Variety:
If you are interested in enjoying an afternoon tea stay away from this dismal restaurant which has no right to call themselves a tearoom. The owners clearly have no idea what an actual afternoon tea is supposed to entail. |

Tearoom Response
We know exactly who the 2 perpetrators of this sham review are and they should be ashamed of themselves and their motives. In our 3 1/2 years in business we have been visited by extraordinary individuals from all over the world. These countries include; England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Greece, China, Japan, Argentina, Brazil and from all over the United States of America. The day these 2 ladies visited us so did a lovely couple from South Africa of English descent that absolutely loved our afternoon tea. If you visit our beautiful European inspired tea room the first thing you will see is our health code rating of 101 on a scale of 100. The 2 ladies that wrote this bogus and hurtful review were rude and arrogant to my staff from the moment they crossed our threshold. My experienced head waitress informed me that 2 rude women did not understand the 3 course afternoon tea that we offer. It became apparent that they expected a three tiered platter of buttered watercress, and cucumber sandwiches on white bread, crusts cut off, cut into little triangles. I respectfully explained to them that SweeTea's had many sandwiches to choose from including smoked Norwegian salmon stuffed into freshly baked croissants, dilled turkey breast salad, and our famous Virginia ham salad, to name a few for our savory course, but they didn't seem to know what savory even meant. I further explained that the scone course was served next. It consists of our own fresh made warm Scottish scones, raspberry sauce, and my grandmother's wonderful clotted cream. Each person also may choose a pot of tea from our list of 18 different loose Authentic Imported from England teas. Finally they could choose from our assortment of cakes and and pastries, but I explained that most people take this course home as they are usually too sated to eat another bite. I asked them to please choose from our extensive menu of savories first. When my head waitress returned to serve them, they had left. Several patrons commented on how shocked they were at the rude and uncultured behavior of these women. It should be stressed that even though almost every tea room in the Charlotte Metropolitan area has closed due to the great recession SweeTea's Bakery & Tea Room CAFE is doing quite nicely thank you. We look forward to serving our customers with the same atmosphere and great food that they have loved since we opened in 2008. -Marie Fish & Family |
