Overview
We opened the doors of Mrs. Bridges Pantry on a cold December morning in 1992. Both having been born in England and now living in the States, we discovered that we both envisioned opening a 'British' shop in the region. The first shop was literally a pantry, just a few shelves tucked away inside the only multi-dealer antique shop in downtown Putnam, Connecticut at that time. Opening only on Saturdays and Sundays, we offered a limited selection of British foods, that we thought would only sell to the small British population in the area.

We soon realized that Americans also appreciated what Britain had to offer. So much so, in fact, that five moves later, Mrs. Bridges Pantry has become a regional destination for those both British in blood and spirit. Our store now offers a wide selection of British foods, teas, books, greeting cards, kitchen items and gifts.
We serve a very British menu in our snug tearoom, including homemade jam and clotted cream, baked beans on toast, steak and kidney pies, ploughman's and tea sandwiches. The shop is open daily, except Tuesdays and is located in the Quiet Corner of Connecticut and is now located on Rt 169 in South Woodstock, Connecticut just across the street from the Woodstock Fairgrounds.

Variety: My friend Cindy and I had a lovely time at Mrs. Bridges. The tea was vey nice and stayed hot throughout our meal with their stainless steel tea pot and cozie. The food was good and fresh and the lemon square I took home to my husband almost didn't make it there after sampling a bite in the car! The server was very friendly and made our visit pleasurable. |

Variety: The staff are very knowledgeable about teas and offer excellent personal recommendations. Wonderful quiet atmosphere with soft music, warm lights, and a smiling clientele. I go every time I'm in the area and I have never left unsatisfied. |

Variety: I have been here several times and also when it was located in another location in CT. It is a true English tearoom with a true English lady running it. Its great fun and she has a variety of item to purchase as well. |
