Variety: I took my daughter (4yo) there yesterday for the Princess Tea. It was amazing!!! The food provided for her was VERY kid-friendly and the food for me was amazing! The scones were so good, I had to buy some to take home-and I don't even like scones! I cannot wait to go back! |

Variety: AS a party of 3 we visited the chariming Royal Tea House on Oct 16. It was a rainy cold day and the warmth of this tea house was so inviting. We had 3 pot of wonderful autumn teas. The homemade chicken and rice soup warmed the body. The almond cranberry scone was one of the best I have had. The diversity and amount of tea sandwiches was fanastic -a skewered shrimp coconut encrusted was my favorite along with slamon sald, tuna melt, egg salad, mini quicke, turkey cheese bacon, chicken dordon blue ball and a cheese mixture on pumpernickle. The desserts just finished off a well served and relaxing afternoon. We then spent some time visiting the different ventor spaces on the top level of this charming house. A tea room not to be missed and one I look forward to visiting again. |

Variety: An AMAZING day at the Royal Tea Room! You must take the time to visit this wonderful and enjoyable Tea Room. My daughter took me there for my birthday along with my mother. It was three generations soaking up incredible memories and drinking teas that we never had. We were greeted by a very pleasant young lady who escorted us over to our table. My mother and I had never been to the Royal Tea Room before, we were both so excited we could hardly wait to walk into the dining room. My mom kept a smile on her face the entire time. She was so happy as she looked around the room, stating over and over again how she felt at home and how inviting the Royal Tea Room was. My mom and daughter ordered a delicious sandwiches and I had the Royal Tea Package! We ordered three fantastic teas that were exce... (more) |

Variety: It's worth the drive from anywhere to experience the food, atmosphere, antiques and collectibles. Every treat was freshl made by Dee, the owner, and served with style by Angela. We enjoyed the Royal Tea and even selected our own tea cups! The scones were exceptional, served with clotted cream and lemon curd. The lunches being served looked equally delicious. The Royal Tea Room should be rated #1-and I've been to the #1. What a find! I can't wait to return. |

Variety: The Royal Tea Room is exceptional. We had the Royal tea and the food kept coming and coming. Large selection of teas and I tried two teas: the organic plum and white wedding loose teas and properly prepared. Crab soup, salad, scone, savories, sweets, tea--the quality was exceptional and must admit the best tea room I have ever visited and I have been to many. The atmosphere is just charming and relaxing and a good place to catch up with a friend or two over a fabulous meal and cuppa. Terrific gift shop too. I drove 1.5 hours to get here and would definitely do it again. Thank you for a wonderful time. |

Variety: On July 24 our daughter treated us to an unexpected Victorian afternoon at the Royal Tea Room. Upon entering we took a step back in time with lace curtains, Damask tablecloths and napkins, and a feeling of tranquility. Our daughter arranged for the 'Royal Tea'. It started off with the most incredible cream of crab soup we have ever enjoyed. We spent 40 years in MD and never tasted crab soup that was so satisfying. The salad served with the soup was light and refreshing. The apricot scones were served warm and delicious. The presentation of warm savories, tea sandwiches, pastries and fresh fruit was a step back in time thru taste. Angela, our waitress, was charming, engaging, attentive and very informative. She was a definite asset to the whole experience. The teas we tried, Paris & Wedding,... (more) |

Variety: The down fall was, it seems that the owner has her grandchildren there. This was not our first time either, and had hoped that the children would not be there yet again. These children are allowed to run and ripe through this place without regard of it being a place of business. When we voiced our feelings to our waitress, who happened to be the mother of the children, told us we were free to leave if we wanted to. |

Variety: Have been a regular patron since this tea room first opened 4 or 5 years ago, and the service has just gotten better and better! The food has always been consistently excellent. We use this tea room for special occasions, quick girl get-aways, and just an afternoon off from work! |

Variety: The atmosphere was lovely and the owner generously passed on her recipes. The cream of crab soup was fantastic, the best I've ever tasted. The greens in the salad were tender and sweet. The tea sandwiches were fine and the feta cheese and ham sandwich certainly over shadowed all the rest. The tea cake and desserts were nice. I definitely will return. |

Variety: I went to the Tea Room on Wednesday, April 8th with a couple of my girlfriends to have lunch and some hot tea. Our beautiful waitress' name was Angela and she was great, she made the travel from Bethesda, Md well worth it- I will absolutley request her the next time I visit. The other little girls name was Heather and you could tell the two of them enjoyed working together. I ordered a cup of the cream of crab soup and the Queen Elizabeth salad, and it was incredible, best crab soup I've ever eaten! The menu was very diversified and unique and the prices were very affordable. Overall, we had a wonderful time there, I highly reccommend going there, the food was awesome and the service that was offered there is hard to find anywhere else. I will be returning in the near future for the Royal Tea service. |

Variety: I was home for a visit and a good friend of mine suggested we go to The Royal Tea Room. I loved it, we sat there for hours catching up. Atmosphere is so inviting and the food is great! I also loved picking out my own tea cup, felt like a little girl having a tea party. I will plan on going back my next trip home. I also had the pleasure of meeting Dee the owner, enjoyed speaking with her!! I've already recommended to several people. |

Variety: I took my friend for her birthday for tea and we had the best experience. I have had a favorite tea room elsewhere, but you have such a nice high tea it's hard to beat. Your cream of crab soup alone is enough to bring in the customers. I love that your savories included unusual items like coconut shrimp, etc. I will be back this weekend with my daughter and plan to visit many more times to come. I had a Formosa Oolong (one of my favorite teas) that was very good. The atmosphere is very pleasant and what I expect from a tea room. Don't forget to visit the upstairs gift area - lots of neat things to see. |

Variety: My husband and I stopped by the Royal Tea Room on our way home to New Jersey. A friend had recommended we try it, and I'm so glad she did! The food was out of this world! And I loved the spicy plum tea - what flavor! My husband had to drag me out of the rooms above, filled with antiques galore, so we could get back on the road. You can be sure we will stop back again on our next trip through LaPlata! |

Variety: Recently had birthday lunch at The Royal Tea Room with my sister and her husband. The experience was extraordinary in every way - knowledgeable and very pleasant server, nice teas, delicious food. The scones were out of this world served with clotted cream and lemon curd. It's worth a visit just for the scones. But wait, cream of crab soup is a speciality and ranks among the best I've had! In addition to the fabulous food, my better half loved perusing the antiques and gifts upstairs. We'll definitely be back and recommend it to everyone. |

Variety: My wife and I are occasional adventurers in that we open-mindedly explore and value exotic foods and cultures. Together we've developed a synchronous mode of desire for that which is atypical of western ambiance. Through a new friend, she had recently encountered a cafe rich in tasteful European-like culture and thought highly enough of it to share with me although, she was a bit concerned wondering if I'd appreciate the dainty atmosphere. Today (03/01/09) she lured me to a little venue that combines Southern U.S. hospitality with a hint of European sparkle. The Royal Tea Room located in La Plata, MD is a small cafe-like restaurant with a modest menu but poised with flavorful cuisine. The day was cold with a cast of medium gray clouds, preludiously looming in anticipation of ... (more) |

Variety: This is Charles County's #1 location for enjoyable gatherings. The food, service and atmosphere are matched by none other in all of southern Maryland. Valentine's dinner last night was delightfully delicious with lots of extras at a remarkable affordable price. We can't recall when we last enjoyed such a lovely evening. |

Variety: My daughter, who lives near LaPlata, planned an afternoon of tea during our Christmas holiday. What a lovely afternoon we had. The experience was so pleasurable. I would highly recommend this tea room. There was a party of parents with their daughters in our room. The daughters, all fiveish, were given princess crowns and were darling. The children were so well behaved we hardly knew they were there. |

Variety: I live in NC and look forward to coming to this tea room every time I visit my family. The service was excellent and so was the crab soup. Paris tea is my favorite, because of its hint of vanilla. I look forward to coming back this summer, Dee! |

Variety: After reading the reviews of The Royal Tea Room, I decided I needed to visit to see if this place is for real. It is! Most definitely, it is! The Queen Elizabeth was almost too beautiful to eat! The bread pudding was perfect to top it off. And the tea! We had two varieties, Cranberry Autumn and Spicy Plum. Wow! They were so good I had to buy some to bring home the experience! |

Variety: I have been a client of the Royal Tearoom since its opening in April of 2005. Anyone that knows me knows that my all time favorite brunch/lunch place is the Royal Tearoom. We hold board and volunteer luncheons there. Dee and the staff is wonderful, always make my vist, whether business or leisure a pleasure. The food is great and I find any excuse to go there! |
