I've been to the Royal Tea Room on many occassions and can honestly say I have never been disappointed. From its warm atmosphere, friendly customer service and delicious delicacies it is a pure delight.

Not to be outdone is the wide selection of teas and tea cups from which to choose. Its worth a special trip, a fantastic gift and a wonderful treat for yourself

The Royal Tea Room is a local favorite of mine. This past weekend I had a mother/daughter tea there and like my past experiences walked away ready to plan my next tea there. Service is always friendly, food delicious and tea out of this world!

I love the whole atmosphere, the old home with the antiques makes you feel like you are having a proper high tea and I always feel very 'ladies who lunch' there.

It's a great place for a special event or just because. Thank you for keeping the Spirit of the Afternoon Tea alive and in La Plata!

I attended the 'Royal Tea' and had a great time. The service was friendly and informative, the selection of teas was good, and the presentation was well done. I enjoyed selecting my own tea cup as well This is not the first time I have been at the Royal Tea Room and it certainly will not be the last! I recommend this spot to all my friends and family.

I took my sister here for her birthday. I had previously been here before, so I knew she was in for a treat. To say that we enjoyed ourselves is an understatement. The quality of service, the food, selection of teas, and the family friendly atmosphere were commendable! A big THANK YOU to Dee and her staff again!

This is THE BEST Tea Room!! Our party of 4 came for lunch, then made reservations for a Royal Tea the very next weekend!! We loved the food and the service! The prices in the gift/antique store were shockingly LOW! LaPlata has a GEM of a Tea Room! Thanks Dee for your great quality and service!

Have only had time so far to shop the wonderful antiques/vintage gallery upstairs from the tearoom. There is a wonderful selection of items there and the tea room staff were generous with their help and willingness to answer questions. I'll be back to try the tea room out soon (and shop the upstairs again)!

This quaint tearoom invites the customer to relax with a good cup of tea in a lovely setting. The loose tea is brewed to order. Our party of six enjoyed lunch in an unhurried manner. The portions even satisfied the gentlemen in our party. Afterwards, browsing through the antique shop completed our trip back in time. It was a special touch to meet the owner, Dee. I do plan to visit again soon.

Dee and her staff are outstanding! We hosted my daughters 3rd birthday party with 7 little ladies ages 1+ - 5 and 7 moms. The food was exceptional, the atmosphere festive and the service warm and inviting!! For most of us this was our first experience at the Royal Tea Room, but it will not be our last. Thank you Dee and staff for helping us to have a wonderful birthday party!

We are so lucky to have a tea room of this quality so close to home. Teas, hot and iced, are always wonderfully prepared and served. It is especially fun to select you own tea cup and then enjoy time with a small or larger groups of friends or co-workers. Food is fresh and desserts are yummy. I often buy tea to take home.

The atmosphere at this tearoom was quite traditional and cute from what I had heard. The service was excellent along with the full course meal. This was my first experience with a tearoom and I plan to come back.

I have not been here in two years. Today I took a group of ten. They told me that they are not usually open on Father's Day, but would open for us. They were wonderful to us. The food is better than I remembered, and some things were added. I had first timers with us, and they loved the experience. This tea house should be 'numero uno'.

The waitress was wonderful serving a party of 10. The pace of food delivery was excellent. Each course was as tasty as the other. The crab super was out of this world. The ONLY thing I didn't care for was the cardon blue appitizer. It was a little dry and didn't have enough substance. The Tearoom was exceptionally clean. I loved the various tea cups and plates used for serving the food. I'll definitely be back.

My daughter and I drove almost an hour and a half after reading the wonderful reviews on Royal Tea. We were not disappointed. Dee, the owner and our server, was pleasant and hospitable and ensured our needs were met. The selection of teas were excellent, although I only wanted basic black tea. The food was delicious (warm scones!) and the decor was appealing. We also enjoyed the background music. After tea, we took our time to look through the gift shop and made several purchases. We plan to return.

It's been a few months since I last dined at The Royal Tea Room so we (a party of four) decided to go there for lunch yesterday. Needless to say our visit there was exceptional. We had a wonderful, leisurely lunch and the food, service and atmosphere couldn't have been better. I love this place and Dee and her staff makes you feel right at home. Five Stars to The Royal Tea Room!!!!

Dee and her staff have always created the finest experience for me at the Royal Tea Room. It is cosy, charming and whimsical. True to form, the birthday tea for my mother was outstanding. The cream of crab soup was heavenly and the salad more than ample, the sandwiches, savory and sweet selections perfect. My mom is a coffee drinker, but after her pot of fruit-infused tea, she's now a convert! And just when I thought my favorite cranberry scones were never to be outdone, our minced fruit scones were a touch of perfection. I purchased some to take home to my husband! Make sure The Royal Tea Room is a regular treat for you.

The Royal Tea Room is fantastic. We had a wedding shower there with twenty women ages 8 to 80 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the tea (Wedding tea of course!), the food and the ambiance. Everything was meticulously prepared from the scones to the sandwiches and the lovely desserts. The cream of crab soup was a real crowd pleaser. The owner (Dee) and her staff are marvelous and extremely accommodating. This is a lovely setting for any function. Be sure to visit the upstairs shops filled with antiques and collectibles.

Poor MJS from Mother's Day -- With all the fabulous reviews (mine included) it appears that the fault may lie with you, the customer, and not with the waitstaff. We went to the same 3pm seating you are referring to and it was wonderful. It ran smoothly and the food was to die for. What time did you arrive for a 3pm tea if you came back inside at 2:30? Perhaps you should arrive at the time of your reservation and you would be a lot less miserable.

It is always a treat when my husband or daughters take me to the Royal Tea Room. This past Mother's Day was no exception. The atmosphere, wonderful tea and food, and the friendliness of the servers was exceptional. The 3pm tea on Sunday did get started a little late, but it was clear the staff was busily preparing the rooms for our arrival and the wait was well worth it. I loved the Passion Mango Tea and the crab soup was terrific, as usual. The scones were to die for and I thought the selection of the savories and desserts was super.
I think the three young ladies who served at the tea were great. They seated about 10 tables at the same time and before you knew it, we were all drinking tea and munching on a fruit plate that was really too pretty to eat. The servers all helped... (more) each other and were very polite and gracious. At one point or other during the tea, each one had visited our table, brought something, or inquired if we needed anything. At the end, the owner even visited our table. To me, that says a lot about the quality of the tea room. Not only will I go there again, I will recommend it to all my friends!!

I have been a fan of the Royal Tea Room for two years, now. It is always a delight! The owners, servers and atmosphere are always welcoming and relaxing. Be sure to bring a little extra money to buy that knick knack or piece of jewelry for that special gift to yourself or someone else. Please do not let someone else's poor review of one experience deter you from a visit to LaPlata and the Royal Tea Room.

I have been to the Tea Room on several occasions. I enjoyed it so much that I actually retained their services to host my Engagement Party. The food was nothing short of amazing and the location is top notch. The owner was most accomodating. We had mini chicken cordon bleus, meatballs, macaroni and cheese, green beans, etc. It was out of this world!

Last Sunday, I attended the Mother's Day Tea Service. By definition, a tea service is not a quick event. We anticipated spending the afternoon there, which we did. The food was wonderful, as always. (Kudos to the Cream of Crab!) The Lady Grey tea is now one of my favorites and the scones were too good for words. (The blackberry preserves inside of the scones were absolutely delicious!) I will remain a loyal patron to the Royal Tea Room until I am given a reason to be otherwise, which I don't see happening anytime soon. :)

I attended the Mother's Day Tea Service at the Royal Tea room and thought that it was superb. It was a full house that day and I was very surprised at the way the staff was able to handle such a rush, all beginning at three pm. The soup, scone and fruit plate was amazing. The tray of sandwiches and deserts was nothing short of phenomenal. There that day, I saw that the customer complaining of slow service had also arrived an hour early to the service, after having been given drinks and such outside were still seated earlier than their reservation of three pm. Perhaps that skewed their attitude on the entire event as I thought that everything went well that day. We will most certainly be back again, and we look forward to seeing the nice waitresses that are indeed more than capable of providing service to customers, and eating the wonderful food made by the kitchen.

On mothers Day i took my wife for the tea on mothers day . It was the first time for the both of us for to visit this tea house . the experience that we had was great the tea was good we got to try a few different kinds . the fruit plate was good ,we had both soups the crab and the italian wedding soup and they were great.The foods and treats that they slao served were also good. The leasurly pace and good timing and the execllent service we received made for an great experience for a wonderful after noon with my wife. Thanks for your hard work to make this a great day for us.

This is my third trip to the Royal Tea House. My daughter and I have been each time and the food service has declined on each successive visit. I am going to go into detail in the hopes that the owner will review this and make the necessary adjustments to her tea house and staff.

My daughter made reservations and prepaid for the 3pm Mother's Day Tea. We arrived early, and let them know that we would browse the shop and sit out on the front porch. A young lady said our table would be ready in 15 minutes. We were brought iced tea when we sat on the front porch, however, when it got too cold we went in. We arrived back in the entry room at 2:30. The tea service was for 3pm. At 3:38 a waitress came and asked us what type of tea we would like. She went around to everyone in the front room and asked the same. About 15 minutes later tea was poured for us. No pot was left. I requested lemon. Ten minutes later, I stopped another waitress and asked her for lemon. About the same time the lemon arrived, the waitress made a second round with tea which was good because mine was stone cold from the wait. I asked if she would leave the pot, as that had been out experience in the past and she did bring us our own pot. The first fruit course arrived about 4pm. There was only one plate left for us and we had to stop someone to ask for a plate for my daughter. There was no sugar/sweetener, salt or pepper on the table and we had to ask for that. The soup was brought after that. We both ordered the wedding cake, and it was lukewarm at best with the meatballs cold in the middle. I did not comment on it, since my daughter was already uncomfortable with the service, and clearly embarrassed as she was the host on this occation. But she did ask me about it, and commented that hers was cold also.

THe scones were good but hardly anything to write home about. The sandwich tray had some tasty tidbits, and some that had clearly been sitting out for a while as the croissants were stale and the crab was discolored. The desert dish was good, but once again, hardly worth the wait or the long service that we experienced.

Each course was brought to all tables at the same time and there was no individual service to each table. Perhaps they had been so busy that they ran out of food, or time? It is hard to understand why we had to wait over 30 minutes for our first cup of tea....and had to waid so long between courses.

As much as we have enjoyed our spotty visits to the Tea Room in the past, I think it is time for us to broaden our search.

I wish the owner well as she/he tries to solve the kitchen and staffing problems. Clearly our waitress, Chelsea, I believe, is not suited to service to customers.

My girlfriend and I went their for a Girls Day Out back in March. We had the High Tea. The food was OUTSTANDING! We had four courses and left their so full! The service was superb. I would recommend this tea room to anyone. It was a fantastic experience.

I took my cousin to the Royal Tea Room for a birthday treat. I was very impressed by the service we received. The service and food far surpassed my expectations. I highly recommend The Royal Tea Room.

I really enjoyed my tea, the cream of crab soup and salad. **I highley recommend the cram of crab soup!!! The staff are very friendly.

The Tea experince at this tearoom was excellent. It was a nice ride from the city, easy to find location and wonderful service. They take special care of customers!

This place is great! They have a nice variety of food and tea and their workers there are also kind and patient. Me my mom grammy and best friend went there just this weekend and left remembering a nice time. It's great to recollect thoughts and enjoy company with others. You won't regret going here..it's amazing!

I return frequently to the Royal Tea Room. The food, tea, service and surroundings are exceptional. The owner, Dea Jameson is warm and friendly and so creative - just walking through the house to look at all the lovely accessories (most of which are for sale) is worth the visit. This tea room is at the top of my list - it rivals those I have visited in England!

We made reservations for my nieces birthday the friday of the the 2010 blizzard and the owner stayed open for us, took care of all our needs and did so with exceptional service all while adding some special elements for the birthday girl. Will return in the future and highly recommend this place.

The owner, Dee and the wait staff provided excellent service and information about the teas, the menu options, the items available in their shop upstairs. The cream of crab soup is the best I've ever had and is second only to their crab cake sandwich (Dee you were right - the roll was a perfect match for the crab cake though Laura still prefers the crousant). I highly recommend!

My husband and I stumbled upon this delightful tea room via our GPS restaurant search feature while driving through La Plata. We're delighted to find such a wonderful teahouse. The selection and quality of teas is outstanding. The ambiance is tasteful and there are many interesting paintings on the walls as well as items available for purchase in cabinets along the walls and upstairs. The lunch was fantastic and the desert exceeded our expectations. The delightful owner and hostess took time to chat with us and made us feel welcome. This charming tea house is a must for any tea lover, or anyone who wants a delicious meal in a comfortable, home-like setting with many personal touches.

The Royal Tea Room is wonderful. My husband and I visited today and this bring our firt visit, all I can say is WOW! THe tea was hot and delicious and the food was out of this world. We will plan on returning soon. I plan on telling everyone about this place.

The Royal Tea room was GREAT. I visited with all the ladys in my family (20 of us total) Everything was wonderful from the tea to the food to the staff. I can not wait to return. The Royal Tea room is one of Southern Marylands gems that should be shared with everyone.

This is a wonderful tea room. Very quaint and elegant. The tea service was excellent, there is three different tea services to choose from and the prices are reasonable. The food selection had a wide variety. I had 19 of the women in my family be my guest from ages 13 through 83 and all ages in between and everyone enjoyed it very much. We went in December and the tea selections were holiday blends and they were all wonderfully spiced and flavored.

I took my daughter (4yo) there yesterday for the Princess Tea. It was amazing!!! The food provided for her was VERY kid-friendly and the food for me was amazing! The scones were so good, I had to buy some to take home-and I don't even like scones! I cannot wait to go back!

Wonderful! I recently visited with two friends and we truly enjoyed ourselves. The house was warm and inviting as well as the staff. As we walked in the smell was delicious as well as the food tasted. The variety and quality of food was tremendous! We enjoyed shopping in the gift shop, we found some good deals! I would highly recommend a visit to The Royal Tea Room!

AS a party of 3 we visited the chariming Royal Tea House on Oct 16. It was a rainy cold day and the warmth of this tea house was so inviting.We had 3 pot of wonderful autumn teas. The homemade chicken and rice soup warmed the body. The almond cranberry scone was one of the best I have had. The diversity and amount of tea sandwiches was fanastic -a skewered shrimp coconut encrusted was my favorite along with slamon sald, tuna melt,egg salad,mini quicke,turkey cheese bacon, chicken dordon blue ball and a cheese mixture on pumpernickle. The desserts just finished off a well served and relaxing afternoon. We then spent some time visiting the different ventor spaces on the top level of this charming house. A tea room not to be missed and one I look forward to visiting again.

An AMAZING day at the Royal Tea Room! You must take the time to visit this wonderful and enjoyable Tea Room. My daughter took me there for my birthday along with my mother. It was three generations soaking up incredible memories and drinking teas that we never had. We were greeted by a very pleasant young lady who escorted us over to our table. My mother and I had never been to the Royal Tea Room before, we were both so excited we could hardly wait to walk into the dining room. My mom kept a smile on her face the entire time. She was so happy as she looked around the room, stating over and over again how she felt at home and how inviting the Royal Tea Room was. It's worth the drive from anywhere to experience the food, atmosphere, antiques and collectibles. Every treat was freshl made by Dee, the owner, and served with style by Angela. We enjoyed the Royal Tea and even selected our own tea cups! The scones were exceptional, served with clotted cream and lemon curd. The lunches being served looked equally delicious. The Royal Tea Room should be rated #1-and I've been to the #1. What a find! I can't wait to return.

The Royal Tea Room is exceptional. We had the Royal tea and the food kept coming and coming. Large selection of teas and I tried two teas: the organic plum and white wedding loose teas and properly prepared. Crab soup, salad, scone, savories, sweets, tea--the quality was exceptional and must admit the best tea room I have ever visited and I have been to many. The atmosphere is just charming and relaxing and a good place to catch up with a friend or two over a fabulous meal and cuppa. Terrific gift shop too. I drove 1.5 hours to get here and would definitely do it again. Thank you for a wonderful time.
