I just tried to make a reservation TWICE with this tea place and have had a horrible time. The first time I called I was told that one can only make reservations on Wednesday (makes no sense) and when I called on Wednesday, was told that they don't take reservations for parties that aren't 20 or more, and that no you can't just walk in either. Both times the girls on the phone sounded like they couldn't wait to hang up. So much for taking my visiting mother there for a nice afternoon tea. I will gladly be taking my business elsewhere (and I'm a Fells Point resident who loves supporting the local businesses...oh well!)

My hubby and I try to find a tea room in every state we visit and have been to so many good ones. As far as maryland is concerned this tea room without a doubt takes the cake! We have celebrated birthday's here, and Mother's day it's Maryland's best.

I have been to alot of tea houses around Baltimore and this was a lackluster house for me and my daughter. Her tea was not strong enough to even taste it. The sandwiches were a little stale as well. We both agree we will not be back. It is not what we thought.

Its pink and lace adourned dining room has menu of close to 40 loose teas. The gift shop has gifts for all occasions and some very cute stuff! They have traditional Afternoon Tea, High Tea, and 'Tinkerbell Tea' for children

My ZTA Alum chapter went for our annual tea here yesterday. Now we are usually accustomed to us each being served our own pot f tea of our likening however they allowed us to pick 4 bottomless pots at a time (for 9 ppl). Which turned out to be nice because we could pick whatever we wanted each refill and sample a bunch of teas. We even had a bunch of leftovers to take home. They brought us 2 huge 3 tier serving trays filled with food.

We had Afternoon Tea which includes:
Scones with Devon Cream & Jam
Assorted finger tea sandwiches with fresh fruit
assorted sweets, pastries & Tea cakes
For $19.95

I have been to the Petticoat Tea Room several times, every experience has been wonderful.

This last time was especially pleasant because my sister was in from Afghanistan on leave and we were hoping to find a place for us to have tea on short notice. The ladies at Petticoat were happy to accomodate us even though we were their last reservation of the night. We did not feel rushed and the service was fantastic.

I always look forward to going back to Petticoat (and I've been to at least three other teahouses in Baltimore).

The tea and food was great but the gift shop, though large, hardly had any actual tea themed gifts. I have been to around 45 afternoon tea services and it wasn't until I attended Southern Accents, that I was asked to LEAVE. Granted we had been there for 1 hour and 45 mins, but I have never asked to leave to accomodate another party. Imagine if you were at a restuarant having dinner and they asked you to leave?! Though the most part of my experience was just lovely, the last 5 minutes left a bad taste in my mouth. I will not return.

Kristen, we gladly welcome all comments. Admittedly our gift shop offerings are minimal since we are in the process of liquidating to make room to expand the operation.

We apologize that you felt rushed during your stay with us. Without knowing the particulars...did you make an advance reservation? As you are aware, our tea room is very small and we strongly recommend reservations due to the popularity of our tea room for private parties. When reservations are made in advance we always allow adequate time for a proper tea experience. Thank you again for your commments and we are sorry that you won't be coming back.

I booked the tearoom in early January,2008 and signed the contract to have my youngest daughters 6th birthday party in late Janauary. WELL... when I called to give the final number for the guest list I was informed that even though I had booked the tearoom they had failed to reserved the room; they had no idea who I was, and they had booked 2 other parties during the same time frame. Not only that.. when the manager did call me back she attempted to advise me that they could accomadate the girls in the hotel, not the tearoom. I thought this was an insult since I had a signed contract, and I had paid $75 for exclusive use of the tearoom. After about 3-4 calls the situation was resolved and I got the tearoom. On the day of the event to my surprise the tearoom had one waitress (who was not a... (more)

It comes as no surprise that you would post a negative comment on this website. And to post a full rebuttal to your inaccurate account of what transpired would take up too much of my time. None of the other parties had any complaints and nor did YOU while you were here.

I would like to mention that several of your guests walked out without paying, which is inexcusable on EVERY level. It seems to me that as the host of the event you would have made an attempt to rectify this issue while you were here instead of having an 'oh well' comment & attitude. We look forward to not seeing you again!

This past weekend, I was treated to a enjoyable birthday high tea. Even though the Fells Point area was bustling outside, this tearoom was a sea of tranquility inside. Our server for the day, Samantha, was so pleasant and she made us feel right at home from the very beginning of our tea experience. The soup was fabulous, the three tiered presentation beautiful, and the portions were more than we could finish. I would definitely recommend this tearoom as a place to spend a pleasant afternoon. Bring a group and stay a while. It is truly charming!

As a tearoom owner from IL. I enjoy going to other tearooms all over the country. This tearoom really has won its top 5% ribbon. While the scones were more like cookies than scones they were very good, and the three tiered high tea service was wonderful. The soup was defiantly home made and the presentation great. The tea selection was good but very heavy in the black tea offerings, with only one oolong and a handful of green teas. Our waitress Samantha was very sweet and attended to everything with a smile. She defiantly made our experience better.
Over all I would say this is a great tearoom for anyone who has or has not ever been to tea.

This was the first tea room that I visited, which was in April for a bridal shower, and it was a nice introduction to the tea room 'experience.' There were a good variety of teas, and I'm honestly not much of a tea drinker, but the peach and raspberry ice teas that were served - a welcome alternative on that hot day - were fantastic! The scones were small cookie-types, which, unfortunately, don't measure up to the scones that I've had at other tea rooms since then. However, the sandwiches and pastries were good, and the service was great, even though there were a lot of people attending the shower.

Although it was a nice experience, especially for a first-timer, my experiences since then, which have included Reynolds Tavern, Tea by Two, and Crown & Thistle, have eclipsed this one. It is also the most expensive of the tea rooms that I've visited.
