I visited Serenity Tearoom on July 2, for a bit of 'girl time' with my Frederick-resident friend on the last day of a whirlwind vacation with my husband and son. Even with jackhammers going on outside, the tearoom was a haven of calm and, well, serenity! A perfect place to relax and enjoy some delicious delicacies. Loved the chicken salad tarts, and the raisin scones with lemon curd are scrumptious! The staff were so pleasant and solicitous, I felt quite at home.

Blanche henry, the owner, is a very personable and friendly host and made our visit a very pleasant one. The price is reasonable for the excellent food and service offered. I have been wanting to try this tearoom for months, and I am very happy that I finally went! Blanche was wonderful, and the other servers did an excellent job keeping up with our tea needs. When we explained that we were vegetarians (something we forgot to mention when making the reservation- whoops!), they were very accommodating to our needs. My only niggling problem was that when we first came in, the music was a little bit loud, but when the room filled up with people having dozens of conversations, the volume was perfect.

We really enjoyed our tea at Serentiy. I really liked that after you drink your first pot of tea, you can then change the flavor of your second (The Tropical Green is sooo good).
Tea cosies were not used on the teapots but the pots were small enough that we finished before the tea got cold.
The food was delicious and the service was very good.

There are 55 varieties of loose leaf tea available for purchase, 53 of which they will brew for your tea. The food was delicious (the scones were fabulous with lemon curd!) and dainty; in other words this isn't a gut stuffing meal and it is meant to be nibbled at delicately and not wolfed down. That said, I believe there is an a la carte menu if you are very hungry. I thought the portions were just perfect for a tea, you were comfortable without being stuffed which is nice especially if you were going to walk around afterwards and didn't want to feel sluggish. Service was warm and friendly. We loved it!

While on vacation in Frederick,Md I decided to vitit Serenity and was very pleased with the experience. Blanche explained the menu in detail and was very attentive to my needs. The Orange Spice tea was just right and the snicker doodles were exquisite. The three tier assortment of homemade chocolate covered strawberries, tea bread, english golden raisin scones, pastries and assorted tea sandwiches was wonderful. The atmosphere was relaxed and I had a great view of historical downtown right outside of the window. There are approximately 50 varieties of teas and the floral china makes the whole experience very appetizing. This is my second time visiting a tea house and I definetely believe it is better the second time around. Since this tea house is located in an older home right in the middle of historical Frederick, I was within walkinmg distance of museums and antique shops. I am planning to bring my mother to Serenity in the near future.

Although I have read the overwhelming number (100!) and favorable reviews for this one little tearoom, I must say, I question why it is #1. I not only felt there was a 'domineering under tone' by the staff member/server (owner?) when making the reservation, which necessitated several phone calls, but this approach was apparent even when taking tea. We agreed it did not add to a relaxing experience. Pleasant on the service was she, but 'instructions' and comments were unwelcoming. The artistry of the sandwiches were plain as English tea sandwiches are, but not as creative as I had hoped. The untraditional scone (biscuit) was delicious. The ambience of the room was charming/simple, but the brown teapot did not complement the table setting of fine, floral decor. Overall, it was an adequate exp... (more)erience, but one must question with so many favorable reviews, who is writing the reviews, Family and Friends? I will continue to go to Reynolds Tavern for a Colonial understated traditional Tea and Tea on the Tiber for a fine Victorian Tea experience.

Afternoon tea was a pleasure, with smooth, well-timed service in a warm, intimate setting. The food was delicious; I especially liked the egg salad sandwiches. The room, the tables, music, decorations everything was tasteful and delightful. We had high expectations as we had noticed the number one rating when were choosing a tearoom, and we were not disappointed. There was a vast selection of teas to choose from-all loose leaf. The tea was brought to the table fully brewed and with the leaves removed so that the tea did not continue to steep and become bitter. The food was beautifully arranged on a three-tiered tray and tasted as good as it looked. I would definitely recommend the Serenity Tearoom to everyone and we both intend to visit again soon!

This tearoom is one of the best I have ever been to. My friend treated me to a birthday celebration and it was delightful. We received a very warm welcome from the charming owner, Blanch. The tea and food was some of the best we have ever experienced, and consisted of delicious sandwiches, savories and sweets. The scones were the best, served warm with lemon curd and clotted cream – scrumptious. Blanch was attentive and made us feel special. We thoroughly enjoyed our leisurely visit….. this tearoom is definitely a “do-over”…..we loved it! Cathi, Reston, VA

The experience was warm, cozy, and intimate. A great selection of tea and food that was lovingly prepared only added to the wonderful experience. Blanch and her staff's attention to detail are what make this time room stand out from the many others I have tried.

My sister, my daughter and I visited Serenity Tearoom on 10/12/07. We immediately felt at home by the warm welcome we received. We enjoyed deliciously and beautifully prepared tea sandwiches and the best, best raisin scones I have ever tasted. The desserts- fruit tarts, pecan cookies and huge juicy chocolate covered strawberries were delectable. Everything was so fresh and elegantly presented. It was such a relaxing delightful afternoon. We can't wait to return!

'Serenity' clearly deserves its name. We were so completely relaxed and comfy during our first visit to this tearoom for a traditional full tea. The service, the ambiance, the food, and the teas were all superb! We'll visit again and again.

A beautiful setting with so mcuh character! The owner and her husband were a delight and such great sports. I was a guest of a Red Hat group and the owner and hubby both chose their favorite hat to wear for a photo! I would certainly go back!

My friends and I visited Serenity Tearoom in September. We were looking for a special experience to help celebrate our reunion. This experience was what we were looking for! Everything was lovely! The atmosphere and the music were very pleasant. The food was excellent, and we could not finish it all. The selection of tea was huge. I had apricot and it was very fresh and delicious! Talking with Blanche, the owner, was especially nice. She found something in common with each of us. We also enjoyed making some purchases in the shop afterwards. It was definitely an A+ experience and reasonably priced too! I'd love to go again!

What a wonderful time we had. Our Red Hat group came for tea and Blanche and her husband could not have been more welcoming and FUN! The food was plentiful, the tea excellent and the service was top notch. The tea sandwiches were great, especially the chicken salad. The scones with home made jam were YUMMY. And what more needs to be said about Chocolate covered strawberries and tiny fruit tarts. The variety at Serenity is excellent. Everyone should visit the Serenity Tea Room when in Frederick. It's well worth the trip. I will definately be going again.

This is a wonderful tea shop. They have an excellent selection of teas and the teas are very fresh. The food is excellent and even satisfies my husband. The atmosphere is very soothing. We always feel so calm after visiting. This was my second time in the shop and my friends took me there for my birthday. Blanche always makes everyone feel so welcome and seems to enjoy her customers as much as they enjoy the experience.

I recently visited the Serenity Tearoom with two of my friends for a Girl's day out/Birthday celebration and had an absolutely wonderful time. This was my second visit. The first time I went with my young adult daughter and a friend with her very mature 2 year old daughter and had an equally nice time. I'm planning to return for a 3rd visit for a Mother and Daughter Tea Time. If you haven't visited the Serenity Tearoom you're missing a treat.
