I went for lunch because a friend of mine said that they used 'Little Women' as the theme for this tearoom. I am very fond of that book. I LOVED it. I tried a Jo's Smorgasbord and there was so much to tase and try! Everyone who works there is cheerful, helpful and kind. Everyday a different scone and clotted cream. This is a place to make memories and traditions. I can only think that previous reviewers had a bad day when they gave low marks to this place. I have been to Great Britain many times. When I go...I always set out to find the best scones in the are. Now they are right around the corner! Give yourself a treat. Visit this tearoom.

My mother and I have been to every tea room in the Chicago-land area. And I must say this was the VERY best. The price seemed a little high for a high tea but you will NEVER believe the amount of food you will receive. On past tea experiences I left hungry and wanting more. Today we all left stuffed and never have we received such a selection. They started with a lovely fruit cocktail then brought out huge and moist scones. Then the three tier tray arrived. Oh my goodness! There must have seven or eight different sandwiches a vegi quiche, strawberries and five different desserts! We all ordered a different tea and we all were offered and taken up on refills. Not only have you made clients for life I can’t wait to bring all our “tea” buddies to the ONE and ONLY place to go for tea! Thanks for a wonderful afternoon!

Recently my neighborhood women's group went to the tearoom for high tea and it was the most delightful experience. The tea selections was large but not overwhelming and the staff was so knowledge able about all of them. The food was amazing and the attention to detail in each tea sandwich was something you don't find in just any tearoom. I was also really impressed that all the desserts are made on the premises-- no wonder they taste so good. I would also like to note that our servers were very attentive to us and everyone else who was in the tearoom that day. The women in the few previous reviews must have reviewed the wrong tea room on accident because what they described was defiantly not the pickwick. I would encourage everyone to visit the pickwick. We will defiantly be back -- we already have reservations in the end of July and I can't wait.

I have enjoyed visiting this tearoom regularly over the past 18 months, but my past two experiences were very disappointing. I guess the place just got busy and forgot how to take care of its customers. The last time I went with my family, we were not offered the second tea that we were promised which was very disappointing. In addition, the food is no longer served in courses; they just placed everything on the table at the beginning. Several of us finished our one little pot of tea before our food, and we left the tea thirsty.

This was my fourth visit to the tea room with my sisters and nieces, 10 of us in all. Past visits had been very plesant. Our last visit on a Saturday near Mother's Day was most disappointing. We had a reservation for and expected the High Tea we had previously experienced, a lovely liesurely tea service with alternating food and teas courses. Instead, we waited a long time for our first tea, and then all of our food courses were dropped at our table at one time, with an explanation that some recent customer had complained that their conversation had been interrupted, and so the service was changing. Upon inquiring about further tea selections, we were told we would have only 1 opportunity to change teas. We had to seek out a server for this second selection. One of my favorite ite... (more)ms of the past was the lemon curd with scones, no lemon curd was served with our scones. After we inquired about lemon curd we were brought enough for 1 scone. Our entire experience was on this occasion was very disappointing. Not sure why we were treated in this manner, but surely did not feel very welcome and are not encouraged to return.

Our party was there the weekend before Mothers Day...with reservations months in advance. They double booked us, thru no fault of our own, we compromised and made our reservation earlier---we are REPEAT CUSTOMERS---having been to a 'high tea' here before we had anticipated the food and tea for weeks. We were informed after waiting far too long...that they had changed their tea service to what I could call 'drop and run' not to mention you no long get to alternate teas. Once the food was dropped off, we had to go and find a server to get anything else we needed. We were definitely not the priority that day. Having been there before I really felt as though our being there was quite the inconvenience, and you chose a large party ($$) over your loyal customers. I also attempted to contact you... (more) several times the week leading up to the reservation, but you did not have the courtesy to return my emails nor my phone calls; I am sure because you didn't want to tell us about the 'drop and run' change in service or that our party wasn't that important to you. I have to say that I once loved your tea room, and I feel my family of 10 helped make you the #1 tea room in the state, but Cindy you did us wrong, and we will find another tea because of it.

My friend and I traveled a great distance to try out 'Illinois' #1 TeaRoom'. While everything was fine, we were in no way overly impressed. Walking in we felt like it was very 'Grandma's Kitchen', quaint. The server was very nice and pleasant, food was good-but mostly sweet; we felt like we needed more savory items. It would have been nice to have a choice of desserts, versus just a sampler of the breads/cookies/cake. The tea room complimented the surrounding shopping

The place is just charming. I don't know what I expected, but I was very thrilled. We were seated out on the porch which was such a lovely and very private area. Very conducive to chatting, which is what my girlfriend and I went there to do. Sometimes a busy Restaurant is just not conducive to chatting. Do not go here if you are in a hurry. Nothing about this place is done in a hurry. The food was different ( at least to me ) and very tasty. The tea was steeped to perfection. It was drinkable upon pouring and all you need was a touch of sweet to round out the flavor. Doesn't make much sense to drown a tea in half and half or cream. My girlfriend and I split Meg's delightful savory plate and the quiche of the day, as we wanted to sample as much as we could. There was 1 sandwich i... (more)n particular, it was thinly sliced apples, with Brie cheese on cinnamon swirl toast.... It was to die for... and I am not a Brie cheese lover. The pomegranate White Tea was excelent. Never ending pot of tea is just what it is. My friend and I each had 2 pots, and could have had 2 more, but we needed to get going. We did however regret not getting a little something sweet. That was our own fault however.

I was looking forward to having a proper cup of tea at Pickwick Society, but was vastly disappointed. The atmosphere was fine, albeit cutesy, the food was decent, but the tea seemed to be hardly steeped, and it's proper to be served milk with your tea, not disposable packets of half and half. I thought I was going to the best tea room in Illinois, not a chintzy diner.

I never was a tea drinker until my mother and I stopped in at The Pickwick Tea Room. I love the all the white teas and a few of the blacks. It all depends on what you are in a mood for, but the service was helpful by directing me to the testers so I can smell the teas. All the teas are loose leaf, but they put them in bags as well so you can a single cup. The prices are very reasonable. If it is your first time I recommend a High Tea or the Jo's, that way you have a chance to try a little of everything. The cookies are the best!

It was a 30 mile drive, but on a lovely day we wanted to chreck it out. Past reviews sounded outstanding.
Depending on what one expects this tearoom was an utter disappointment.
Large variety of teas, but we had to wait at least 25 minutes before it was served. Yes, we had reservations for afternoon tea, so no excuse.
Sandwiches only fair. Chicken salad served on a hard croissant, never heard of a lemon curd sandwich, that's usaually reserved for scones.
The lemon lavender scone was goos but faux devon cream served. You could taste the sour cream.
Pastries : on eggnog tea bread, cashew cookie, shortbread cookie & pomegranate cookie. No little pastries.
I would not go back.

It was the first time that my mom, sister and I ever went to a tea room and I'm so glad we picked this one! We decideed to have the Marmee's afternoon tea, which was delightful! We really liked the very informative tea presentation, which helped us decide on which teas to choose, since there are so many teas - all loose leaf teas (no tea bags here!) ranging from black teas to white teas, with rooibos' and mate's in the mix of them all. Didn't know much about all these teas until now! We really enjoyed taking the time to pick the type of tea to accompany our finger sandwiches and desserts - which by the way, were delicious (and could not have done that without their informative tea presentation). My mom, myself, and some of her friends celebrated her birthday with high tea. I have experienced high tea several different places in downtown Chicago, and this place truly puts them to SHAME! Cindy, the owner of the tea shop personally sat down with me a few days prior to select a menu for the event, and give me her advice on seasonal delights. There are 3 courses, where you get to pick 12 different food items from nearly 100 choices...and that is just the food! High tea started with the owner personally giving us a seminar on EACH of the nearly 20 teas (a brief history or cute story on each, how it’s grown, which food it might nicely match up with, if better served iced or hot, etc.), and then passed the loose tea around for us to smell before selecting. Every person was able to pi... (more)ck a different tea with each course; that’s 3 different pots of tea per person. The tea was served in a unique cup, saucer and pot, and no two cups were alike at the table. We had a great time, the atmosphere was comfortably elegant and inviting, and as a bonus we left there smarter about tea in general. Did I also mention we definitely did NOT leave there hungry? The food and sweets were as delicious as the teas. This is a unique, quaint, treasure in the Suburbs, and a must visit!

Took by daughter and grandaughter there last Sat. They were in from Wisc. We were all quite impressed. Appreciated the history and explanation of the teas that we were being served, etc. Pleasant atmosphere. Excellent selections of teas. Would highly recommend Pickwick.

Wish this place was closer to home, took my Grandma for her Birthday and we loved it. Quality service, tea, and food. Large selections of iced and hot tea and great knowledge on what they were brewing. The fingersandwiches were wonderful as well as the scones. My reconmendation is the wild blueberry white iced tea and the hot vanilla chai black/red tea. You have to try the chicken salad sandwich!! Will go back sometime soon, highly recommended!!!

Having Just had 'Afternoon Tea' at the Drake last week, I am once again impresseed by the quality of the tea service at the Pickwick. The Pickwick gives you an enormous selection for both sweets and savory as well as generous proportions of both. You get to use real china (not the thick resaurant fare) and the tea itself is delicious. Service there is promp, yet not pushy and the ambience is very homey and comfortable. I could not imagine a better place for a special day out or even just a casual cup to sit and sip while reading a book or catcing up with friends.

I was in at the Pickwick today and had the most wonderful apricot muffin top accompanied with a pomegranate white tea that the staff suggested. The whole experience was just divine. I’m still upset I didn’t buy some muffin tops to bring home, and I can’t wait to see what is new baked good they have next week.

I go to the Pickwick Tearoom at least once a week and the food, tea, and service are excellent. It is the best tearoom i have ever been to. I highly recommend it to everyone. It is a great place to bring friends for tea and to talk. It is really a lovely place to go.

Today was my third visit this summer and each has been fabulous. The chicken salad is the best I have ever had and the sweets out of this world. Friendly, cute and great selection.

Friendly, charming house with wonderful proprietress and great baker! The orange scones were delicious...the clotted cream and the jam were hardly necessary!

What a nice place! Recently had lunch with friends and tried the Megs Savory plate. The sandwiches were delicious, my favorite the lime curd and cream cheese. Others in our group had the Lauries chicken salad and Jo's tea for one. So many flavors of iced tea, hard to choose one but loved the ginger peach. This is a great place to feel relaxed and pampered.

THANK YOU, TRACI HOWELL! What a gift!--19 different loose leaf teas impeccably described and sniffed!
Suggestions were made for pairing with each of the afternoon tea courses. It was a delightful way to spend an afternoon with friends in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
