we began this tradition a number of years ago when Miss Minerva's was located at its old location --- so we have dined here numerous times. As always, the food is excellent and the wait staff most cordial. The seasonal scones are always a delicious start to the full English tea that we always enjoy. The tea selection is a wonderful variety --- have enjoyed every selection I've made over the years. Very nice atmosphere with numerous "tea" related items to purchase. Several adjacent shops are also fun to browse and visit. Spend the afternoon in Culpeper -- you won't be disappointed. However, Miss Minerva's remains a highlight and worth the trip.

I have been to Miss Minerva's twice and both times were fantastic! The tea room and shop are so inviting. All the tea knick knacks (cups, strainers, cute tea pot cozies, books, etc) that are for sale and decoration are on point. Super cute and functional! Amazing variety of loose leaf teas both to enjoy during a tea party and/or to purchase as to stir your memories while you're sitting at home enjoying a cup :) Our server, Savannah, was super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Monica also came out to greet us with her bubbly and friendly self! The food is terrific, good variety of goodies (scones, tea sandwhiches, pound cake, etc) and the clotted cream is the best!! I highly recommend checking this tea room out. You can pop in or make a reservation Sit back, relax and enjoy some yummy tea and treats!

On a recent day trip to Sperryville and Culpeper, I stopped in to check out the tearoom, as all the tea rooms in Fredericksburg are closed. The owner greeted me with a free scone and some clotted cream to try. She gave me take home menus of their food and tea selections. I did not stay to eat as my husband does not kike tea rooms. Cannot imagine why. He thinks they are for women only. Anyway, my daughter and I LOVE tea rooms and ate at Miss Minervas at their other location some years back. It was delightful, delicious and we are going to drive back to Culpeper as soon as my recent surgery is completed, so we can enjoy the ambience and wonderful food. I am so looking forward to this road trip with my daughter. Thank u to the owner Miss Pat, for the wonderful scone she gave me, just for stopping in. We will see you soon, hopefully within 2 weeks. I recommend Miss Minervas to all who love Tea Rooms and their cuisine.

There are many hats for you to fancy, teas and tea sundries are for sale. The scones and devonshire clotted cream is wonderful. I had the full three tier tea and it was a wonderful experience!

We had a wonderful visit to Miss Minerva's last Friday. We took the train down from the Washington, DC area, as a special outing on a day off from school, and it was completely worth the trip. The food, tea, and service were as good as in any tearoom I've encountered. Though our group featured six children, including a two-year-old, the lovely staff made us feel not only tolerated, but welcome and appreciated. The other patrons burst into applause as our daughters emerged from the back room dressed in fancy hats and jewelry! The current timing of Amtrak trains makes this a very easy outing from Washington for lunch and/or tea, with time to explore the rest of historic downtown Culpeper afterwards. We will definitely be back!

This is our second year in Culpeper, and our second year to take my granddaughter to Miss Minerva's for her birthday celebration. She turned 7 years old this year, and insisted we have tea for her birthday like we did last year. I think we have started a new family tradition! The service is beyond compare, and they make adults and children alike feel at home. The teas and food are also wonderful, and they have something for everyone. We have had the Tea for Three, the Wee Tea, and find them all to be delightful and satisfying. The tea selection is wonderful. The entire experience is fun and memorable.

This was not my first trip to Miss Minerva's and something didn't feel right when I arrived. It has been several years since my last visit and in the meantime the tea room has relocated. This solved the mystery and the new location is much brighter and more inviting. What didn't change was the pleasure of being there.

My party consisted of four loosely related adults and one child, my 4 year old granddaughter, attending her first formal tea. As recommended, we made reservations which included requests for one vegetarian and one individual with celiac disease (gluten intolerance). Miss Minerva's was able to accommodate our requirements without hesitation. The afternoon was wonderful; the tea selection was wide enough to satisfy our variety of tastes, the food was very good, and the service was attentive and very gracious.

My party left with some very positive impressions including: Miss Minerva's ability to address a variety of dietary requirements, the loose tea samples at the table (and on the wall) which permitted us the opportunity to smell the various teas before making our choices, and their willingness to make a small adjustment to my granddaughter's order to provide something she would eat. While I have no complaints, I would offer one suggestion. For younger ladies or gentlemen enjoying tea, Miss Minerva's might consider providing child sized plastic tea service. The adult tea cups are a bit heavy for small hands, especially with tea in them, and plastic wear would reduce some of the normal adult fears that the tea service might get broken accidentally.

And, for whatever it is worth, I am a 65 year old grandpa with a slightly curmudgeonly outlook on life. This visit was one of life's simple pleasures and I have the pictures to prove it!

I have eaten at this tea shop three times hoping for an improvement each time. Each time I have asked for no less than two teas before I find one they actuaaly have in stock even though it was offered for selection. Secondly, the food is just not that good or imaginative. The egg salad is very plain and not tasty at all. The age of the desserts is questionable, not baked fresh that day for sure. And the bread is from a grocery store and not inspiring. The first time I visited, with my daughter, we ordered two full teas. What was brought out would not have satisfied one person, even though we were asured we would leave unable to eat everthing. The sandwiches were cut exceptionally small, bite size, as was everthing else. There is a hat room where you may borrow lady like items to be more teaish but I found all of the hats to be dirty with hair grease, and forbade my teenage daughter from trying them on. Service has been slow each time and we have received an apology from the poor server each time about the delay. The decor is cheap and the ' dressed up dummy' is relatively scary. We left $48 less rich and still hungry. Maybe if we had gone for the conversation and not the food and tea we would have a more glowing review, but we did not. It was quite though each time. Locals don't seem to go there much, but the 'red hatters' do. Again for the conversation not the food.

Excellent choice on the menu. The tea was brewed the correct way, a wonderful variety of small sandwiches and a scone, AND a large pot of tea (most tea rooms only serve a single small pot of tea) made up my lunch. I was very impressed. I have tried the only other tea rooms (two) in my area of Spotsylvania County and neither can compare with Miss Minerva's Tea Room for quantity, variety and quality of my lunch. I highly recommend Miss Minerva's Tea Room in Culpepper VA.

Had a friend visiting from TX for her birthday, and wanted it to be special. After enjoying Davis St in the heat of the day, we stopped in for lunch at Miss Minerva's. Although we both love hot tea, it was far too hot to have a hot beverage, so we both ordered cold tea. It far exceeded our expetations, she had Iced Spearmint, and I had the Iced Peach. Along with the 3 tiers of delicious food included, we spent a delightful time. Meghan was very gracious, and when I asked to speak to Pat, the owner, she came right out and greeted us also. No other tea room comes close to the friendliness and food, in my opinion! The topper of it all is the delicious orange coolers! You musst try them!

I had planned a stop at Miss Minerva's Tea Room to begin our 15,000 Day Anniversary. The traffic and weather were so bad I was afraid we would be unable to make it before checking in at our B&B. As it turned out we made it right after the lunch crowd had cleared out for the day. As always the selections of teas were wonderful. Having Celiac disease makes our tea room adventures tough. But, Miss Minerva's always has great food selections even to cover my diet. Non-stuffy relaxing atmosphere (including a great music selection), great customer service, an incredible selection of high end tea, thoughtful menu options (you can tell they know their customer and the trends without being 'trendy'), and wonderful food.

My friend and I were in Culpepper shopping on a rainy day recently and popped in for lunch. The room has a lovely classic decor of cream and golds, matching tea service at each table, and comfortable chairs. The server was knowledgeable and we 'sniffed' many teas before deciding on our two. The food was excellent and priced fairly. Not over filling. Miss Minerva's is strictly a tea service venue, without any luncheon choices of sandwiches and soap, which would be a nice alternative. The tea pots are large and you definitely get all you can possible drink, however, since the pots are so large, and without a tea cozy for insulation, the tea cooled before we were half finished. I highly recommend this establishment and will return myself with someone, I am sure, in tow.

I loved the tearoom experience as I am from the UK and enjoy a nice cup of tea in the afternoon. The variety of teas and food was great, delicious and well presented. The waitress was helpful and cheerful. However, I think it would be a great asset if small cake forks were given as some of the items were a bit messy, and also tea cosies for the teapot would be wonderful as by the time I got to my last cup of tea, the tea was cold. Not good for a Brit! Loved the ambiance - very relaxing.

I love Miss Minerva's. I have taken countless guests there and they have enjoyed it as much as I do. Personally I think it should be the number one tearoom, as I have been to Pinkadilly's and was not as impressed as I am with Miss Minerva's. Being able to smell the types of tea before you order is very appealing, there are tastes and varieties for everyone. It's got a great atmosphere whether you're going as a couple, with family, or even with kids who want to dress up in silly hats. Their tea for two is the perfect amount for two people, I leave happily full every time. What is also unique about this place is they change their desserts and sandwiches offered, so you never know what you might get to try! Highly recommend it to anyone of any age. Even if you're not a tea lover, this is a must-do! It makes going to a tearoom and enjoyable experience for anyone. Not to mention the service is provided by kind, sincere, delightful people.

I have taken Tea here many times over the years. In the past, I always come away happy. This time must have been unusual. My husband and I ordered a full tea for two. The menu was a bit disappointing. Only one sandwich-a sliver of a croissant with chicken salad. The rest of the savories were too much alike. Almost everything else was something with an artichoke or spinach spread on it: cherry tomato, cucumber slice, small slice of bread, even the 'quiche lorraine' was really quiche florentine (spinach. The menu was not varied enough-though each item on it's own was okay. If one did not like spinach or artichoke (my husband) they had little to please. Need more sandwiches to offset the produce with a spread on it. The scones tasted like a mix and the desserts-only two items: a sliver of strawberry cake (cake mix?) and a tiny cookie. No chocolate (so good with tea!).

The tea (both of ours) was weak-like they used less than the proper amount for the pot. I would prefer to pay $5 more and have more first course choices and a few more desserts.

I would come again-based on overall past experiences. I hope they consider varying the menu more and add a few more items.

I have visited Miss Minerva’s Tea Room several times over the last year, and have always had friendly service, wonderful tea, and enjoyed a quiet & cozy atmosphere. They have a vast selection of loose leaf teas, which can be sniff-sampled at the table. I’m sure they have close to 70 teas. Deciding which one to try is always the difficult part, but the servers are helpful and quick to offer suggestions.

I would consider it a 'must visit' for anyone passing through Culpeper, or as a destination for tea aficionados.

I got together with some college friends this past weekend at Miss Minerva's. The tabletop tea carousel allowed us to “sniff” any teas we wanted that were also completely described in the brochure provided at the table. We selected multiple varieties and shared them to give everyone a taste. The finger food provided was an excellent selection and of ample quantity; enjoyed the scones with the condiments. We wished we had remembered the room in the back where you can pick out hats, stoles, necklaces, etc. to wear for your vintage tea experience – we’ll have to do that the next time.

Oh what a uniquely delightful time I had at Miss Minerva’s Tea Room this past Wednesday, 12 December 2012! I’ve never written a restaurant review before. Miss Minerva’s was recommended to me for lunch so highly during a recent shopping adventure that I had to try it. In this day and age when I am so often just a number in some overly rushed public space with rather routine selections, Miss Minerva’s was a true joy. I ordered the full English Tea with organic Cheeky Peach hot tea, the latter recommended by my neighboring diners. Perfect, just perfect. My beautiful plate containing a variety of tea sandwiches, bite-sized savories and desserts was like a jewel box with each “trinket” better than the last. Oh I was full by the end, but with delectable tastes and sensations left behind. I can’t go anywhere else now. I only hope to come with a friend next time because the Tea for Two selections come on a glorious tiered serving tray! With such exquisite food and drink and a marvelously charming owner and staff. . .why would I go anywhere else?

We are a group of ladies who have had tea at Christmas for over 25 years. After a few of us retired, we began searching for a 'tea room' that would compliment those we had visited in Washington. This tea room is 'top notch' and competes with 4-star hotel teas we attended over the years. Any one who enjoys good food, great tea selections and a wonderful ambiance, should visit Ms. Minerva's. It is outstanding.

We had a lovely time with the full English Tea.

All the savries were yummy and the tea marvellous! My only complaint was the dessert sweets weren't great. The orange cooler cookies tasted like raw cookie dough, and the blueberry muffins were like paste. The brownie was very chocolaty but a bit too sweet.

The entire experience was delightful. The tea selection was impressive--I think there were 50 teas to choose from--and I had trouble narrowing down my choice because they all smelled wonderful. I chose the full English tea: my own pot of tea, a scone with clotted cream and jam, and an assortment of sandwiches, savories, and desserts. The tea was delicious, and the food was superb. Everything was so delicious. The price ($20) was more than reasonable. I have paid more for much less at other tea rooms. The service was excellent, and the variety of teas and accessories for purchase was impressive. The atmosphere was very relaxing. It was traditional (some guests wore tea hats, classical music was playing, guest spoke in quiet tones), but it was also relaxing and comfortable at the same time. I had such a wonderful time. I will definitely come back to Miss Minerva's.

I have been bringing friends to Miss Minerva's since the days it was called 'Tea, Lace and Roses' for over 10 years now. My friends are always pleased with the wonderful tea variety (every color leaf tea imaginable)and knowledge that comes with each visit. My namesake, Julie, is my favorite person who takes the greatest care and time to answer questions and address any concerns (such as: alas, my favorite Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea is no longer being made---drat!). I always buy extra of the other loose leaf teas I enjoy so that I can continue to partake in the healthy benefits of drinking tea at home. It usually takes me over an hour to drive to Culpepper, but is well worth the time and seeing the historic downtown is an added benefit to the sojourn. I'm so glad you all have been able to weather the economy and continue to operate such a lovely high tea experience! (Your lemon and raspberry coolers are the best!) By the way, husbands are known to like the experience, as well! For first time visitors, weekdays are the best time to really relax and experience this traditional tearoom.

I am visiting Fairfax County with family from Altamonte Springs, Fl took a nice scenic ride to Culpeper to this tearoom. What a delightful tea. The offerings were excellent. We had the Christmas Tea which was the best I ever tasted , my family had the Cinamon Plum which was smooth and delightful and my other family member had the Apricot Tea. Was served in elegant teapots and china. We choose the Full English Tea for our lunch offering. The scones were outstanding and the best Chicken Salad and Ham Salad we ever tasted. The Chutney on the Biscotti was a little too spicey for our tastebuds. The desert included these orange butterball cookies just melted in your mouth and the Almond Poundcake and Zuccini bread were so light and tastey. This tearoom is a must you will not be disappointed. Next time I am visiting Fairfax again we will return. My family member says this place she will return too with her daughters on special occassions. Well worth the trip. My friend and I traveled from the Annapolis, MD area for a day of tea and antiquing. This tearoom was well worth the trip! Great location, lovely setting. The tea bar was offered at our table, and was definitely fun. Plus I discovered a new tea to love, Mayan Cacao (which was available to purchase). We ordered the full afternoon tea, which included a perfect blueberry scone, savories and sweets. We also added the soup of the day. All the food was delicious and nicely presented. Service was all that it could be. Needless to say, we were quite full by the last course so boxed most of the desserts to go. Funny story: Later we were ready for a snack between shopping and thoroughly enjoyed the remaining sweets from our tea. And discovered the absolute best was the little orange powdered sugar ball! It was so good we rushed back to Culpeper to see if we could buy some for the ride home. Sadly, the tearoom was closed by then. My advice is to definitely eat that treat first in case you are able to buy more to go!

I booked a private function for my friend's birthday party. The guests were so thrilled to be invited to tea that we needed 2 servings. Pat and her staff were extremely flexbible and helpful in accomodating everyone who to wanted to come. I showed up early to decorate and they were very warm and helpful.

The menu: chicken salad on croissant, roast pork with tomato pesto spread on a biscuit, cucumber with herb spread, date filled with goat cheese, mushroom filled with artichoke and parmesan, sweet and sour meatballs, cherry scones with clotted cream (the best thing ever!) and jam, and almond pound cake. In a word, delicious. The quality and quantity of food was impressive. We ate buffet style and Pat kept the buffet table filled. No one went hungry! A couple of kids in our group had the 'wee tea'. I had the fortune to sit across from one of these little ones and watched her eyes light up with it was served to her. She loved it.

We had pots of tea on each table. I know nothing of tea, so the fabulous staff picked it out for us - a blue eyes tisane tea and a peach rooibos tea. Both naturally decaffinated and delicious. One of our guests prefers black teas and when I let the staff know, she was brought her own pot, which she loved. Service was impeccible.

As for the tea pots, I absolutely fell in love with them. There were tea pots and other very attractive knick knacks for sale at great prices. The room at the back had hats and beads and everyone loved dressing up.

All in all, it was an exceptional time, at a great price, in a fabulous location.

Miss Minerva's truly is the #1 tea room in Virginia. And I see why - it's the best! I can't wait to come back.

I took my Mother to Miss Minerva's for Christmas Tea and it was wonderful. The selection of teas was the best I've seen in all my experiences, the server was very friendly and helpful, and the scones/finger sandwiches/savories were delicious. I was also pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the prices were and by the amount of tea you get (about 4 cups per pot). My mom remarked at how 'perfect' the scones were--not too hard, not too crumbly.

The atmosphere was nice in the new location--it was bright and open. Miss Minerva's is very accessible, and easily accommodates walk-in business. I will definitely be by again in the near future, even if just for a pot of tea and a scone. I highly recommend it.

Our visit was fantastic! We had the best Afternoon Tea I have had ever! The hats were fabulous in the hat room, but I had worn mine, so didn't need to use one! The Pearls and beads were quite lovely!

We also were dressed up for TEATIME, so didn't need any of these accessories presented, but they were quite lovely! Enjoyed a nice afternoon of teatime and then we both bought the TEA, LACE & ROSES nail files, which were gorgeous ROSES with the Company info imprinted on them. I bought the PUMPKIN SPICE loose tea to take home and enjoy further, along with some T-sacs for use with the loose tea! A great time in Virginia and will support tearooms across the country as much as I can, such as TEA,LACE & ROSES! The friendliest ladies ever and the food was Gourmet and very tasty and presented very professionally! THANK YOU JULIE! THANK YOU LADY PAT! God Bless and When we travel thru again, we shall surely stop in and have a lovely Tea with you! Soft music was playing in the background, and that makes for a calming experience. A Grand visit, thanks again!

This is my 2nd time to Tea, Lace & Roses, but first time under the new management. It was EXCELLENT in every imaginable way!

:-)What an enchanting trip across Virginia, from Staunton/Verona, to enjoy the Lovely World of teatime at Tea, Lace & Roses Tearoom! Lovely Julie greeted us and served us very well! The owner, Pat Settle, greeted us at the table and we enjoyed meeting her and talking, also! My friend, Angela and I chose the TEA FOR TWO teatime! We enjoyed the lovely Apple Scones with the jam and clotted creme along with the tiered tray of numerous sandwiches, treats and desserts! Amazing food, amazing hostess Julie, and amazing owner, Pat Settle. They are in the process of moving down the street to a larger location, and should be settled in by the end of November. We enjoyed this DAY so much, being treated like Queens, that we will try to make a CHRISTMAS TEA day in December, if the weather and safe roads cooperate! We chose the Mademoiselle Earl Grey loose tea,a fter indulging in the massive SNIFFER BAR of numerous teas to choose from. We took lots of picture and entertained ourselves in the 'FUN' room. There are lots of hats to choose from, jewelry to put on, and lacy dresses and mirrors to 'PLAY IN' if one needs to get dressed for their 'TEATIME' Top notch in every way and I just know they will EXCEL even more in their new location. BRAVO LADIES JULIE AND PAT...you made us feel like true Queens, even IF for but a day! :-) God Bless and we will RETURN soon!

A few weeks ago, my 2 friends and I visited. This was a special occasion for us because we hadn't all been in the same room in about 10 years! We used to 'take tea' together many years ago and it was always a tradition for us.Our tradition was able to continue thanks to this wonderful tea room! What a delightful experience! We had the best time. From choosing teas and dressing up and being silly, what a treat! Our server was so kind to take pictures of us! Our English Tea was delicious. We only wished we lived closer to visit more often. Thanks for the memorable day!!

Visited a tea room in another town and had a great time, so when my mother, a friend and i planned a trip to Culpeper, we happily sought out Tea, Lace & Roses. What a disappointment! Part of the fun in doing this is the dressing up, but the gloves were dirty--we all skipped them. the hat selection was poor--nearly all of them fairly plain straw hats. several of the hats were ratty looking and the 'jewelry' was basically mardi gras beads. the food was dreadful--the crustino was so dried my friend couldn't bite into it. i tried my dinky little knife and couldn't cut it--basically had to break it up to eat it. the scones were good, but small. we went for the tea that included 'savories'. they cost $3 more, and were about a 2' square thin piece of quiche. the rest of the food was adequate, but not inspiring. the only thing we really liked was the chance to smell the different teas so we could pick one we liked without having to rely on a written description. overall, if you're looking for a fun, playful tea adventure, my advice is to go elsewhere.

My husband and I visited earlier this month while on vacation. We decided to drive a short distance out of the way, and are so glad that we did. What a wonderful place. We had full tea, and it was delightful. The service was great and we had the pleasure of speaking with the owner. No wonder it has such great reviews and is the #2 in Va. Being a tearoom owner myself from Tn. it was a 'treat' to be seated and waited on in such grand style.

We visited this morning to celebrate my daughter's 4th birthday. She has barely been able to wait until she was a 'big girl' and could have a 'tea party'. Despite having great local area tea rooms in Fredericksburg, we decided to venture to Culpeper with our restaurant.com certificate. It was definitely worth the drive!

I was quite nervous about also taking my 2 year old, but after reading the other reviews we chanced it and found it quite kid friendly and accommodating. Since it was on a Tuesday, we were the only patrons there. My girls loved the dress up area and could've stayed there all day. The only recommendation I would make would be to add feather boas (and lace) to the collection.

I had decided to try the Mids-summer Night's Dream tea after looking at the menu online, but it was out due to the busy Mother's Day weekend. I went with the Iced Wine Tea and was not disappointed. My mother and I ordered the tea for two and my daughters both had the Wee Tea (served with lemonade). The birthday girl loved my tea so much that next time I think she'll get her own pot. The egg salad was so good that I would LOVE it if the owner would reply with the recipe. Everything was delicious, but I would certainly not leave without trying the lemon curd.

I would describe the atmosphere as romantic whimsical. If we lived closer we would definitely come more often, but are happy to make Tea, Lace, and Roses one of the birthday traditions in the childhoods on my little girls. They certainly loved to be fancy for a day. The birthday girl was surprised with a round of 'happy birthday' and her own little rose-shaped cake. It couldn't have been more perfect if we had scripted it. Thanks for the wonderful memory!

We often visit this wonderful establishment, and I just had to write to let everyone know that they should stop by the next time you're near Culpeper!

Julie and Pat are wonderful hosts, and I'm so glad that they've taken over this wonderful tea house. It's charming, without being too 'frilly or girly'. But of course, there is a dress-up room if you like to wear hats and baubles while drinking their fine teas.

The food is delicious, and the tea for two provides a pleasant variety of savory and sweet. The apricot scone was soft and buttery!

I highly recommend this place to anyone that would like a nice afternoon of relaxation and tea.

Absolutely fabulous! You definitely have a repeat customer in myself, my daughter and my mother. We came for a tea party for my daughter's 5th birthday. The day was made extra special by the attention that was given to her - from dressing up in the dressing room to having her own little pot of tea. The staff even made her a birthday cake!

We didn't feel rushed at all and my daughter was made to feel like she was queen for the day. All of our questions were answered about the wide variety of teas available. The tea sandwiches were delicious and the 'wee tea' for my daughter was excellent.

3 of my friends and I had the full English tea this past Tuesday. The tea started off with a scone which puzzled us so we asked why it was served first. We were told it was their tradition which was fine with us. The food was excellent as was the tea. I personally don't like flavored teas with food which is why I don't frequent the local tearoom in my city. All of us at tea that day are great tea aficionados and we were all quite pleased with our full English tea. It had been quite some time since our last visit. Hopefully we will be returning soon.

The dress up room and the tea and scones are WONDERFUl. However, the tea for two food was AWFUL. The chicken salad had wonderful flavoring, but the chicken itself tasted like it came from a can. The raw mushroom with spinach dip was bitter. The quiche cup was cold. The cucumber topping tasted like it was capers mixed with a sweet pepper of sorts. I was SO disappointed. The dessert (and only one) was dry pumpkin bread that tasted like it was at least a day old. If you decide to visit. GET the tea and a scone. Skip out on the tea for two or anything more. Have fun dressing up and take lots of pictures.

I had tea at your tea room on October 22nd. I came as a guest of a friend and had no real expectations except for a nice luncheon in a tea room. My vist turned out to be a fantastic experience. The tea room atmosphere was wonderful, we enjoyed the dressing room, the tea and the food were outstandingly delicious and even though this tea room is 1 1/2 hour drive from my home I plan to return. Thank you so much ladies for a fabulous afternoon.

I can't say enough about this wonderful tea room. Five of us had tea there this past Saturday. Our reservations were at 12:30. I arrived about 12:40 and the other four did not arrive till 2:00 PM due to traffic. We were treated most graciously, I was served a pot of tea before the others arrived, and a bowl of soup on the house.

We were served most graciously despite the late arrival. The food and tea were excellent as was the service.

      We will be back again!

I misplaced the Tea Map web address, and just found it so my review is way past due. A couple of months ago I visited Tea Lace & Roses with a couple of friends. It was the first visit for 2 of us, and the other recommended the visit based on a great previous experience. We had the full English Tea, and loved everything, especially the cinnamon chip scones. It's also nice to be able to purchase the teas you enjoy the most and have them at home. A lovely way to spend an afternoon. We'll see you again. Thanks!

Tea, Lace & Roses is a charming, cozy tearoom and, as always, I enjoyed my recent visit immensely! The owner, Joan, is as gracious a hostess as she is knowledgeable about teas. I highly recommend the Ambrosia tea and the chicken salad is wonderful! I can't say enough about the scones...lavender, most recently...fantastic! The decor is lovely, the soft music is delightful and the 'dress up' room is so much fun! Thank you, once again Joan, for a fabulous time!

I went with my aunt to Tea, Lace, and Roses as my 20th birthday gift, as well as on our ever continual quest to find good Tea Rooms. Tea, Lace, and Roses is without a doubt one of the top tearooms we have ever been to. The service, the food, the decor, and of course, the tea was far above expectations. Even the shop contained one of the best selections of tea paraphernalia I have ever encountered. Truly wonderful, I will most definitely be coming back. :)

Tea, Lace and Roses has to be one of the 'best' tea rooms my tea friends and I have had the chance to visit. To begin with, we were greeted at the door by the owner and welcomed to the tea room. The atmosphere was like being in a cozy victorian parlor. After being seated at a lovely laid out table with china tea cups/saucers, we were given a choice of three teas. An almond-coconut herb tea, a lemongrass-mint, green tea and a delicious earl gray cream tea. Our hostess poured our tea and we chose to indulge in the full English Tea. What a 'great decision!' Warm lavender scones were served first along with homemade clotted cream & a yummy raspberry curd (which is sold in the shop), followed by a three tier tray offering fresh homemade finger sandwiches (yummy chicken salad), tasty savories and absolutely delicious miniature pastries. (The homemade bread pudding tarts were to die for!) Our hostess was extremely attentive, and we never lacked for fresh tea at our table. After finishing our tea, we were invited to wander the upstairs and back rooms which offered many gift and tea items for sale. Tea, Lace and Roses is a tea room we will be sure to visit many times in the future.

My friend and I drove from Richmond to the nearby Seven Oaks Lavender Farm and after our visit there decided to get lunch.

I remembered reading about a tea room in Culpeper, so we thought we'd try to find it.

The visitor's center directed us to TLR, an easy walk of about two blocks.

We were delighted with our experience there!

We loved the large selection and the fact that the tea was brewed, not in tea bags. The food was delicious, the service attentive and friendly, the decor cozy and relaxing. We perused every corner of the gift shop-terrific selection, something for every pocketbook.

Coming from all reaches of the state, my grandmother, aunts, great-aunts, cousins, and I gathered in Culpeper at Tea, Lace & Roses as a central location to celebrate my 43rd birthday, and to reunite last year! We essentially dominated the front room, happily laughing, oohing and aanhing at the teapots, china, decor, the petit finger sandwiches, and each other! The Tea Room is decorated in an Antique Victorian motif that delights. We visited their back room where they supply patrons with hats, feather boas, and lace gloves, with an antique vanity to admire our transformations. It was like a big-girl's fantasy tea party--and we just loved it. The bamboo tea was exceptional and the scones were to die for! I will be sure to stop in again when in town, and thanks for making my birthday such a memorable, special and unique experience.

Although we had a hard time choosing, I love that you can 'sniff' each tea before deciding which one and there are descriptions of the teas. We had fun trying on hats and boas and took lots of pictures. The food was delightful and yummy. The ambience wonderful. Tea, Lace & Roses is a fun teahouse. Beautifully decorated with lots of character, the teahouse is one of the prettiest ones i've been to. The drive from DC was horrible, as we were stuck in traffic for 3 hours on the 66, but despite our 1 hour lateness we were greeted graciously. The teahouse is quite small and narrow, one side of the teahouse is the tearoom and the other is a small gift shop. We were seated at the back near the 'dress-up' room, a room filled with boas, hats, jewelry, gloves for the guests to wear while drinking their tea. The server brought us a large tray with their selections of teas in spices jars. This is their tea sample/list. We thought this was a clever way to help people decide on which tea to choose as you can unscrew the tops to sniff the teas. They must have had at least 50 different kinds. My husband and I ended up ordering the Tea for Two for $30. The food is served on a three tiered tray and we got bottomless pots of tea as well. We got one large chicken salad croissant sandwich (split in half), two scones, two halves of a baked cherry tomato, two cucumber sandwiches and two tuna fish sandwiches. To be honest, other than the chicken croissant, the rest of the food was quite unmemorable, crusts not cut up properly, the selection of desserts unexciting, the scones were as flat as a cookie(albeit warm) and the lemon curd was quite gooey. We enjoyed our surroundings and the staff was very nice and attentive but I think we will not be revisiting the teahouse for the average selection and quality of food.

I have a daughther getting married this fall and we didn't want a 'traditional' wedding shower - we wanted something unique. This Tea House offered that experience and it was absolutely WONDERFUL. I doubt I will be able to express how helpful, thoughtful and considerate Joan and Sharon were when we were making arrangements. They worked every detail of this 'Bridal Tea' to make it the most exquisite and delicious experience for our 27 guests. The decor of Tea, Lace and Roses is very fashionable! From the menu 'English Tea' was selected for our guests and a couple of 'Wee Tea's' for the children. Both had excellent presentation, the scones were wonderful, assorted finger sandwiches and savories were delectable! The desserts melted in your mouth. I could go on about the food, but alas the tea was the reason the establishment was selected - I don't think I can recall the number of teas we were offered to select from and smell! There were so many offered, the choice was difficult. The tea selections made for our occasion were: Darjeeling, Earl Grey, White Tip Oolong and Temple of Heaven. Sharon made the occasion special by demonstrating her knowledge of the teas that were selected and on tea etiquette. She is quite charming, an excellent conversationalist and very knowledgeable. Joan helped work out all of the finite details...to include rose cupcakes (drizzled with soft pink icing), a champagne toast (from the bridal party) and biscotti dipped in chocolate for our guests! I don't think I could possibly do justice to this establishment in singing it praises. If you enjoy a great cup of tea, served in traditional spirit...in an inviting environment with wonderful hotesses, then you will enjoy Tea, Lace and Roses. We did and we will be back. THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU ~ for making our special occasion as memorable as possible. Special thank you from the Bride-to-be (Earlene) and the Bridal Party (Jackie, Laura and Beth)! IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!

Outstanding warmth, charm, friendly reception and attentive service in cozy if smallish setting. The tea sniffing tray made tea selections easier and fun. The teas tasted better than so many I've ordered from top vendors, i.e. Harneys, Sarum, Grace Rare Teas, etc. The foods were fresh and delicious with the best scones. The quantities served per person for a full afternoon tea of equal quality are a third of that served at Rowena's in Norfolk at a lower price. It would be great if clients could replace undesired edibles with extras of those they truly favor. I will still revisit and bring friends for all the other great attributes of your tea room!

Just loved everything about our recent visit to this tea room! The scones were light and fluffy, not dense bricks as I've had at other tea houses. The full tea included a three-tiered plated variety of yummy treats. My favorites were the cucumber and wasabi-laced cream cheese sandwiches, ham and cheese mini quiches, and everything-in-it bread budding. Delicious! Liked that we got a tea tray to sniff all the teas offered before selecting which one each of us wanted. Great variety unlike some tea houses that only offer two teas. The tea room hostess was a delight to listen to and served us well. We enjoyed the dressing up rooms where we could try on hats and boas to make our tea even more fun. The atmosphere was relaxing and rooms were nicely decorated. We forgot our camera and a disposable one was offered for us to purchase...lucky! We traveled from Northern Virginia for a special Christmas get together and really enjoyed the tea and conversation. Thanks for a lovely time and I'm sure that we will return again soon.

Today was the second time my girlfriend and I visited your lovely tearoom. Both times we were celebrating birthdays and what a great time we both had. The teas were absolutely wonderful, the food delicious and the decor very charming. The service was excellent and the 'dressing up' an added treat. Whenever a special occasion should arise, Tea, Lace & Roses will always be the first place on our list. Thank you for making our celebration in August, and again today, memorable.

This was our third visit to Tea, Lace, & Roses. We celebrated my sister's birthday for the second year in a row. It was a very rainy Saturday but the drive out from Fredericksburg was worth it. The food was wonderful and we enjoyed all three varieties of tea we selected. We have also celebrated my daughter's birthday here. We will definitely make a return visit. Karen 10-8-05

My friend Brenda & I heard about your tea room from a friend. We made reservations for Aug 20th and looked forward to it all week. We were not disappointed; from the time we entered the door at Tea, Lace & Roses we felt welcomed. The Tea demonstation was remarkable, and the food was delicious and elegantly served. The dress up area is also nice for the young and the young at heart. This is the best Tea Room I have had the pleasure to visit since leaving Florida and being a regular at Lavender N Lace in Lake Alfred. Thank you also, Sharon for sharing one of your recipes, that was very sweet of you. Your personal touch makes your tea room even more inviting. What a great way to enjoy the company of a friend for a beautiful Sat afternoon.

My friend and I are making a tour of local tearooms, a project that has been ongoing for several years. Tea, Lace & Roses is one of my favorites. We had such a lovely time there last weekend. I've already recommended it to three friends since then! They have a wonderful menu -- the pre-tea wine is a great addition -- fantastic savories and desserts (the perfect balance between the two), a very friendly and attentive staff, and an ideal atmosphere for enjoying a totally yummy tea! It was a perfect Saturday outing.

My mother and I found this Tea Room and we are so glad we did. We are regulars and we look forward to the experience of dressing up in their 'dress up room' and tasting the delicious variety of tea and food. The ladies at the Tea Room are very gracious and are very accepting of my mother’s guide dog who accompanies us. They even have had doggie treats waiting for him.I would highly recommend this Tea Room.

Our monthly tea group visited Tea, Lace & Roses 6/14/05. Beginning with a most unique 'tea-sniffing,' this parlour topped all the teas we've thus far enjoyed. Sharon's grace and style were matched only by impeccable service and an outstanding assortment of goodies offered in the full English luncheon tea. A+++

We are a group who 'go to tea' once a month, and all agree TEA, LACE & ROSES is the best yet. The food was excellent with a great variety. Service couldn't have been better. We'll be back! Beverley 6/15/05

My Red Hat Group met here for tea recently and absolutely loved it! The service was outstanding and the variety of food was delightful. The group loved the opportunity to select their own flavor of tea. Kudos to Tea, Lace and Roses - you can tell the staff cares about their tearoom.

Talk about atmosphere! My daughter brought me to Tea, Lace & Roses for my 59th birthday and we just giggled like the little girls at heart we are. Our hostess brought us the most beautiful afternoon tea assortment. I'm still dreaming about those splendid scones and clotted cream with raspberry jelly. Yum! Thanks for a memorable lovely day.
