I had the pleasure of taking tea at the Butterfly with my grandmother last summer, when the tearoom first opened, and have since returned frequently. It has only improved over time! The tearoom offers a fine variety of full leaf teas, made hot or iced upon request, and boasts a wide variety of freshly prepared finger sandwiches, quiches, soups, and desserts, in addition to their top notch scones. Each course is served with obvious attention paid to its preparation, and the waitresses are always pleasant and helpful. Peg, the owner, goes from table to table, chatting with each customer, making sure that they feel welcome in her tearoom, and have everything that they could possibly require during their visit. Overall, the tearoom is a true gem, catering to the personal tastes of its patrons, and encouraging everyone to come in, sit back, and relax while they 'savor their cup of tea.'

We ventured upon this 'diamond in the rough' of a tearoom after being snubbed by the other tearoom in Cape May, NJ. Our visit to the Butterfly Tearoom was the highlight of our day! The owner was so pleasant on the phone and even more charming in person. The service was a bit slow, however our server was very sweet and just had a slower pace than we are accustomed to - no worries, we were on vacation and actually enjoyed the change in pace. My initial goal was to treat my mother and my 6 year-old daughter to a 'girly' day out in Cape May and the Butterfly Tearoom was our icing on the cake. We will be visiting there each year during our Cape May visit and highly recommend this place.

The food was also very good and we left feeling fully satisfied, not stuffed. A nice assortment... (more)

My husband took me here the day after Valentine's Day. I HIGHLY recommend this tearoom to everyone. It is at the top of my list of favorites. The owner was so hospitable. I loved her collection of tea pots and tea cups. The food and service were outstanding. I was even able to pick my own teapot with a cat on it. I enjoyed my tea lunch so much that I left briefly to call my mom and brag about how wonderful this tea room is and how she HAS to come with me. I also called my sister and all my friends to tell them about it later that day. I LOVED it. The owner and my server were so kind and accommodating. It made for a very happy day.

Recently I discovered this little treasure. My girls and I have become Tea House hunters, and this location was recommended by The Bird House and Sea Level shop keepers right next door. We were pleasantly surprised at the cheery decor and fine service. My girls especially enjoyed selecting a teapot from the graceful cabinets around the room. One child preferred an antique apple tea pot for her apple cider tea. Something for everyone! The menu and quality of our lunch was exceptional, we'll be back for sure.

Visit number 5 for me the day after Thanksgiving. My mom and sister came with me. This tearoom is one of the highlights during my Cape May visits. Always great!

Had my fourth visit to The Butterfly today. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. My tea selection was Irish Breakfast and I enjoyed the 'Monarch' tea service: scones, quiche, fresh fruit, baked sweet treats, tea sandwiches. I lingered over a second pot of tea. Service was perfect. This place is a real gem!

Wonderful place. My wife, mother-in-law, and I went there for afternoon tea. You pick out a tea pot and they bring it out to you. The tea was good (I had a rasberry flavored black tea that was a tad bitter/had to add sugar, which I rarely do, and is available only in the fall), the food - especially the lemon squares - were even better, and the service was impeccable. We were seated immediately, the staff was pleasent and attentive but not pushy. This added to the overall relaxing almosphere. My wife does not eat pork and when she asked about pork in the sandwiches they mentioned there was ham in one. They immediately substituted a different one, and placed her order on a different plate so the ham would not 'contaminate' her food. As good as the food and drink are, I really think the fast, friendly, and excellent service makes this place one of the best around.

Have been to this tea room three times and it just keeps getting better! Today I tried the tangerine iced tea and it was wonderful. My tea treats were fresh baked and satisfying. The staff and owners are a delight. I came late in the day as a single walk-in and was served immediately, but this place is becoming very well known so it's best to make an advanced reservation, as it is with most popular tea rooms.

I was taken back when they served the scones first but the owner visits every table and is open to suggestion to improve the tea room. It's brand new and I guarantee you this time next year you won't be able to get into this tea room.....great potential they just need to iron our some issues. I love that you pick your own tea pot, it really brings the room together as a whole, nice a friendly gesture. We're trying it again this week to see how they are progressing.

My daughter and I enjoyed a relaxing lunch at the tearoom. We got to pick our own tea pot from a beautiful collection and shared the berry-berry tea. We each had the quiche and fruit cup which was delicious. Service was very good and we were made to feel comfortable and in no way rushed. We will definitely go back.

My daughter and I drove to Cape May from Ocean City on Wednesday Sept 19th specifically to visit this tea room after reading great reviews about it. Boy were we disappointed!! The service was so horrible, no one was getting served, and after waiting 15 minutes after being seated for someone to take our order, we sadly walked out. No one around us was being waited on either, and only one table had food. We watched as they finished and then waited and waited for their check. That table finally hunted down an older male gentleman to practically beg for their check.

The menu looked great, the teapots were really cute, but unfortunately we never got to taste anything :(

Had my second visit to The Butterfly Tea Room over the Labor Day weekend. Took my mom and sister. We all loved it! The baked treats were delicious and beautifully presented. We chose the teapots for our tea service from the collection of decorative porcelain teapots in the tea room's china cabinets. The English Breakfast was our tea for the day but there are many flavors from which to choose. This tea room accepts credit cards and includes the tax and gratuity in the pricing so bill paying is easy. I'll be back again soon!
