Tea Room in the Valley, is a one of a kind of tea room. From the time you come in, and are greeted at the door, with a smiling face, the attention you are given, as if you are special, to the wonderful meal that is served to you, (my favorite is their chicken salad, I am spoiled having it anywhere else), fun trying to choose your favorite tea from the many, many varieties they offer, and upon leaving, said good bye to and to have a nice day.
The entire experience is one that no one should miss!!

This Tea Room in the Valley is a must visit every time I come to St. Louis. The food is quite special with homemade popovers, luscious chicken salads, and quiche to name a few. I am sure the other menu items are delicious as well, but my mother and I never get past the above mentioned treats! Attention to detail and presentation of the food are delightful. Servings are generous, but save room for dessert - perhaps something to share! Service is not only top quality, but warm and inviting. The Tea Room is decorated with charm and whimsy, and you dine amid a flurry of floral patterns and lace curtains, evoking a cottage from bygone days when hand painted china and white table cloths promised a lovely way to celebrate good food, friends, and tea.
In addition to the lovely decor an... (more)d food, there is a small selection of high quality gifts for purchase as well. I found an adorable miniature tea set for my granddaughter there!
I understand that there are special theme luncheons available, and they sound like someone is taking the time and energy to make every last detail divine, a real rarity these days!

You are very kind. We received your email saying your review here at Teamap had disappeared, don't know what happened to it, we do not have any control of it. It's always a pleasure to see you walk through the door.

This was a wonderful setting to take my parents for a nice, relaxing lunch and tea (yes...a great supply of iced teas, too, in this heat!) We loved the atmosphere, very clean, colorful, and the service was exemplary.

What an absolutely charming place! I've had tea many times in England, as well as around St. Louis, but the atmosphere and food was as good as I've ever had. Sandwiches, cut into teapot shapes, were delicious and hardy; tea selecton was incredibly expansive; dishes and cutlery were lovely and appropiate for the service. It is decorated like a tearoom in an English village, and provided a delightful afternoon.

In regard to Karen the Tea Gal. It is really a shame that Karen had never expereinced the charming, cozy, ambiance of a Tea Room before! The Owners and servers at The Tea Room in the Valley truly offer a welcoming, comforting atmosphere for their guests as well as a delicious variety of luncheon items and teas. As owner of Aggie's Closet and Tea Room in O'Fallon I recommend The Tea Room in the Valley to all my guests since I feel confident that they will experience the same cozy ambiance as we provide. We certainly do not even intend to compete with lavish hotels and grandiose tea rooms. Good job ladies!

I have been to Tea Room in the Valley because several friends have expressed an interest, even though they have never been to a proper tea which you would find at the Ritz Carlton - St. Louis, The Drake Hotel in Chicago, The Brown Palace in Denver, Elmwood Inn in Kentucky (now closed), St. Regis Hotel in New York and I could go on and on.
This tea room, in my opinion does not deserve a #1 ranking in Missouri (I couldn't find anywhere on this website that described how that ranking was awarded). Other than some very gimmicky ways to present the food -- it was not an afternoon tea or cream tea or even high tea.
You don't get a high rating from me!
Ladies (and gentlemen)-- try locally, either Ladies of Lucerne or the Ritz Carlton to have the true experience of tea!

- Karen the Tea Gal 12/29/07

Dear Karen,
I could understand your view if we claimed to serve 'Afternoon Tea', 'High Tea', 'Cream Tea', etc. However our website makes no such overtures. We are a Tea Room for lunch - we offer tea of all kinds. Our decor, unlike any other in Missouri is completely about Tea. People fancy our Tea Room as a place to gather with friends to visit, chat over lunch and a good cuppa. We do not compete with grandiose lavish hotels, rather, we offer a homey setting and hope our customers know that they very special company in our house. We hope that they enjoy a cozy cup of tea along with a healthy, tasty, lunch.

Tea Room in the Valley is fantastic. There's no better place in the metropolitan St. Louis area for your ladies' lunch with friends! I've never seen so many types of tea. The food is terrific. The decor/atmosphere is themed to perfection. The service is friendly. You will love Francine, Elaine, and Tina, so go to Tea Room in the Valley soon and often.

A couple of weeks ago, I went with my sister and mother and a friend and we couldn't have been more pleased!! I can't wait to go back. AND, they have REAL live finger sandwiches, something I have never seen in all my tearoom experiences!!! The owners were our good friends by the time we left. Loved it.

Hi Debbie,
I'm not sure what real live tea sandwiches are - sounds scary. We do make the Tea Sandwiches on our 'British Sampler' to order and as you know they do have a special presentation. I am glad that you enjoyed them and thanks for this lovely review.
