Thanks Erin, we just love Mary and her team! My son lives in London currently, and he was very blessed to have visited your homeland, Scotland, recently. He wrote to us that it was gorgeous and the photos he sent proved it!

We were with Terri too, and I had to comment on the chicken rice soup. This was the most flavorful and fragrant soup ever! I asked Mary for the recipe, but she just smiled and said, 'Let me know when you are coming back and I'll have some ready for you'. Such a sweet lady, you should be happy to have her! I'm from Canada and this was a super nice tearoom.

Yes, we are very blessed to have Mary who creates the soup and scones recipes. She says they are confidential but will make your favorite if you let her know ahead of time!

Is there a higher rating than 'Excellent'? You all really put on a Royal Tea. There was so much food, we took some home. The chicken rice soup, I understand Mary made right there, was the best I've ever tasted. The sandwiches were wonderful and very, very fresh! The tea selection of loose teas, was overwhelming. It was difficult to choose which one to begin with. I know that Janice will not reduce the number of offerings, but there are soooo many!
Thanks again, Mary for such a fine afternoon.
- Barbara 07/06/08

tearoom response
Thank you for your kind compliments, Barbara! We take great pride in our tearoom and gift shop. But, I have to admit that Mary makes most of the decisions for the food flavors. And, you are right, :) I don't want to reduce the number of teas we offer.

Thanks so much for your post.

My gosh, everything was devine. I throughly enjoyed my visit last week. The scones are light but just right, between a cake and a biscuit. They were ample size and the tea...was fantastic. I'm so glad you use the delicious loose teas, from the very finest vendors. I could really tell the difference--it was absolutely delicious. The server, Mary was just a joy, and provided the finest service one could ask for. Thank you for such an outstanding tea. We will be back soon.

Thanks Terri, it is nice to hear compliments when we really do try very hard to make our afternoon teas memorable and delicious! Mary decides on the flavor combinations of the scones and some of the soups. I think in July we are serving our 'Peach Soup'...it's terrific, made from fresh local peaches. Thanks again, for taking the time to send us your throughts.

I loved everything about this tea room and I can't wait to wear my new hat that I bought there. This is now my #1 tea room and I am looking forward to going there again. On June 28th, we had a wonderful afternoon of tea in the beautiful atmosphere os Picadilly's Tearoom. We enjoyed a relaxing afternoon of friendship as well as a 7-course afternoon tea that included soup, salad, tea sandwiches, desserts, and a huge selection of teas. We took Mary's advice and ordered a variety to share. Everything was delicious. She is quite an accomplished chef! The gift shop added to the atmosphere and excitement of the day. This tearoom has moved to first place on my list.

Ladies,
I had the pleasure of attending Tea at your lovely tea room on Saturday March 15 nth.
I must tell you this was the finest Tea I had ever been to and I have been to quite a few teas in the Tri State area.
I was so pleased with the food and the teas.
The soup that we had there was quite delicious, some of our group had Italian Wedding soup that they raved about, but our table had some soup with tortellini that was so fabulous.
I know this is a long shot but is there any chance you would share either the recipe or the place to purchase this fabulous soup?
Thank you again for the wonderful event. I look forward to returning.
Sincerely,

Although the tea was excellent and the food fresh and tasty, we will not be returning to this tearoom. Even a couple of miscues could have been overlooked. The first when our group arrived the hostess was surprised to see us stating that we had called and cancelled our reservation. When we assured her that we hadn't cancelled she at first insisted we had but then stated that it wasn't a problem and she would see that our tea was prepared. We were then seated at our table and a few minutes later another group was seated. Although we were the only two groups in the tearoom, we were seated right next to each other when there was another large table available across the room. In fact, we were the only two sets of customers there. As I said these miscues are not the reason we will not be retu... (more)

I don't know where that group was sitting, but my group had a fabulous time. Mary and Lisa were wonderful and we ASKED for more toppings and received them immediately. I usually don't speak up, but this was a terrific tea.

There were 4 savouries, not 3 and when visiting tearooms, it is plain RUDE not to cancel a reservation.

I forgot to mention in my earlier post that Picadilly's automatically adds a 20 percent tip to the cost of their full tea, regardless of the number of people in the party - so that actually brings the cost to $30 per person. I believe a tip is an additional 'thank you' or incentive that must be earned by the servers and the establishment, not automatically added to the bill regardless of the quality of the service. Another reason I will not be back.

i attended the thanksgiving tea w/ jennifer & i had a very enjoyable tea (i had been to picadillys once before). food was delicious but i agree with the clotted cream/lemon curd comment, & not enough. to me, what was given for the table of 4 was only enough 1. also, i agree that tea sandwiches were on the conservative side. i was disappointed with the 'rush' to leave, staff handing out bills, clearing tables, and my table was not served the last course, sorbet. i was the one that had a reservation and wanted to cancel one. i called 8 days prior to event, which the paper i received in the mail for the event did not address the issue of cancellations/refunds at all. i was not even given the courtesy of a return call which of the three msgs i left, i gave my home & work numbers. needless to say, i will not be returning to picadilly's.

I also attended the Thanksgiving tea on Saturday. Jennifer's talk gave you something to think about. I agree with the comment that the plates the lemon curd was served on were way to small, we had lemon curd on the table. We had a small problem with reservations, reservations had been made but one had to cancel, a message was left a week prior to our tea with a return phone number but a return phone call was never received. On the web site it is stated that cancellations can be placed 3 days prior to an event but when it came time to pay they would not honor that cancellation stating cancellations are not excepted for special events, but that is not stated on website anywhere and the meal had to be paid for, it was not professional nor customer friendly not to return a phone message left a week prior to the event.

I attended the Thanksgiving tea yesterday and had been looking forward to my visit as I have heard and read so many good things about this new tea room. Jennifer's talk about the first Thanksgiving was warm and wonderful, giving us all much to think about. I was a little surprised that the owner never came out to introduce herself or welcome us to the tea room. On the positive side, the decor is beautiful, the wait staff was very friendly, and the food was very tasty. Going to tea is an indulgence I don't give myself very often, so my biggest pet peeve is spending alot of money for a 'full tea' and leaving hungry. My pot of tea was just lukewarm, the lemon curd was served on a tiny plate with a perforated edge which allowed half the lemon curd to ooze out onto the table, and there was... (more)

Our Red Hat Outing at Piccadilly's Tearoom on Saturday, August 25th, 2007 was excellent. Our group, the Scarlet O'Hatters of Reisterstown, consisted of 13 ladies. I believe I can speak for all of us when I say everything was great. I'm sure we'll return as a group, or individually. The gift shop was well stocked with so many beautiful items, and the Red Hat Bazaar next door had the largest inventory compiled of very unique and exciting selections...including many Pink Hat accessories. Hello, I had a delightful afternoon tea with my red hat group. There was, a group of women in the upper section that were quite rude. Actually the one woman sounded like she was British. She was very rude to Mary and especially Lisa. She was so nasty that she made Lisa cry. I have been to your wonderful establishment several times and it is absolutely PERFECT in every way!

This ill bred woman certainly did not represent her country very well and certainly showed her lack of breeding.
