My friend and I drove from Richmond to the nearby Seven Oaks Lavender Farm and after our visit there decided to get lunch.
I remembered reading about a tea room in Culpeper, so we thought we'd try to find it.
The visitor's center directed us to TLR, an easy walk of about two blocks.
We were delighted with our experience there!
We loved the large selection and the fact that the tea was brewed, not in tea bags. The food was delicious, the service attentive and friendly, the decor cozy and relaxing. We perused every corner of the gift shop-terrific selection, something for every pocketbook.
Tea, Lace and Roses, we look forward to returning, and bringing some friends!

My husband and I visited Tea, Lace & Roses. We had a wonderful time. The owner, Joan, and our waitress, Tory, were very warm and friendly and provided excellent service. The food was very good, expecially the cinnamon chip scones. The interior decor is very charming, and there is a delightful variety of items for sale in the gift shop.
Anyone who goes to Tea, Lace and Roses is sure to have a delightful time.

Hi Debbie,
I enjoyed meeting you and your husband. Thank you for coming to Tea, Lace & Roses. We appreciate your comments, especially since you have a tearoom of your own and know what is involved in producing a good product. I hope to be able to visit 'Tea for You' in RI one day. Thanks, Joan

This is a wonderful tearoom. I have had tea here on several occasions. The food and tea are really delicious and the china collection is exceptional. So many beautiful teacups, plates and teapots. They set a very pretty table. You will not be disappointed.

I have been here on several occasions and enjoy it every time. The service is excellent and the staff are always pleasent and helpful. They bring out sample jars of the teas they offer for you to smell. It is extremely helpful when you can't decide what you want or you want to try a new tea. The food is always tasty and the teas are wonderful. The hot scones are delicious. The last time I went, my stepdad and I got to try four different teas, no extra charge! I have never done that at another tea room. I highly recommend this tea room for good food, tea, and a cozy-meets-traditional atmosphere.

My friend and I have been to TL&R three times now and have loved every minute. It has made the 1 1/2 hour drive worth it! The food has been different every time and is much better than any other tea rooms that we've been to. (including the Ritz and the Hay-Adams)
The last time we were there the hostess recognized me from a previous visit. That was very thoughtful. And it did surprise me because it had been such a long time since we had been there.
We will definately be back. Again and again.

A group of 8 ladies had a ball today at the tea room. The 'sniffing bar' of tea was very useful, especially to those who have not had many teas. So many to choose from too. The food was excellent and filling and cute gift shop. The tea room is very Victorian and the added dress-up room was a nice touch--but I missed the boas from my last trip here. Our visit rounded out a fun day of shopping with friends. Thank you for making it special.

Sorry about the boas. They had gotten pretty sad looking and we were constantly picking up feathers. Thought it best to add more jewelry instead. I am glad you had a good time even without the boas. Thank you for including us in your friendship day.

My husband and I visited Tea Lace And Roses on May 10 2008. What a lovely experience. It was so nice to get out of the hustle and bustle of the Washington DC area and come to this pleasant place. The hosts were so nice. The food was given quite a few unique personal touches, including the delicious Lavender scones. The music was relaxing. We also enjoyed exploring the nearby shops. We are looking forward to our next visit!! Be sure to call ahead so as not to miss out.

Thank you for your review of Tea, Lace & Roses. We hear that some men don't think they would enjoy the teahouse because of the decor and not have enough to eat. I am happy that your husband had a good time, as well.
Thanks, Joan

LOVE THIS PLACE... I heard they are up for sale...how sad. This was a nice, celan, upscale tea room with a variety of teas to offer. The owner is just 'special'. I will miss it. Best of luck in selling it.

Hi Barbi, Thank you for your continued patronage. Hopefully the teahouse will sell as is and continue. Until then, we will serve our guests as usual. It is because of people like you that makes this such a pleasure.

We visited the tea room for the first time this weekend to celebrate 4 April birthdays. We found the atmosphere calm and condusive to good conversation, the owners friendly, the tea was great. The food was good, although very small portions for the price. I would have liked to have seen the hats mentioned by another customer. There were many interesting tea related gifts and collectibles.

Thank you for your review of Tea, Lace & Roses. It only helps us to get better. I don't know what happened about the hats--that is one of the highlights of our establishment, and I must have had a brain freeze or senior moment to forget about the dress-up room. I do apologize. As for the food portions, we are going to make some of the sandwiches larger than they presently are. I agree that some are too small. They are geared more for the Full English Tea, which has quite a bit of food and many take a box of leftovers home with them. Again, thank you for your comments. I hope you will give us another chance to make a better impression. Please let me know when you came come again and I will make up for this visit.

My neice and I spent a day riding in the Virginia countryside. We stopped in at Tea, Lace, and Roses and had a lovely time. From the tea presentation, to hats, to scones, to dessert all were delightful. Clotted cream and orange cookies were our favorites. Tea, Lace, and Roses made my special time with my niece even better. This is definitely a destination in itself.

Great tea shop. Really enjoyed it. My friends and I have tea somewhere in the Commonwealth, close to NOVA or Richmond, about once a quarter. It's our way of getting together often.

My girlfriends and I discovered this a few years ago, and now drive out a few times a year to spend a day in lovely Culpeper. We always finish with afternoon tea at Tea, Lace, and Roses. It's a wonderful place to unwind. The food is incredible, and the whole staff is cheery and kind. The only recommendation - if you're 'popping' out for the day, make sure to call ahead for a reservation.

At least once a year, a group of former teachers get together to keep our friendship going as our lives grow and change. We set our tea date at Tea, Lace and Roses in December and I traveled from Charlotte, NC to be with my friends to celebrate life. It was well worth the trip. Tea, Lace and Roses, once again, did not dissapoint.

Coming from all reaches of the state, my grandmother, aunts, great-aunts, cousins, and I gathered in Culpeper at Tea, Lace & Roses as a central location to celebrate my 43rd birthday, and to reunite last year! We essentially dominated the front room, happily laughing, oohing and aanhing at the teapots, china, decor, the petit finger sandwiches, and each other! The Tea Room is decorated in an Antique Victorian motif that delights. We visited their back room where they supply patrons with hats, feather boas, and lace gloves, with an antique vanity to admire our transformations. It was like a big-girl's fantasy tea party--and we just loved it. The bamboo tea was exceptional and the scones were to die for! I will be sure to stop in again when in town, and thanks for making my birthday such a memorable, special and unique experience.

I took my daughter and her grandmother here for an intimate tea time experience and we found it quite lovely and had a lot of fun as well. It totally met our expectations and more. Although we had a hard time choosing, I love that you can 'sniff' each tea before deciding which one and there are descriptions of the teas. We had fun trying on hats and boas and took lots of pictures. The food was delightful and yummy. The ambience wonderful. We happened to visit another tea room with a friend the following week and were slightly disappointed as it could not live up to the experience we had at Tea, Lace and Roses. I will be bringing her soon to yours. Thank you!
