Late on this review, as it was years ago I was there. But I still need to put my 2 cents in. This place is an adorable way to spend a moment if you are up at the lake.

I enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea along Lake Erie. Harney and Sons tea is served in pots with the leaves in a removable mesh strainer. The tea room is in a front room of a bed and breakfast. The first course is a griddle scone - delicious, along with orange marmalade and butter. My two tiered server held a fresh fruit cup and sweets on the top with an abundance of tasty sandwiches on the bottom. A dish of sherbet finished the afternoon.

This tea room is located in a gated community. You can park in the front lot, pay your entrance fee and catch a golf cart to the tea room. For an additional fee, you can drive your car in and park in limited parking lots. The lake is a short walk from the tea room and many unique shops are just down the street.

Our very small group of 3 were treated as if we were family. Ruth is a wonderful hostess ans chef! The setting was just divine, the food delicious and the tea just superb! I plan a trip soon, if only by myself!

This is a tiny, exquisite tea room in the truest sense of long ago traditions. It is run as a tribute to a late family member who was British and it shows in the perfcetion of tea time that has a 'friend came to tea' atmosphere. They use good teas, mostly Harney's and know how to steep them, with scones and food made in the British manner. You couldn't ask for a better tea experience on a summer day, or any other time. This is tea as it should be if you want a relaxed atmosphere as if it were tea at a friend's home. They care, and it shows.

Though it is only open for the summer season, it can leave memories to warm you for all year long.

I have been going to lakeside for the past 10 years, one day i just happend to walk by and set up a reservation. I would recomend this tea room for anyone looking for a good time and good tea. It is a nice mom and pop tea room.

I found Tea by the Sea in an Ohio tearoom guide years ago, called for a reservation & went to preview the tearoom for an upcoming visit with my mother. Was I in for a wonderful surprise! Tea by the Sea is in a gated lakeside community in a quaint bed & breakfast. The tearoom is darling & just as the picture shows. Harney teas are served, everything is homemade, beautifully presented & served by her darling servers. One has a choice of a 'tea talk' or 'no tea talk'. We always enjoy a 'tea talk' & learn something new each time. Tea by the Sea has become a much looked forward to tradition each summer. It seems to combine all the most wonderful elements of summer for a tea lady. Ruth is a very caring & wonderful lady who I feel lucky to call friend. After tea, she tailors suggestions for each lady for shopping in the cute seaside village. I always look forward to returning each summer!

I just had a great experience at Tea by the Sea. The food was very good, and we were served much more than you would expect for the price and in comparison to other tea rooms that we have visited. High tea included fresh fruit, finger sandwiches, and several desserts (including homemade scones to die for!). The hostess prepares the tea sandwiches from scratch, using fresh herbs from her garden. They served a nice variety of Harney and Sons tea, prepared to perfection! If you are looking for a great value, and wonderful fresh food- try Tea by the Sea!

The hostess must have been lonely -- she spent so much time at our tables talking about teas that we couldn't visit! The selection and amount of food offered was extremely poor. Our group of ladies left and went a couple of streets over and had a meal at another restaurant. Great for tea, but don't expect food. Upon inquiry I was told that the tea room doesn't even have a stove or oven, so everything must be prepackaged.

My mother and I just visited this tea room and had a wonderful time. The tea room is small but very pleasant. The tea and the food were very good. There is an entrance fee to enter Lakeside (per person and per car).
