I am the Director Of The Virginia Tea Society. The VTS Board including myself visited the Taste Tearoom on June 5, 2008. We had made reservations for the Jane Pettigrew lecture and book signing.
We found Diana and her staff to be delightful. The atmosphere and food were delightful. Especially the carrot soup. I would highly recommend Taste Tearoom to anyone who desires a unique experience.

After reading the excellent reviews about the Taste Tea Salon, I decided to take my mother there to celebrate her birthday. We had a wonderful time! I could not have asked for anything better. Taste far and away exceeded my already high expectations. The foods and pastries were delicate and delicious. They were carefully prepared and presented beautifully. There were many teas to chose from. The two types that we selected were aromatic, tasty, and relaxing. The serving dishes were so dainty that we really did feel like we were having a little tea party. However, the highlight of our experience was the personable staff. Lilian, our hostess and server, made us feel so welcome. Throughout the experience we shared so many stories with her that we felt like she was part of our family.... (more) To round-out an already wonderful experience, they also had a quaint shopping area to browse with super-cute baby and decorative items. Also, the bathroom was luxurious and meticulously clean. I would recommend Taste tea to anyone.

Along with my Red Hat Group, we had the pleasure yesterday of meeting the owner Diane at Taste Tea Salon and Gifts. The table settings were quite elegant, the selections of tea and delicious food were excellent, and the service exceptional. We left Taste of Tea both very full and pleased at our experience. I highly recommend to others.

Our Red Hat group had the pleasure of having tea today at Taste Tea Salon. We all hardly agreed it was one of our better outings. The shop was lovely, the food and tea was delicious with a great variety and beautifully presented. Although we were getting full we couldn't resist all the tempting delicacies.

As a college student who is constantly presented with bad food and noisy atmospheres, I have come to truly appreciate the elegance of Taste Tea. My friends and I love to go to Taste for a relaxing oasis of calm, wonderful service, and absolutely delicious food and teas. Each course is beautiful and is served at a leisurely pace, giving you time to both savor and enjoy the company of friends. There is nothing like a perfectly brewed tea and homemade treats to pamper a busy person. Treat yourself! I will return to Taste Tea again and again. Thank you!

Such an array of great tea choices, delicious foods, friendly service, relaxing atmosphere and delightful decor.
Taste has become a tradition for my Mom, Aunt, Cousin, and I. Always when we get together for our annual Williamsburg trip; we all look forward to our girls’ day out at Taste, while the guys go on their own adventures. It is just one of those places were from the moment you walk in the door, you know you are in a special place. It feels both exquisite and still welcoming and comfortable. Enjoy the favorable teas (we all like to order a different tea and sample a bit of each others’), the light and airy scones, the delicious soups, the variety of bite-size gourmet sandwiches and dishes, and the lovely yummy desserts. You will love this place! Ever since this pass trip, ... (more)I have been craving the yummy cauliflower soup, and I hope I have found some recipes that will at least taste fairly close to the delicious soup prepared at Taste. If not, I will just have to wait until next trip, which I am already looking forward to, and it is a year away. Thanks Ladies for having such a lovely Tea!

It was beautiful! Just have one suggestion as this is our fifth visit; we would like to see tea warmers used to keep the tea hot. The first teacup is delightful, but the second in lukewarm. Also, tea warmers add a touch of elegance, so why not?

I have been here several times with small groups and larger groups and have never been disappointed. I had my bridesmaid lunchon here and everyone had a wonderful time. Since then a group of my friends and I travel around Virginia to different tea rooms. This place remains the place we compair all others to. Never be in a hurry when you go to a tea room. The service may seem slow but RELAX it is meant to be savored.

I travel with my mother to Williamsburg around this time each year. A couple of years ago we heard about Taste and made reservations. It was WONDERFUL. So much so that it is a 'must do' for us each year. This year I neglected to make reservations but we took a chance and stopped in anyway - fortunately they had a space left for us and we had another terrific Taste experience. I highly recommend this to anyone and have not been able to find a similar experience outside of this particular tea shop. Thank you for the great food and service!

On a recent trip to Colonial Williamsburg, I was encouraged to make a side trip to Taste; and I must say it was well worth the trip!
The ambiance is particularly appealing--colorful table linens, interesting china; different for each table and comfortable chairs. Tea was served by Diana who exhibited an exceptional knowlege of teas and the different steeping times.
The accompanying sweets and savories were simply superb! If life is in the details, then Taste has no equal--at least in my experience. From homemade lemon curd, to a touch of sundried tomato on a miniature quiche, the presentation was only excelled by the flavors of that first bite.
Service was timed well--a rarity these days--so that we could enjoy our tea at a leisurly pace.
Thank you for a nearly perfect afternoon.

My sisterinlaw took me to 'out to Tea' as a treat, and what a treat it was! I had exprienced High Tea at the Empress Hotel in Vict.BC and this was twice as delightful. A cheerful water feature and classical music added to the charm of this faerie-like atmosphere. We were treated to a mushroom soup with great savory broth, then the little sandwiches were heavenly: especially the tiniest little BLT for it's sheer minaturization! but the variety of flavors was exquisite, only to be topped by the desserts: baklava, creampuffs, carrot cake and their signature creme brulee. We were shocked that we had lingered over two hours, but what a superb indulgence. The ladies apologized for being shortstaffed that day, but it never showed, with their poised and lovely presentation and the magic atmosphere they created.

My husband, daughter and I recently visited Taste Tea Salon. All I can say is WOW! We had the best time. Everything was perfect. The scones were so light, served with their own lemon curd and devonshire cream. After our scones we had a surprise when the server brought us a petite bowl of their carrot thal soup. Our eyes popped when they brought out their two tier trayu. The bottom tray had four different sandwiches, an array of other special items including a cucumber sandwich, pasty cups filled with asaparagus and artichoke, grilled pork tenderloin on a special cracker and other savories we can't remember. The desserts were also wonderful. Their creme brulee, the best ever, pumpkin cheesecake, a variety of other tartletts, cakes and special sweets. The gift side of Taste is also beautifully decorated which displays the unique gifts and teas. We all surely enjoyed our visit at Taste. Everything was perfect, what a truly great afternoon.

We recently had the most wonderful tea experience we've ever had. We found information on Taste in one of the National Tea Magazines. We then read the reviews on line and decided to try it The teas offered are loose teas, a nice variety, served in a perfect tea pot which we bought two. The selections of the savories and sweets were more than we have ever had. No one would expect such a variety. They were so,so good, every bite a different texture and taste. The service was excellent, very friendly. The room is very warm and relaxing with a soft sound of rain coming from a fountain in the back of the tea side. On the gift side is a selection of beautiful gifts ranging from tea items, food, spa, baby and so much more. It truly was a wonderful experience. We certainly will return when we visit Williamsburg again. IT'S A MUST! The best tea experience we've ever had and we have had many.

After reading all the wonderful reviews, my mother and I decided this would be the tea room we would visit while in our vacation in Williamsburg. I have to say that we were disappointed. The service was slow and we were waiting for a long time between courses. We also had no idea how to 'work' our teapots because our server did not explain anything to us. By the time our tier of treats arrived we had finished our tea and weren't offered anymore so we assumed we were only allowed one pot each. However, when our server came back over to check on us later she asked if we wanted more tea and by the time it arrived we were just about finished eating. The food was very good, but we were disappointed in the service and it seemed the other people in the tea room were getting their courses faster than we were.

Amy, we are sorry that you did not respond to us directly. The guests who were served prior to you had earlier reservations and arrived before you.We stress that our teas are each made to order and this takes time We do not do seating and each guest is asked to linger as long as they like.If someone is in a hurry we hope that they will join us at another time.. We feel our teapots are pretty straight forward, but regret you had problems. We noticed that you signed our guest book and under comments it was left blank.Again we regret you did not express your concerns to us.

This is the tearoom that I use to measure all others. The food is always delicious. Not just the usual selection of sandwiches and savories. This is a very imaginative owner. You will get tastes of a good variety of scrumptious things. The soup is always a very pleasant surprise. I could make a meal of just the delicious soups. Service is always efficient and friendly. I love the decor. Very light and airy, beautiful cloths and table settings. A visit here is always very relaxing. This should be in the top 5% category. So much better than a few that ARE included in the top 5%. I have been to Whispering Willows and they have 'borrowed' ideas from Tastes Tea Salon, but not matched the quality presented at Tastes. I have also been to The Pink Bicycle and the quality and service there are seriously lacking. I will continue to make this my go to tearoom. I LOVE Tastes Tea Salon.

Taste Tea is perfect for the ladies. The staff was super friendly. We ordered the full tea and were stuffed. The scones were the best we had ever had. Better than in Manhattan or the Empress hotel in Canada. There was a great assortment of finger sandwiches, all delicious. There was also a chilled soup and a large & again delicious dessert selection. The tea was so good we bought some for home. The prices are very affordable for all that you get. Wish it was closer, we would definitely be regulars. You've got to try it.

A friend and I cohosted a bridal shower at Taste Tea Salon and Gifts this afternoon. The elegant but relaxed venue was the perfect choice for our group of 9, who ranged in age from 13 to (slightly) over 50. A fountain gurgled and music played in the background, creating a relaxing atmosphere. The table setting of china featuring different flowers (the white calla lily was for the bride-to-be) was lovely, and fresh flowers decorated both the table where we sat and the gift table. None of our guests had been to Taste before, and they all loved it.
The menu was equally successful. My cohost and I had arranged for the Full Tea to be served to each member of our party. (Taste also offers a Royal Tea, which has an expanded choice of teas and additional food items. I've had it in the pas... (more)t and highly recommend it.)
With the Full Tea, each guest chose one of six Harney and Sons teas, four served hot (Queen Catherine's Blend, Peach and Ginger, a raspberry infusion, and a fourth that I don't remember) and two iced (the raspberry infusion and a peach tea different from the peach and ginger hot tea). Each of the hot teas arrived in its own pot; with the flick of a lever, the guest could raise or lower the basket containing the loose tea leaves to get the strength she desired. Those of us who ordered the iced teas merely had to drink them, although sugar and three types of sweetners were available if we wanted to use them.
The food courses began with scones served fresh from the oven with Devon cream and lemon curd. The guest of honor said they were the lightest she's ever tasted. An excellent cauliflower and Vidalia onion soup followed (even the vegetable haters in our group liked it, and I'll be using Vidalia onions the next time I make cauliflower soup). Each guest was then served a variety of dainty sandwiches, quiches, and desserts on her own two-tiered dish. The sandwiches included chicken salad, pimento cheese, cucumber, egg salad, and miniature BLTs. The quiches were asparagus and artichoke. Dessert featured cheesecake, strawberry sorbet, chocolate cake with peanut butter icing, and (the favorite for many of us) an individual creme brulee. Everything was excellent.
The quality of the service equaled that of the menu and the atmosphere. Two of the three co-owners waited on us (the third was working in the back but spoke with several of us as our afternoon drew to a close). They were friendly but unobtrusive, and they kept the afternoon moving without rushing us. Because the owners did all of the work, my cohost and I were able to relax and enjoy the party as well. We wanted to do something relaxing yet out of the ordinary, elegant but not stuffy, and Taste fit the bill perfectly.

Fouth, Fifth or sixth visit( I have lost count now) to the lovely tea room. As in all my visits before everything was absolutely lovely. Three of my party of 5 were returnees; the other two were newbies who I wanted to have a true 'tea experience'. I could not have picked a better tearoomm for them. They absolutely loved it. For me this tea room is the bar by which other tea rooms are judged. I have not found any others thus far that quite match it. This is a tea room that I will gladly suggest to all tea lovers that I find.
