Food:  I have been to 'High Tea' in London and in Victoria, Canada. While I understand it would be hard to duplicate here, I was expecting something at least similar. I wish I had read these reviews first, because I took my sister for her first time. The 'tea' was hot water that we poured ourselves over tea bags. The mediocre food was served on a lunch plate for each of us. Most of the desserts were pretty good and served on a nice two-tiered platter, but were straight from Sam's. For $20 a plate, I expected far more. And then they added a 20% gratuity for two people! I won't be going back. |

Food:  I wish that I had read these reviews before I made reservations and visited Mittie's with friends. I hosted several friends for a Valentines tea, and I am so embarassed that I chose Mittie's for their first tea experience. We felt like inconveniences as soon as we walked in the door. The hostess was rude to us and her staff. The tea selection was poor and I could have served a better selection and treated my friends with better customer service if I had hosted them in my home. There was nothing exceptional about Mittie's except the unbelievable rudeness with which we were treated. It was totally overpriced and they will certainly never get our business again. I will make it a point to tell all of my friends not to waste their time at Mittie's unless it becomes under new management. |

Food: Charged an 18% gratuity for 2 person party when menu stated charge was for 5 persons or more--the manager did not acknowledge the mistake, but offered an evasive response. There was a separate charge for tea even though tea service was supposed to include tea. Manager was rude and belligerent when this was mentioned. Staff was in jeans and t-shirts. The interior looked run-down and shabby. We overheard other customers complaining about the service as well. Food was not fresh or homemade. It tasted fine but for $20 a plate, was really sparse. I wouldn't visit again. I would recommend getting tea elsewhere. |
