This is my second time to the tearoom - the first was with my grown son. He loved the lunch. This time with a group of ladies. Each time the experience was top notch. Just walking into the tearoom removes one from the 'noisi-ness' of the outside! Had the Mango Rooibos and it was better than the Rooibos I had in South Africa. All the sandwiches were fresh. The ability of the tearoom to handle my nut allergy and provide an alternative as well as to let me know which teas had nuts in them was simply one example of the 'customer caring' shown. The operation of the tearoom by Mrs. Henry (the owner) and staff should be a full blown management case in product positioning and quality customer service for the Wharton, Howard and Harvard Schools of Business!!

A charming and lovely tearoom. Blanche, the owner, was friendly and welcoming, as was her staff. The selection of 60 teas was impressive (the earl grey cream was delicious). The three tiered tray was abundant with sweet and savory treats (chicken cashew salad, cucumber sandwiches, scones, strawberry tea bread, tiny fruit tarts, chocolate dipped strawberries, etc.) and the clotted cream and lime curd were scrumptious. A great value for the price and a wonderful experience.

I was not sure I would enjoy my Traditional Afternoon Tea but I enjoyed everything about it. They had a great selection of what I would call traditional teas like Earl Gray and Irish Breakfast and specialty teas like Valentine Day that went well with the fruit tarts and tea cookies that they served. I would recommend Serenity Tearoom to any guy who want to earn points with their favorite ladies and you will enjoy it yourself.

Great place. Offered an intimate place for me and my daughter to connect and share some one on one time. We were doing a special book together. Great tea, warm pastries with nice toppings and very friendly staff.

I recently attended a birthday celebration at the Serenity Tea Room. The sandwiches and sweets were fine. I think that people have different expectations about 'going out for tea'. When I go for tea, I want an elegant setting with beautiful atmosphere and serving pieces. Although the room is somewhat tranquil, I think that they could really step it up to become a more elegant tea salon. The servers should all be in uniforms, the table cloths should be more elegant, the tea pots should be more elegant, etc. And the bathroom---a total make over is required.

Most delicious! Butternut Squash soup, warm scones, bite size chicken salad in pastry, hot caramel tea...I could go on and on. A beautiful assortment of perfectly prepared and served goodies. The fun just kept coming! We had a wonderful time! We will return!!

We found Serenity Tearoom by accident and just walked in to a wonderful experience. The food and service are as good as any high tea I have had in a tearoom or at a fine hotel. The selection and knowledge of tea was awesome. The food was mostly homemade and the scones were the best ever. You won't be disappointed by the experience or the gracious service.

I have been to several tearooms in different locations in Maryland. This tearoom is my favorite by far! Over 85 teas to choose from, and the teapot is bottomless. You can choose as many different teas that your belly can handle! The food portions were beyond expectations and were scrumptious! The owner and staff were absolutely delightful. Will travel the 3 hours again (each way) just to experience the ambiance of this tearoom!

We were not impressed with this tea room. We had an 11 am. reservation and had to wait ouside on a chilly day for them to open the doors and not a minute early either. Unususal for our experiences of a tea room. The one server, who we believe to be the owner-Blanche was not very pleasant. Pricey and the food was not the best. Unlike other reviews as I have seen. Maybe we looked at her wrong????!! We will not return.

Going to Serenity for high tea was a peerless experience. From the outside, it is a business. Once you walk inside and meet Blanche, she treats you like you are in her home. The food is presented well and tastes even better! The selection of teas is outstanding and it is difficult to choose which one to sample, so I highly recommend getting the endless tea to taste from as many teas as you like! I cannot recommend Serenity enough, Blanche is a business owner when you enter, a friend when you leave.

Blanche called me at home the night before we arrived to celebrate my mother's 92nd birthday. She was friendly and welcoming. Her friendliness and approachable manner continued when we arrived. She clearly explained our wonderful choices and described several possible tea choices. The servers were polite and positive. The food was DELICIOUS and beautifully presented. We spent at least 2 hours enjoying ourselves and have a totally wonderful time. Thank you very much for a relaxing and pleasant afternoon tea.

A wonderful, extensive selection of whole leaf teas brewed to perfection and presented in attractive pots. We always enjoy their delicious food(best scones and tea sandwiches in the area!)and conversation over at least two varieties of teas. The owner is very friendly and enjoys taking time to answer any questions we may have about the teas or the food she prepares fresh daily. Atmosphere is calm and traditional. Taking tea here is always a relaxing and uplifting experience!

My wife and I very much enjoyed this tearoom and Blanch herself. I particularly endorse the review by Moore dated 10/31/10. We found the food quality excellent, and a very extensive tea list to choose from. We particularly favor named estate teas and chose Assam Behora - a first for us and very good. The leaf itself was not stale and lifeless as I have found it can be at tearooms which serve black teas to very few customers - it was fresh, and properly brewed with water at the boiling point - a critical matter for the black tea lover. I purchased some of this tea before leaving, It has a pleasing woodsy/floral bouquet late on the palate which I have not experienced before with an Assam. Our visit was indeed serene because the tearoom was uncrowded - when filled with ladies in a celebratory mood, what then?

Over the last 6 years, I've visited Serenity Tea Room several times. In August, I was fortunate enough to travel to England and Scotland and had tea and scones several places. I had been especially looking forward to The Pump House in Bath, England. The room was very elegant and the afternoon tea was special, but NOWHERE did I taste scones as good as Blanche's at Serenity...I know a review is subjective, but one need travel no further than Serenity Tea Room in Frederick, to have the Very Best Scones!

This is the finest Tea room I've ever experienced. The owner, Blanche, is friendly and filled with southern elegance and charm. The scones are fresh and warm, I love the homemade soups-today I had the chicken tortilla and it was fabulous. There is a wide selection of tea choices and every member of my party was able to select their favorite tea-endless pot. The price is reasonable and outclasses the Strathmore tea room by far and is much less expensive.

My Red Hat Group, 'The Chesapeake Chicks' went to the Serenity Tea Room on Thursday May 5th. This was my 4th visit and so I suggested to my 'Chicks' that we enjoy an afternoon strolling through downtown Frederick and then have a relaxing High Tea. Blanche and her staff made everyone feel welcome and relaxed. Blanche's food is made with LOVE. You can tell that when you taste the various foods. I am amazed at the large variety of Teas that are offered. It was worth the 60 mile drive and the high price of gas to visit the Serenity Tea Room. Looking forward to visiting in the warmer weather to have my Tea outside. Thanks Blanche for making my trip delicious and relaxing.

I loved the sandwiches and scones, the sandwiches were very tasty and well made, the scones were nice and light, it went extremely well with the curd I picked. The cups were so cute and dainty, I just loved the sugar cubes as well...The atmosphere was so calm the music was a nice touch so you couldn't hear the other people in the room, and all pauses were filled with pleasant music. It was my birthday and they brought out a beautiful small bite sized cake shaped like a rose, with chocolate for the stalk....It was an amazing experience.

Here is my expectation and my experience at Serenity in Frederick:
1.) Excellent loose tea brewed in a ceramic teapot holding 3 cups of perfectly steeped tea.
2.) Bone china tea cup and saucer with a small teaspoon just the right size to stir neatly.
3.) A tiered presentation of savory tea sandwiches and canapes as well as sweet custard cups and small cookies and fruit cups.
4.) Comfortable chairs and tables with adequate space between and fresh flowers in vases on each table.
5.) An exceptionally clean and interesting lady/gents (it serves both) room that has all you need to freshen up.
Above and beyond my expectations was the retail section where I was able to purchase my favorite tea of the 3 pots I tried. The music was at just the right volume and the selections perfect for a serene tearoom experience. I will be back most definitely with friends and family.

This is a lovely tea room. Decorated in a Victorian style in a small room with lovely tableware. This was my 3rd visit and I love it every time. Owner and other family members are always charming, informative, cheerful, professional. Food is absolutely delicious - especially the butternut squash soup! I know I will be visitng there again soon!

Outstanding! This is the best tea I have ever experienced - lovely & serene setting with soothing music played in the backgrownd. It was a relaxing experienc - a welcome relief from the stress of daily living around here with all the hustle & bustle. The food was divine and beautifully presented and there was so much food. I relished every bite. I think they have just about every kind of tea you can imagine. Blanche and her staff explain in detail everything they serve and she is the most gracious hostess as are her assistants. This is superior to the Ritz Carlton. Five stars!!!

There is a reason this tearoom is rated #1 in MD. It is evident why every time we are fortunate enough to enjoy tea there. Blanche is a perfect hostess. She really cares about the quality of the food and making her customers happy. She honors requests for vegetarian options. This time we enjoyed a wonderful butternut squash soup, a choice of 3 scones which were all delicious (because we shared to try them all!) and luscious sandwiches including egg salad, traditional cucumber and an herbed tomato cream cheese. Her strawberry tea is especially luscious. We are so grateful that Blanche shares her love of tea with us.

This was my first time at Serenity Tearoom, but it certainly won't be my last! The service was fantastic, everyone was so friendly! The food was very very good! The portions were just right and everything looked (and tasted) perfect. Not to mention the tea! There were so many options, each one escribed really nicely. I can not reccomend Serenity Tearoom highly enough.

I have lived all over the country and seek out tea rooms where ever I live. I moved to Virginia a year and half ago and have been searching for a tea room. I have been to several in Virginia and Maryland and this tea shop is a dream come true and huge blessing! From the minute you walk in the door the smell of tea and fresh baked goods greets your senses. Blanche and the other woman made me feel right at home. Everything was perfect, the decor was beautiful, the food spectacular, the tea amazing. The food is made from scratch and are items you can't easily make at home. The scones were light, buttery, melt in your mouth, warm and served with yummy choices of jams, and cream. The tea was steeped perfectly and I love that you can try different teas after you finish your first pot. Don't waste your time and money going to any other tea shop this place is worth any drive.

I've said it many times and will say it many, many more - This is the BEST tearoom I've EVER been too. I've had tea all over the world including the British Isles and China, but nothing tops Blanche and her Serenity Tearoom.

My mom, grandmother and I go at least once a month. We are always warmly welcomed, never rushed, have the best time (food, tea and social-wise), and leave feeling happy and relaxed.

The tea selection keeps me picking at least one new tea each time I go..and if I can't make up my mind, Blanche and her girls have never failed at surprising me with an excellent cuppa. The food is not only tasty, but artfully done.

If you get the chance to experience one of the special event teas, go for it! Not only do you get a wonderfully delicious meal, but you get a tea cup and saucer to remember the experience.

If you're going to be near Frederick, don't pass this gem of a tea sanctuary up!

Last Saturday afternoon, a photographer friend and I visited the Serenity Tearoom in Frederick, Maryland. It was love at first sight. The atmosphere was warm, friendly, and very relaxing. The service was second to none, and the owner and staff were so professional, warm and as friendly as the delectable tea which they served to us. The tea cakes, scones, curd, clotted cream were the best I have ever tasted. I highly recommend this Tea Room to everyone. The location is convenient; and a perfect place to relax, mingle with friends. I shall return again, and again. I have two words to describe this tea room: 'perfect' and 'heavenly'.

Serenity Tea Room is simply wonderful! A warm welcome, excellent service, plus delicious tea and food. I had scones and jam and they were the best I've ever had - and I'm English and have eaten A LOT of scones! Thank you Blanche for a lovely and peaceful tea.
