Food: I recently had the pleasure of eating at your tea room. I visited it with a group of 8 of my high school friends. The food, tea, service and atmospere were all wonderful. We probably outstayed our welcome but the tea room was so comfortable and friendly that we felt like we were visiting friends. |

Food: Tea and Sympathy is a wonder little place with a nice, peaceful atmosphere. It has the appearance of a typical british style tea room, which is a nice change of pace from the drab hustle and bustle of modern day America. Tanalee is a sweet and exuberant woman who serves some of the best herbal teas I've ever had, and I've had a lot of tea from many different places. The tea is simply divine and not only that, the food is amazing too! I would recommend the asian wrap or tomato basil soup to anyone looking to try something new while there. Her food is healthy for the most part too, save for the deserts of course. I've already introduced many of my friends to this place, and not one person didn't enjoy themselves. If you're ever in the area near downtown Bastrop, stop by, I'm sure you'll enjoy it! |

Food: What a darling tearoom! Tanalee was such an attentive hostess to our group of 11. The food presentation was beautiful to look at and just as delicious. Our group (ages 5-80) all thouroughly enjoyed the afternoon! |

Food: I could hardly wait until I got home from our wonderful Tea Party to write my review of Tanalee's. Tanalee provided us with the most delightful afternoon tea - we could not have asked for or expected a more charming place to share with my Mom her 80th birthday. Tanalee saw to every detail and created for us a memory we will treasure for a very long time. This is a special, precious place. Food: I've been to several tea rooms in California, many of which required a reservation and were 'world renowned'. Tana Lee's 'Tea and Sympathy' in Bastrop, TX outshines them all. My daughter and I ran across this tea room when we were 'window shopping' in Bastrop and decided to 'duck in' from the cool weather to have a cup of tea. The proprietor was wonderfully warm,hospitable and entertaining. The tea was excellent...and the scones were the best I've ever had. The atomosphere is very warm and cozy and if I had a chance to go every day, I would. As it is, I'll just have to settle for a Saturday or two a month. If you are ever in the neighborhood, take some time to drop in, you will enjoy every second! |

Food: My daughter Kelsey and I were staying at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines and Resort for our summer vacation. We decided to visit the nearby town of Bastrop, TX. While in an antique store, the merchant told us to be sure and go to the grand opening of Tanalee's Tea and Sympathy. We are so glad we took her advice. It was the highlight of our trip! The tea room was whimsical and quaint. We really felt like we were in another world. The teas we chose were delicious and we enjoyed picking a hat out of the many hanging on the wall, to wear while we enjoyed our tea and fabulous desserts. Food: I took my nine year old niece, Betsy, to visit my grandmother, Nana, in Smithville. Nana knew that I had been having tea parties since I was a little girl and that Betsy also shared my joy of tea parties. Nana suggested that on our way back to Austin, we stop in Bastrop and check out Tanalee's Tea and Sympathy Tea Room. It was a delightful surprise to find this little oasis of calm and civility in Bastrop. The whimsical furnishings really impressed Betsy. The tea was superb as were the scones with clotted cream. Betsy wants to have her birthday party there with several of her girl friends all dressed up for a proper tea. |

Food: My recent visit to Tanalee's Tea and Sympathy was both enlightening and enchanting. My friend and I came to Bastrop to spend an afternoon away from Austin. We found the tea room while looking at antique stores. As a recent convert from coffee to tea, I found Tana (the owner) to be educational and well-informed as she recommended teas I might enjoy. She allowed me to see and smell the various teas. Tea and Sympathy has a blend of various fruit teas as their 'house' tea and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The whimsical decor made our visit all the more fun. Everywhere I turned, there was something fun to look at and a story behind every object.
