The English Rose is by far the most lovely, and relaxing restaurant I've ever been to. The staff is so friendly and kind. They are always ready to cater to your needs. There are so many different teas to choose from and there's something for everyone. The food is displayed so beautifully too! On a tier, sandwiches are on the bottom, savories and fruit in the middle, and desserts and scones on top. The atmosphere is so beautiful and doll like. Not to say men shouldn't come here, but it's very girly. But there aren't enough places like this, so who cares? I bring my friends and family here and we are always so blessed. Come the English Rose!

Every time I've come here for tea, I always leave feeling replenished. It isn't just the abundance of delicious food or the never-ending pots of incredible tea that are served, but more so the loving atmosphere created by the warm servers and hostess that make the English Rose such a special place. The last person I brought here for tea was my sweet grandmother who has since passed away, and what a wonderful memory I have now of spending a day at tea with her. I will of course be coming to the English Rose soon!

I've taken my sister, my mom, and my grandmother to this tea room and they never cease to surpass my expectations in service, atmosphere, and taste! I woul highly recommend the English Rose!

I absolutely love this place! It is so beautiful and all of the servers are so thoughtful and attentive. The food is delicious and beautifully prepared! There is a very large selection of teas, over 90!!! And they let you get unlimited tea so you can try as many as you want! I love everything about this place!

This is my favorite tea house! There is a very relaxing and quaint atmosphere, and the ladies who work there are so polite and generous. I always feel very welcomed when I go there, and although it's a bit expensive, it's definitely worth it! Everyone there makes you feel very special, whether it's for a certain occasion or just to have a cup of tea!

I have enjoyed several tea houses throughout California. This by far was unfortunately the WORST tea house. My expectations after reading all the great reviews was severly disappointing. On Saturdays, you are required to order their Queen's tea for $26. Their presentation was a mess; the tiers were not organized by savory, sandwiches & sweets. Rather, it was strewn about the trays. The scone was horrible - it looked & tasted like a biscuit. Finger sandwiches were a joke - bread with a swipe of 'filling'. The sweets tasted horrible as though they were purchased at a grocery store, taken out of package, and placed on the tray. I took one bite and stopped. Very, very disappointing. Their tea was good as well as the variety offered. Their employees were very curteous as well. Ambiance overall... (more)

I felt very uncomfortable I think we had the smallest table there and there were more tables than floor space. it was way over priced for sandwiches that were just thrown together. I have no idea why it is ranked so high.

My sister and I love this Tea Room. We recently attended the Christmas Tea and every bit of the experience was exquisite. The food, service and atmosphere get an A+++. And the owner and servers are DOLLS!

I went to The English Rose for my birthday. They had a wonderful variety of tea on the menu and tea of the day. The English Rose had many different price options. I liked that. I had the queens tea. I was quite disappointed with the quality of food. The tea sandwiches looked as if who ever made them was in a hurry. The tea sandwiches had very little filling. A swipe of egg salad on the bread is an overstatement. The staff made my birthday wonderful. Not sure if I will go back.

I have visited tea rooms as I travel. This tea room is THE BEST!!! I tried almost all top 10 tea rooms in California. This English Rose Tea should be the #1. The ambiance is heavenly. They serve you with incredibly warm, kind and sincere ways. The food is so yummy and the tea is excellent!! I would highly recommend this tea room. I wish I lived closer to this store...

I went with a few of my friends today, and we LOVED it!! And that's saying a lot, coming from a girl who HATED tea until today. Their blends and varieties are delicious, the food is tasty, and the entire environment is great, from the decor to the silverware and cups/saucers/teapots. Everyone who works there is incredibly sweet and made the experience that much more fun (particularly Jennifer and Lisa)! My friends and I enjoyed ourselves immensely and can't wait to come back :)

My mother and I decided to go to tea on Friday at The English Rose Tea Room in Pleasanton. It was a tropical themed tea day. The decor, tea and snacks were in a tropical theme. We enjoyed the extra special details from the tropical theme and thought the staff were wonderful. I would suggest this place to anyone who loves tea or just wants a fun girls day out. Thanks for a great day!

The English Rose is the essence of its name. Like the beauty of a rose unfolding, this tea room experience unfolds beauty, joy, and care in all of its details. The ambiance is a quaint and warm place to spend with friends or family. The service truly desires to serve you with genuine and sincere joy. (No one could ask for a better server than ours, tinkerbell). The food is incredibly delicious down to every tea sandwich and cake. And of course, the tea was wonderful! The English Rose would be a treat for anyone present. I highly recommend it!

What a beautiful place to have tea! My daughter and I shared a lovely birthday tea. Everything was just perfect and the staff made us feel so warm and welcome. The food was excellent. They were very accomodating to our vegetarian lifestyle, which we truly appreciated. We were served a lovely almond sugar cookie tea for a sample, along with a delicious cookie. It was so delicious, even my daughter, who doesn't usually like hot tea, enjoyed every sip. We were then treated to warm fragrant hand towels and just felt so pampered. There is a huge selection of teas, any of which can be made iced. We both chose the strawberry kiwi herbal, which was excellent and neither one of us required any sweetner. The service was impecable... thank you, Jules! She is a treasure and was such a sweetheart. She ... (more)

I've have been to tea rooms before but this is by FAR the best I have been to. The staff is incredibly welcoming and treated us like queens ! Every detail about our service seemed to have been carefully thought through- from the warm hand towels to the unlimited teas to the personal note on our check! The owner and servers truly cared about serving us to their best ability and we felt very loved. Not to mention the food was DELICIOUS and beautifully displayed. I will be coming back very soon. I would highly recommend visiting this tea room!

I have been to the tea room many times and part of the reason I keep coming back is the environment! I love coming on weekdays especially- I never feel rushed and I can sit back and relax without the worry of formal seating times. Weekends are a whole different story! Saturdays are a different kind of experience- a lot busier, louder, and there are most definitely formal seating times. Saturdays are more the days where I bring my friends for a birthday party or something- weekdays are just for me or even better with a friend for a quiet, intimate tea time.
The other nice thing is that there are splatterings of religion instead of being an' in your face' type establishment. If you want prayer or religion- you know it's there but you aren't pushed to have any religious beliefs. It kinda ... (more)

Very disappointed, we expected an absolutely outstanding Tea House, instead this is a gift shop serving Tea. Can not understand how it is listed in the Great Tea Rooms of America, maybe because the author is a personal friend of the owner. Very crowded with nick naks for sale and only average in food quality and presentation. Nothing much else local for competition and we didn't appreciate their religion thrown in our face either. Stick to keepsakes for sale not religion.

It was just my friend , my twin sister, and myself. All three of us are twelve years old. We went because it was Our friends birthday on the 22nd of March. It was her birthday gift from the two of us. We had a fantastic time. The service was amazing, they had also said a few words that just touched our hearts. They all blessed us and now I feel so much closer to God. It was really something special to experience. I can certainly tell you it is the perfect place to go with a couple of your girlfriends. Have Fun!!!!!!!!

Our visit was okay but very disappointing compared to all the other reviews. We felt we were being rushed from the moment we sat down, even though we had reservations. Our tea took a very long time to arrive and was overly bitter from the start. When we asked for new flavors of tea we were given heavy sighs and rolling of the eyes. From that time forward we kept our mouths shut and tried our best to still have a good time.

I've been to The English Rose often enough to know I'm always ready to go back! I have never been disappointed. I once made reservations for an intimate bridal shower, and our waitress made sure the bride-to-be received special attention. Whether I'm there to spend time with my daughters or friends, each and every experience is always an absolute pleasure.

The staff is cordial, attentive and personable, and they take the time to answer any questions you may have in regards to the food or tea. The owner Lisa, is always ready to greet you with a smile and tend your your specific needs, whether it's your first time or a return visit.

Good food, wonderful ambience, and excellent service...what more can one ask for?! I highly recommend this tea room for the ultimate experience in the heart of Pleasanton's downtown.
